DAILY DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY JANUARY 27, 2023
(1 Corinthians 9:24; Galatians 5:7; Philippians 3:14; 2 Timothy 4:7,8)
***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, please give me the strength to live today in Your Spirit. I will no longer walk in the flesh, but live in the Spirit. It is the key to me living for YOU each day. In Jesus name I pray…AMEN! *Salvation message from Ground Zero: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqZ9oaqJNJg
***DAILY DEVOTIONAL BLOCKS! Some Yahoo and AOL people may have missed the last few Daily Devotionals. They have been blocking our emails since the first of the year but our techs are close to getting around these blocks. Don’t forget the current Daily Devotional is always on the Liveprayer.com homepage each day at Midnight. Blessings!
***THE DAILY LIVEPRAYER TV NUGGET: 2 people in the news who both need your prayers. The legendary singer Madonna has used mockery of Christianity and bl! aspheming
Christ and the virgin Mary over 4 decades of her music/entertainment career. In her latest photoshoot in Vanity Fair, the 64 year old Madonna transforms herself into Mary on the cover of the February magazine. Inside is a photo spread where she poses as Jesus at the Last Supper with 12 female disciples. This woman seems to want the express elevator to the deepest depths of hell. Pray for her, since if she ever had a real Damascus Road experience, Madonna could become a powerful witness for Christ in her later years. The other person I want you to pray for is the rookie QB for the San Francisco 49ers, Brock Purdy. After his college career at Iowa State, Purdy had the distinction of being the 262nd and last player taken in last year’s NFL draft by San Francisco. That final selection each year is also known as Mr. Irrelevant. He started the season as the 49ers 3rd string QB, but after injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, Purdy was thrust into action. Since taking ove! r, Purdy is
7-0, winning 2 playoff games, and will be the first rookie to start a Conference Championship game as the 49ers take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Philly this Sunday. To be fair, the 49ers have a loaded roster. They have All Pros on offense and defense. With all of the talent on the offensive side of the ball, they don’t require Purdy to be a hero. They just ask him to manage the game, distribute the ball, and don’t turn it over. So far he has risen to the moment. I share this with you because on top of being a professional football QB, Purdy is also a serious follower of Jesus Christ. He is very open about his faith and you can tell as he talks it is a long held relationship that is the center and focus of his life. I have never believed God roots for one team over another in a football game, because I am certain there are serious Christians on the Eagles team as well. However, unlike some professional athletes who sound “forced” when speaking of their faith, it fl! ows from Purdy
naturally and you can tell it is the essence of who he is. Pray for him, not to win Sunday, but to continue to use this newfound platform he has been blessed with at this moment to let the Christ in him shine for all to see!

This is a special time of year for football fans as the NFL Conference Championship games will be played this Sunday to determine who will be in the Super Bowl. Cincinnati will play at Kansas City to determine the AFC Champion, while San Francisco will play at Philadelphia to determine the NFC Champion. The winner will play in this year’s Super Bowl on Sunday February 12th.
For the 3-3 1/2 hours a game lasts, the players are competing, using their God-given talents and abilities to try and help their team win. Their fans will be cheering for them on to victory. As I was watching a few of the playoff football games this past weekend, I began thinking about another sports fan, Paul.
Paul made several analogies between the Christian life and sports in his writings. Most had to do with the training an athlete undergoes in ! preparing
to compete. This weekend I saw another analogy that I am sure Paul did as well. During the course of the game, these athletes are competing, using every bit of their talents and abilities to do the best they can. As the game goes on, some step up and perform heroically helping their team to win.
IF AN ATHLETE CAN USE ALL OF HIS TALENTS AND ABILITIES TO WIN A GAME, HOW MUCH MORE SHOULD A CHILD OF GOD USE THEIR TALENTS AND ABILITIES TO SERVE OUR LORD?
Let me challenge you today my friend. If an athlete can go out and train, practice for endless hours perfecting their skills, go out on the day of a game and give everything they have to win a game that in light of eternity is meaningless, the child of God should train harder, practice harder, and never give less than everything we have since those people we reach for Christ can escape everlasting separation from God and enjoy eternity with Him.
The performance of an athlete during a game may determine who wins ! and loses
that game, but the performance of those who serve the Lord can determine if a person spends eternity with the Lord or is forever separated from Him. While what that athlete does may be important for that moment, what the servant of God does is important for eternity!!!
I want you to understand today that what you do for the Lord has eternal significance. The way you live your life each day, sharing your faith in Christ with others, allowing God to work through you to bless someone else is greater than scoring the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl.
Even though star athletes get paid millions of dollars for what they do on the field, the child of God is paid in things more precious than silver and gold for what they do for the Lord. You can’t put a price on the peace and joy only God can give you. You can’t put a price on God’s blessings. God’s rewards for those who are faithful in serving Him are greater than all the riches of this world.
I love you and ca! re about
you so much. I will be praying for you today to NEVER forget how important what you do for Christ each day really is. You may not be performing on prime time television, or be on the cover of Sports Illustrated, but nothing any athlete does in their sport can compare to what you do when you are serving the Lord.
They are providing entertainment to those who they reach, you are providing the words of LIFE to those who you reach. Even though man looks at the athlete as a hero, God looks at those who serve Him as a hero.
The next time you are watching a sporting event, enjoy the special talents of those who are playing the game. But never forget God has given you special talents too. He has given every one of His children gifts and talents to serve Him with. Exercise your gifts and use your talents to share the hope and love of Christ with the lost and hurting in your life.
There may not be a stadium full of people cheering as you faithfully serve our Lord, bu! t there
is an angelic host rooting you on and Jesus is on His throne waiting to welcome you into Glory when your race is finished!!!
In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller
