Sacrificing for God’s Work

(Exodus 35:4-5,21, 36:4-7; 1 Chronicles 29:2,6)

**ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, For some reason I have a hard time understanding this. Example: John Smith was saved on Friday at 2 PM. If that person does nothing else with their life, how can they say they are saved?

ANSWER: Only God knows a person’s heart, however, if a person is truly saved there will be evidence of it in how they live their life. Sadly, many are not properly discipled and don’t know how to make the correct changes. But in the ned, if a person is tryly saved, they will have a desire to please the Lord they have committed their life to, and through going to church, reading the Bible, fellowshipping with other Believers, begin to transform their old life into their new life.

I have always been challenged in reading God’s Word about those who made great sacrifices for His work. When I read the Bible, I try to put myself in the actual scene that is being described. I wonder what it would be like to have been in the assembly as Moses told the people about the Tabernacle, and then challenged them to give all that was needed to build it. I can imagine being there as David shared the plans for building a Temple to God, describing all that would be needed to build God’s house.

Judas was the treasurer of the disciples who followed Jesus. You don’t need a treasurer unless you have a treasury. Obviously, during those 3 years of ministry, Christ and those who followed Him had to deal with the same necessities of life you and I do. They had to have a place to sleep each night, food to eat, clothes to wear, as well as whatever other miscellaneous expenses that were involved in their day to day lives. We read about a few of the people who gave to Christ during his ministry including Mary who anointed Jesus with perfume and Joseph of Arimathea who supplied the tomb Jesus was buried in.

Without a doubt, the person from God’s Word I would have loved to follow and watch was Paul. Just the glimpse into his life we get from the book of Acts and the letters he wrote were amazing. Here was a man who was as sold out for Jesus as any man could be. He was faithful to his calling to serve the Lord with his life in bringing the message of Christ to the world of his day. We read about all of the real life issues Paul had to face in serving the Lord. One of those real life issues was raising the money he needed to accomplish all that he did during his ministry.

Lost by most people in reading his various letters to the church are some of the best fundraising appeals you will ever read. Last week I was flipping through the TV stations one evening and one of the large Christian networks was having their telethon they put on several times a year to raise money. In flipping back and forth over the course of several hours, I heard about every twisted use of Scripture, emotional plea, and guilt trip you could name to get people to go to the phone and give money.

To my knowledge, Paul never held a telethon, never sold “resources,” never mailed out “prayer cloths,” never promised people they would be debt free by giving to his ministry, didn’t preach a powerful message then end his message with, “now give me money.” No, Paul simply shared his needs, reminded the people of their responsibility to support God’s work, encouraged them to give according to their ability, and give cheerfully out of a grateful heart for all God has done in their lives.

I spent several years in the Christian television world at the beginning of my ministry over 22 years ago, and have seen every trick, every game, every Scripture that is used to induce people to give. I have done my very best from day one to emulate Paul in not only his fearless dedication in serving the Lord with everything he had, but in dealing with the reality of having to finance the ongoing work of God here at Liveprayer by simply sharing our needs from time to time and trusting God to move on people’s hearts to help me reach the lost and hurting in this world for Christ.

The Bible tells us of the great sacrifices a few made in supporting the work of God. The fact is, it has been millions of faithful people since the Garden of Eden that have sacrificed to make possible the work of God throughout all of these years, people whose names will never be known by anyone but God Himself. Each month there are hundreds who faithfully and sacrificially give to God’s work here at Liveprayer. Some can only give $5, others $10,000. The amount is not important since it is your heart that God sees. I pray daily for those who are led and able to give, knowing that they are part of a wonderful group of people that have made the work of God possible throughout the ages.

I love you and care about you so much. The tithe, or the tenth, is what was paid to the priest in the Old Testament. The fact is, 100% of everything we have belongs to God. When we give, we are simply giving back a portion of what God has entrusted to us as an act of obedience, sacrifice, and worship. My advice on giving is this. Sit down with God and work out your budget and pray about what you can give to Him each week. Come to a peace about that figure and then faithfully and cheerfully give your offering each week.

Even if you have very little, you can give God a dime, a quarter, or a dollar. Remember, the widow at the temple gave very little in terms of actual money, but Jesus said she gave the most of all since it was out of her need. God is never going to ask you to give what you don’t have, only what you do have. Also, God may move on your heart to make special gifts from time to time. Simply be obedient and give as God directs you to and never forget that He is not impressed by the amount we give, but by our faithfulness and obedience to give it.

I will be praying for you today as the Lord guides you in this area of your life. The work of God exists because of the obedience and the faithfulness of those who sacrifice to support it. As I share with you so often, God blesses us for our obedience. I am thankful each day for those who are obedient in hearing from the Lord in giving to this ministry. I never forget for a minute that we are here only because of your faithfulness and sacrifice to give as you are led by God.

The Tabernacle and Temple never would have been built without the sacrifices of those who gave. Paul would have never went on the incredible missionary journeys he did without the sacrifices of those who gave. The great ministries of our generation would not exist without the sacrifices of those who gave. LIVEPRAYER WOULD NOT EXIST WITHOUT THE SACRIFICES OF THOSE WHO GIVE EACH MONTH!

Are You at that Place of Desperation Where You don’t See Any Solutions

(Proverbs 12:15)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, Where in the Bible does it say you are to give 10% of your income for tithes?

ANSWER: The tithe, or the tenth, is what was paid to the Old Testament Priests. The fact is, 100% of everything we have belongs to God. When we give, we are simply giving back a portion of what God has entrusted to us in an act of obedience, sacrifice and worship. My advice on giving is this. Sit down with God, work out your budget, and pray about what you can give to God each week. God will NEVER tell you to give what you can’t give, but in accordance with your ability to give. Come to a peace about that figure in prayer and than faithfully and cheerfully give your offering each week. Also, at times God may move on your heart to make special gifts. Simply be obedient and give as the Holy Spirit directs you remembering God is not impressed by the amount we give, but by our obedience and faithfulness.

Are you at that place of desperation where you don’t see any solutions to the challenges you are facing? Are you in the 11th hour and losing hope? I get so many emails each day from people all over the world who are in the midst of major battles in their life. They are desperate, looking for something magical to happen to make their circumstances different overnight. I pray that by now you know how much I love you and care about you. I try to give myself each day to standing with you and helping you through the trials of everyday life.

This is one of those days that I need to use some tough love on you. So many of you have absolutely unrealistic expectations about resolving your problems that you need someone to tell you the truth. I hear over and over each day people say, “God has abandoned me…He doesn’t love me or how could He make me go through this.” The fact is God has never left you, God loves you unconditionally, and you go through most of the battles in your life because you do not have a workable plan to get victory.

It is also unrealistic to think that God is some genie in the bottle that you call on when you are in trouble and He will snap His fingers and make all of your problems go away. The fact is, most of your problems didn’t just happen overnight; they developed over a period of time. Victory will probably not happen overnight either; it will take place over a period of time. Let me interject that God can do anything, and if He, in His sovereign will, chooses to eliminate your problems overnight He CAN do that.

The logical question becomes where do I get this plan? God gives us His plan for victory in many ways. This is again why it becomes critical to have that intimate daily relationship with Him. It is in that close daily contact through prayer and the Word that He speaks to us. In our circumstances, He speaks to us. Through the counsel of others He speaks to us. It is a combination of all the above that helps us formulate a game plan, His plan, to be victorious.

One important element I just mentioned was the counsel of others. God has placed mature, Godly people in our life strategically to help us get victory over our battles. Drop your pride and reach out for the wise counsel of others. Let them know about your struggles and ask them to help you formulate a viable plan to see victory. Once armed with the plan God gives you, it requires you to be like Joshua as you faithfully and obediently follow the plan. Trust God, put your faith in Him, He won’t let you down. HE WILL LEAD YOU TO VICTORY OVER YOUR BATTLES!

For many of you today, you are so entrenched in the battles, you need a fresh set of eyes, someone from the “outside” who can give you a different perspective on your problems. If you are at the place of desperation, it is clear what you are doing is not working and you may need to totally restructure everything, This is where you need to humble yourself, swallow your pride, and find 2-3 people you trust to give you Godly counsel.

If it is a business problem, find people who are successful in your business. If it is some other type of problem, seek out those who have expertise in the area you are having problems. Sit down with these people, tell them what your problems are, what challenges you are facing, and ask them to give you a plan they would use if they were in your shoes. You need fresh ideas, fresh inspiration. I know that many of the problems I have had in my life were a result of not seeking wise counsel. I have become a firm believer in the Biblical teaching to get wise counsel in those important decisions we make along our journey .

I realize that I am hitting very close to home for many of you today. For those of you that are dealing with some deep issues in your life, let me encourage you today. God loves you, He cares about you, and He has placed Godly men and women in the Body of Christ to help you overcome whatever your problems may be. Take this opportunity right now to ask God to give you the strength to admit there are problems that you just can’t overcome on your own, and that He will open up the doors for you and bring the right people into your life to help you overcome those problems and live the victorious life He intends you to enjoy!

I love you, I care about you deeply, and this is God talking to you today to lay your pride aside and seek out the help you need to overcome the problems in your life that are keeping you from enjoying the peace and joy that God intends for you to have. As I mentioned, God has placed many gifted and wonderful men and women in the Body of Christ to help you. Take advantage of them.

I will be in prayer for those of you who needed to hear these words of encouragement today. I realize that these can be deeply personal and difficult issues to deal with. My only desire is to see you become all that God has raised you up to be and know the incredible abundance this life can offer. I know you may be facing major issues in your life that are keeping that from happening, and I want you to know that there are answers, there are solutions, there is hope!

You don’t have to go through the rest of your life with that dark cloud hanging over you. You don’t have to go through another day without the joy God intends for you to have. God loves you and has placed people in your life to help you overcome those problems you are facing. There really is victory in Jesus. He has won the victory over whatever battle you are facing 2000 years ago on Calvary. May your number one priority today be getting a plan from God to win the battles you are facing in your life, execute the plan faithfully, and as my personal signature scripture from 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Having Faith like the Widow of Zarephath

(1 Kings 17:7-16)

Ask Bill: Pastor Bill, what would be a good illustration of true Biblical faith?

Answer: SEE TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL BELOW

Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the Lord came to him: “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.” So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.” “As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread-only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it-and die.” Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.'” She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah. (1 Kings 17:7-16)

It is amazing how when we obey God, His blessings flow. Later in this wonderful story of faith, we see an additional blessing when the son of this widow dies, and the prophet, by the power of God, brought him back to life. Things have not changed. Over these past 15+ yrs we have several million testimonies like this, where people obeyed God’s voice and made great sacrifices to give to His work here at Liveprayer, and were blessed above and beyond all they could have imagined.

God’s Word is true and God is faithful!!!

Let me be clear, many of those blessings are NOT financial. Obeying God doesn’t mean you will get a knock at your door and find a Brinks truck. It DOES mean, that God will meet your needs, open doors that only He can open, and bless you in so many ways you probably don’t even recognize. Good health, an old car that keep running, children who love the Lord, a wonderful marriage, a job, your home not in foreclosure, the list is endless in ways God blesses us that we don’t even think of most days.

Why did God send the prophet to this particular woman? The prophet had to eat to sustain his life to deliver the message God called him to deliver to the people of his day. He too, had to have faith that God would provide for his needs. He too, had to have faith that this woman would respond to his plea at that critical time.

The lesson here is simple. For the man of God, doing God’s work, faithfully serving God, he has to trust God daily for the needs to do that work. I know what that is like since this is how I have lived my life every day over the past 20 yrs.

Like the OT prophets, I own no buildings that need to be kept up, I have no investment portfolios for a rainy day, I have no huge staffs of people that need to be supported, since unlike so many I am not trying to build my own kingdom but God’s! I just have the daily needs necessary to sustain life and this ministry so I can share the Truth of God’s Word and the hope of Christ with the lost and hurting!

For those who love the Lord, God will call you often to do something that you may not understand, but as you exercise your faith and obey, you see God’s blessings in your life and soon realize that it is in your faithfulness and obedience the Lord blesses. Despite the challenges we all face, God gives you His peace and joy as you honor and serve Him!

I love you and care about you so much! The fruit of my faith and obedience along with the faith and obedience of so many friends during these past 15+ yrs of Liveprayer has been tens of millions of lives impacted for Christ and just over 900,000 souls we know of who will be in Heaven for all eternity!!!

Remain True to the Faith

(Acts 14:22)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, what exactly is required to surrender 100% to Christ and live by faith?

ANSWER: Die to self daily. That is done by waking up praying, getting in the Word first thing, and staying “plugged in” to God throughout the day. During the day, make decisions pleasing and acceptable to God. Don’t forget for one minute you are HIS ambassador. Find ways to serve Him. Trust Him with the problems you encounter throughout the day. Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, you learn to die to self daily and live for Him instinctively.

Remain true to the faith. Along our journey of faith, God knows when we need encouragement, when our flesh is weak and we need to be challenged to press on. I am no different than you or any other man. I have my times of weakness, my moments of doubt, those days when the battles are simply too fierce.

Satan is only too happy to seize those moments as he did when Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days and nights. He comes to tempt me, acting as my friend who is concerned about my well being, giving me all the justification I need to take my eyes off the prize. This is how satan will come to you as well. Listen to me carefully. SATAN IS A LIAR! HE IS NOT OUR FRIEND! HIS GOAL IS TO KILL, STEAL AND DESTROY….YOU AND ME!!!

Several months ago a dear friend sent me an excerpt from the writings of that great preacher and theologian from the 1800’s Charles Spurgeon. As God’s timing is always perfect, it came at a moment when I needed some encouragement. The weight of the work was extremely heavy and the flesh weary that day.

I sat at my desk and read Spurgeon’s’ words and tears literally ran down my cheeks as I was read about my life, my battles, my challenges in his poignant words. I have printed out that passage he wrote and keep it with me. I refer to it often since it so perfectly sums up my life. It also perfectly sums up the life of any follower of Christ who is sold out to serve the Lord until their dying breath.

I want to share those powerful words with you today. I pray that they will inspire and encourage you as much as they have me so many days. They really sum up what this journey is all about. There is perhaps no greater challenge we have as followers of Christ than to remain true to the faith.

So many over the years have been like Demas who we read about in the Book of Acts. Demas was a man serving God, but decided to turn back to the world. In those moments of temptation I often think back to the words of Peter. When asked by Jesus if he would turn away from the Lord Peter boldly responded in John 6:68, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life!” That is why the child of God presses on, remains true to the faith. To whom shall we go?

Spurgeon writes: “Perseverance is the badge of true saints. The Christian life is not a beginning only in the ways of God, but also a continuance in the same as long as life lasts. It is with a Christian as it was with the great Napoleon: he said, “Conquest has made me what I am, and conquest must maintain me.” So, under God, dear brother in the Lord, conquest has made you what you are, and conquest must sustain you. Your motto must be, “Excelsior.” He only is a true conqueror, and shall be crowned at the last, who continueth till war’s trumpet is blown no more. Perseverance is, therefore, the target of all our spiritual enemies. The world does not object to your being a Christian for a time, if she can but tempt you to cease your pilgrimage, and settle down to buy and sell with her in Vanity Fair. The flesh will seek to ensnare you, and to prevent your pressing on to glory. “It is weary work being a pilgrim; come, give it up. Am I always to be mortified? Am I never to be indulged? Give me at least a furlough from this constant warfare.” Satan will make many a fierce attack on your perseverance; it will be the mark for all his arrows. He will strive to hinder you in service: he will insinuate that you are doing no good; and that you want rest. He will endeavour to make you weary of suffering, he will whisper, “Curse God, and die.” Or he will attack your steadfastness: “What is the good of being so zealous? Be quiet like the rest; sleep as do others, and let your lamp go out as the other virgins do.” Or he will assail your doctrinal sentiments: “Why do you hold to these denominational creeds? Sensible men are getting more liberal; they are removing the old landmarks: fall in with the times.” Wear your shield, Christian, therefore, close upon your armour, and cry mightily unto God, that by His Spirit you may endure to the end.”

AMEN…AMEN….AND AMEN!!!

I love you and care about you so much. I pray today that you will pray over these powerful words, reading them over and over. They sum up so eloquently the challenge of remaining true to the faith. The challenge to not turn away from serving the Lord after a season to go back into the world. The temptation to indulge the flesh. The lies that the work you do for the Lord is all in vain and makes no difference.

The physical battle of fighting weariness and fatigue. Taking the easy road of compromise. The war against apathy and political correctness. These are all very real issues those who serve the Lord must face along their journey through life as they strive to remain true to the faith.

I pray today that these words will challenge and encourage you in your personal journey. It is our steadfastness and perseverance that satan will assail. A Christian does not scare satan, however, a Christian who is steadfast and perseveres no matter what life throws his way is the enemy’s worst nightmare!

I hear every day from people who tell me they have followed the exploits of Liverpayer over these many years and have been encouraged by the fact no matter what challenges come our way we keep pressing forward, faithfully serving the Lord and trusting Him each step of the way, and then see the incredible fruit from that steadfastness and perseverance. I try my best daily to set an example for you that Jesus has already won the victory, our responsibility is to simply remain true to the faith!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

A Great Tradition at Liveprayer is My Annual New Year’s Resolution Message

(Matthew 24:35)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, I attended a bible study on the Holy Spirit. I witnessed a lady who started laughing out loud, then yelling Jesus’ name and spoke in tongues (I think). Then she fell on the floor. I was told that she had the Holy Spirit in her. I would like your opinion on this.

ANSWER: Everyone at the time they are saved, at that instant, receive the promise of the “comforter,” or the Holy Spirit. However, it is up to each person to YIELD to that Spirit that indwells them. With the indwelling Holy Spirit, we also receive spiritual “gifts.” Here is a link to a Devotional I did on the Gifts of the Spirit that will detail what you are asking. http://www.liveprayer.com/ddarchive3.cfm?id=4845

A great tradition here at Liveprayer is my annual New Year’s resolution message. This the 16th year I have had the honor of sharing this special message, and tens of thousands of people have taken my challenge and read the Bible cover to cover in a year, something less than 10% of people who profess to be Christians have ever done. Have you? If not, I am praying that you will make this YOUR New Year’s resolution for 2015!

Having preached to several hundred thousand people in evangelistic meetings in churches of all denominations throughout the country, having ministered to millions via television and radio through the years, and having prayed for and intimately counseled thousands and thousands of people over my 22+ years of ministry…I would have to say the biggest problem I have encountered with Believers is the vast majority have never read the instruction manual!!!

Statistical research shows that less than 10% of professing Christians have ever read the entire Bible. The church as a whole is Biblically illiterate!

>From time to time in my Devotional I will give my opinion on an issue and I am very careful to always let you know when it is Bill Keller’s opinion. Most of the time I just let God’s words speak for themselves. There is not one issue, one thing we deal with in everyday life that is not covered in the Bible.

How many people are in terrible marriages where one spouse is a nonbeliever. Do you think God admonished us to “not be unequally yoked” for nothing? How about those dealing with horrible illnesses because they abused themselves over the years with alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, and food. Does God not tell us our body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit? How many families are ripped apart by bitterness and hatred when the Bible commands us to “have love one for another,” to “forgive as Christ has forgiven you,” and to “love your enemies.” I have to be honest. In many cases it is not as much rebellion towards God as it is complete ignorance of God’s Word.

Like many men, I get a new electronic toy and the first thing I do is open the box, toss the instructions to the side, and start “putting it together.” Usually after a period of time when it is not working or I have broken something, I grab the instructions and put it together correctly. How much easier would it have been if I had done that first. It is the same in our walk with God. Many people claim they can’t hear God. God may be talking to you and you can’t hear Him because you don’t know what to be listening for. The Bible is one way that God speaks to us. If you want to hear God, just read the Book.

I know that those who get this Devotional each day are of above average intelligence which is why I am very direct and to the point. I share things knowing that you are smart enough to understand what God expects you to do, I don’t have to paint a picture. So if you ever listened to me at all, listen to what I am going to say to you now. This applies to everyone, even those that may have read the Bible cover to cover 100 times.

***It takes an individual of average reading ability 90 hours to read the entire Bible. That is one hour a day for 3 months, or one half hour a day for 6 months, or 15 minutes a day for 12 months. Most people make New Year’s resolutions. Here is one for you with eternal rewards and will be more valuable than losing 10 pounds that you will just put back on. Carve out one hour, 30 minutes, or 15 minutes every day starting January 1st and start reading at Genesis 1:1. One hour, 30 minutes, or 15 minutes, you choose. I suggest that for those 90 days, or 6 months, or the next 12 months, you get up that amount of time earlier than normal and do it the very first thing. Trust me, God will give you the strength you need during the day. Losing a little sleep will not kill you. Quite the opposite. It will save you 100 times that in lost sleep over the years from problems caused because you didn’t take time to read the instruction book.

Now listen, I understand that some of the Old Testament can be dry. The Jewish laws, the genealogy of kings, some of the prophetic books can be very confusing and at times boring. Plug on. Don’t get discouraged because you don’t understand everything you are reading. Having read the Bible cover to cover many, many, many times, each time is a new experience for me. You might have accepted this challenge before. This message is still for you! DO IT AGAIN! YOU CAN NEVER GET TOO MUCH OF GOD’S WORD!!!

WARNING: I am not the Bible answer man so don’t start flooding me with questions. I’ll pray for you anytime, but I cannot handle thousands of Bible questions. I do suggest though you keep a notepad of questions and talk them over with your pastor.

Trust me when I tell you, reading the Bible cover to cover will change your life. You will see things you never thought were in the Bible. You will see God’s warnings and promises to help you through tough times. Most of all, you will start to understand how God thinks. How can you please God if you don’t understand how He thinks? He knows you are not a mind reader. That is one reason He gave you the Bible so you could begin to understand what God expects from your life.

I promise you the time you spend reading the Bible cover to cover will be the most important time of your life. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of what I am challenging you to do. Start at the very beginning. That way you can see God from the creation of our world, to the very end. It is better than any book or movie you have ever read or seen.

The Bible is our final authority for all matters concerning this life. In this day of being politically correct, accepting everyone’s beliefs and ideas, we are in the mess we are morally and spiritually because we have gotten away from the black and white truth of God’s Word. We have no one to blame but ourselves. In this day of instant gratification, drive thru food, cell phones, fax machines, email, Federal Express, jet travel, we want what we want now and refuse to wait.

We have become lazy which is why we don’t take the time to read the Bible. I guarantee you that you will spend 90 hours plus in front of the television, the computer, with the newspaper, or doing something else that you enjoy. I am not saying quit living and enjoying your life. What I am saying is that you have the time, it is only a matter of whether this is a big enough priority for you to take the time.

I love you, care about you, and my heart breaks every day as I read the thousands of prayer requests I receive. How much heartache and pain could have been avoided if people would have only read the Book and followed the instructions. You cannot believe how much sense this life makes when you are living under the direction of God’s Word. As I say often, our way does not work, God’s way does!

I will be praying that the Lord really opens your heart and conviction floods you right now as you read these words. I can’t force you to do it, you have to want to do it. I will be praying and trusting the Holy Spirit to move on your heart to take this challenge, even now as you read these words. This will be the best New Year’s resolution you will ever make.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

The Same Jesus We Read about in the Bible is the Very Same Jesus that is Alive to You Today

(Hebrews 13:8)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, what is wrong with being a Baptist?

ANSWER: The fact is, nobody is a Baptist, just like nobody is a Methodist, or Lutheran, or Catholic, or Pentecostal! Baptist is simply the name of a Christian church. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior by faith, that makes you a Christian. If you go to a Baptist church, you are not a Baptist but a Christian who attends a Baptist church. It may sound like semantics, but it is important people use correct terminology.

The same Jesus that we read about in the Bible, is the VERY SAME Jesus that is alive and available to YOU today! I don’t know if you have ever sat down and taken the time to fully comprehend the powerful truth of that statement or what it means for your life today. The same Jesus that we read about in the Bible is ALIVE TODAY! The same Jesus that met needs, worked miracles in the Bible, is the same Jesus that is meeting needs and working miracles THIS VERY DAY! What Jesus did for those in the Bible many years ago, He will do for you today!

The Devotional today is a bit different than most days. Several years ago during the opening monologue of my television program, the Holy Spirit began to speak through me this powerful truth. I went back to that program and created a word for word transcript of exactly what I said to my television audience that night, and I want to share those powerful words with you today. This would be a good day to go to the website and listen to the audio version of the Devotional that we post there each day, since this is a special word that you need to hear as well as read.

I pray that you will open your heart to receive this powerful truth today. I want you to know that no matter what your need is today, Jesus, not some mythical figure, but the JESUS IN THE BIBLE, is alive and well this very minute and ready to meet and exceed your every need.

(transcript from Liveprayer television program)

“Alright, I want to get into the phones tonight because I tell you what… I just sensed that as I was driving over here that people watching tonight, some people have never….never watched this program, some people never even thought about calling a program like this and you know what, there’s nothing magical about calling me but what it is, is simply a measure of your faith… …it’s a way to exercise your faith….you know in the Bible we read about people who had great needs in their life, especially during the ministry of Jesus, and some people went to great lengths to get into the presence of Jesus believing that He was the one that could meet their needs…..and they were right but they had to exercise their faith and put themselves in the position for Jesus to bless them in the way He did ….there’s nothing magical about calling me …I’m not the one who can meet your needs tonight….but the same Jesus that met needs in the Bible is….listen to this…listen to this…this is going to be a word that’s going to set people free tonight…listen to what I’m about to tell you…in the book of Hebrews, it says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever”…let me tell you what the significance of that verse of scripture is to you tonight…that means the very same Jesus that healed people in the Bible, the very same Jesus that set people free in the Bible, the very same Jesus who worked miracles in the Bible, that very same Jesus is here tonight to heal you, to set you free, and to work a miracle in your life…isn’t that powerful?.. and the very same way those people in the Bible had to exercise their faith, you have to exercise your faith tonight and there is a very simple way to do that…in a minute I’m going to put the phone up and you just call that and reach out and believe and the very same Jesus that healed, delivered, worked miracles, is the very same Jesus that tonight that can heal you, set you free, and work a miracle in your life… phew, it’s powerful… that’s why I laugh at people… you know that’s why I was laughing at um you know….I was just laughing at the ignorance…. of Kyle the other night….”oh it’s just a book written by a bunch of farmers”…heh, heh, heh, heh….that poor, poor, poor foolish young man…you know ….some people that watch this program they just think that this is nothing but a book …they have no clue…they have no clue….they have no clue the power of God’s Word…the Bible says of itself that it is sharper than any 2 edged sword….it just doesn’t cut you, it cuts right through everything, right to the quick..that’s how powerful it is….and the truth of this word for you tonight and I want you to hear and understand….is that this is revelation to a lot of people…this is enlightenment to a lot of people because you never really understood what I’m telling you right now…listen to me this is one of those moments when those light bulbs go off… ok?….the very same Jesus that you read about in this Book is the very same Jesus that’s alive and available to you tonight..this isn’t just a history book..you know, you read about Abraham Lincoln…well guess what…Abraham Lincoln is dead….Abraham Lincoln can’t do nothing for you tonight…you read about Gen. Patton..guess what General Patton is dead..he can’t do anything for those troops over in Iraq tonight…you read about the great historical figures of years gone by…and as wonderful as they were…as great as they were, they can’t do anything for you today because they’re dead…Jesus my friend, is alive and well and sitting at the right hand of God the Father ready to intercede for His children tonight and the very same Jesus that is alive and performing miracles in this Book is the very same Jesus that’s alive and performing miracles tonight this very moment…..and while you can read about Him in this Book you can know Him tonight…while you can be encouraged what He did to others in this Book know that this Book says He is no respecter of person….and the same Jesus that touched people in this Book is the same Jesus that can touch you tonight….and if you need that special touch from the Master, don’t sit on that couch tonight…arise…get to that phone..exercise your faith tonight…I read abut the woman with the issue of blood…how many people had an illness but weren’t willing to pay the price to go find Jesus…that’s why you don’t read about them…the one you read about is the one that exercised her faith..how many lame men of His day wanted to be healed but didn’t have enough faith to do what was necessary to go see Jesus…we read about the lame man that did have the faith to go see Jesus and he was healed because of his faith…how many of you watching tonight have a need in your life for healing for your marriage, for an addiction….for finances…..for employment….how many people tonight are watching this program right now that have a need in your life that won’t have your need met because you don’t have enough faith to even call the number….this isn’t a 900 …this isn’t a sham like Miss Cleo where you are going to get your phone bill charged $400….I don’t get any money by having you call this number….that is a point of contact for your faith….and if you need Jesus to touch your life tonight, get up out of your chair and go to your phone and exercise your faith tonight…the phone is coming up on your screen….I want you to call me right now because I’m ready to take some phone calls tonight…and see Jesus work in your life…”

I love you and care about you so much. This year at Liveprayer.com we received and responded to over 14 million emails for prayer. The praise reports that have come forth from those prayer requests are MIRACULOUS. That is because Jesus is still in the miracle business! I want to encourage you today just like I encouraged my television audience the evening I shared those words. There is nothing magical about emailing a prayer request to Liveprayer. What it is, is simply a point of contact for your faith. It is a way for you to exercise your faith in the Lord and say, “Lord, I need you.”

I know that every person reading these words is battling with something in their life today. I want you to know that Jesus is here to help you if you will simply call on His name. That is why at the end of every Devotional I give you my email address, bkeller@liveprayer.com and invite you to email me any time I can help you. I don’t have the answer to your problems, I can’t make your problems go away, but I know the One who can and I will lift you and your needs before the Lord and intercede on your behalf. When you have a need and send that email for prayer, you are exercising your faith that Christ is your hope and answer for whatever your problem may be.

I will be praying for you, and praying for you to never forget that Jesus is alive and well in 2014. He is still meeting needs and performing miracles just like He did in the Bible. I want to encourage you today that when you have a need, don’t ever hesitate to call on Him. HE WILL ANSWER! What an incredible truth when you think that the very same Jesus we read about in the pages of the Bible, is the very same Jesus that is alive and available to us today!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

The Greatest Gift You Can Give This Christmas are the Words of Everlasting Life

(John 3:16)

***A MOST BLESSED CHRISTMAS FROM LIVEPRAYER!!! ( Please click this special link for your Christmas greeting; http://liveprayer.com/mc14/ )

The greatest gift you can give anyone this Christmas are the words of everlasting life. Forward this to someone that you know who is lost, and pray that God will open their hearts to receive HIS gift to the world… JESUS CHRIST! Today is the day we celebrate the greatest gift ever given. We celebrate today the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, God’s gift to the world. Today is truly a day of rejoicing. Because of this gift from God, we can be forgiven of our sins and reunited with our Creator for eternity. So much of what I deal with each day in this Devotional is to help you walk through this short journey here on earth victoriously and productively. But we must never forget that our time here is very brief and there is an eternity waiting for us when this journey is complete. I want to focus for just a minute on this most blessed day, to that split second when our life on this earth is finished and we are launched into eternity. Do you this day have the assurance that when your life is complete, your eternity is going to be spent in Heaven?

If the answer to that question is anything but a resounding YES, then let me just share this simple truth with you. You see, our God, our Creator so loved this world, so loved His creation, that He sent His son, His only Son to be part of this world. Jesus had one mission in this life. It wasn’t to be a great teacher, though He was a great teacher. It wasn’t to be a great prophet, though He was a great prophet. It wasn’t to be a great miracle worker, though He did work many great miracles. No my friend, Jesus came to this world with only one job…to die.

You see, the reason it was vital for Jesus to be immaculately conceived by God and born of a virgin was so that He was not infected with the same problem you and I were born into this life with….sin. Otherwise, the best He could have done was die for His own sins. Jesus lived on this earth for some 33 years before it was time to complete His work. That work was finished on a cross on the hill called Calvary where He hung and then died as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of this world.

That is why, whosoever believes in Jesus, shall not perish for eternity, but have everlasting life! Believing in Jesus is the only way to be saved because it was Jesus who died and was sacrificed for our sins. There are no other ways to be saved, no other roads back to God, there are no other plans of salvation. This is God’s one and only plan to reconcile his fallen creation back to Himself. This is the only way you can escape eternity apart from the God who created you in His own image. It is through His grace and by faith in Jesus Christ!

There are many incredible mysteries in the Bible. There are many doctrinal issues that will never be fully understood until we are in Heaven. But God made the most important decision of this life very easy and simple to understand. He gave every one the opportunity to have their sins washed away and be assured of an eternity in Heaven.

That is why we celebrate Christmas today! That is why we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. The most important decision you will make in this life is not who you will marry, where you will live, what kind of job you will have. The most important decision you will make in this life is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

If you have not done that yet, the Bible says that today is the day of salvation. I would invite you to go to my website, http://www.liveprayer.com and click on the button that says PLAN OF SALVATION ( direct link: http://www.liveprayer.com/plan.cfm ). Read those words, pray that prayer, and accept today God’s gift to you this Christmas, the gift of His son Jesus.

I love you and care about you deeply. For those of you who already know Christ as your Savior, I would encourage you to forward this email to someone you know who is lost and without hope this Christmas. What better present to give someone than the opportunity to know Jesus as their Savior.

I pray today that you will take time out of the busy day of travel, visiting friends and family, to focus on the gift God has given to us in His son Jesus. He gave His very best gift to us, which is why I will continue to encourage you to give your very best everyday to Him.
