Suicide

(Genesis 2:7)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: ***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, give me your strength to stand for your Truth no matter what the cost. It is easy to call myself a follower of Jesus, but when confronted, when challenged, when faced with persecution, will I still say I am a follower of Jesus? I love you Lord and ask for your strength so no matter what I have to endure for my faith, I will stand firm. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

One of the saddest things that I have to deal with every single day is the tragedy of someone taking their own life. The fact is, right now there are people reading these words who are actually contemplating killing themselves. If this is you, or if you have had thoughts of killing yourself, know that it is no accident you are reading these words today. God is trying to speak to you, so please, LISTEN TO HIM!

You see my friend, God not only loves you very much, but He is the one who gave you your life and wants you to live. It is satan who wants you dead! Never forget that satan has come to what, KILL, steal, and destroy! Satan wants you dead! The thoughts you have of killing yourself don’t come from God, they come from satan. He is the one telling you that you would be better off dead. He is the one who is telling you that you should just give up and kill yourself. He is the one who is telling you that the best answer to your problems is to take your life. He is the one who is telling you that everyone else will be better off if you were dead. He is the one who is telling you that your life is meaningless and it is not worth living any longer.

SATAN IS A LIAR! In John 8:44, Jesus tells us that he is the “father of lies,” that when he speaks, he “speaks his native language,” LYING! The thoughts you have of killing yourself are coming directly from the pits of hell, from the very lips of that liar satan!

God on the other hand wants you to LIVE! God is Truth! It is God who is telling you to live. It is God who loved you so much He sent His very Son to die for your sins. It is God who is telling you to cast your cares on Him and let Him see you through those difficult times. It is God who says you are not alone, that He will never leave you nor forsake you. It is God who is telling you that your life has meaning and purpose. It is God who is telling you that He has given you life and life abundantly. It is God who is telling you to trust Him and LIVE!

So what this really boils down to is who do you listen to, satan, who is a liar, or God, who speaks Truth? Seriously, if you are having thoughts of killing yourself or if you have ever had thoughts of killing yourself, you have got to understand where those thoughts are coming from and ultimately make the choice who you are going to listen to. If you are having thoughts of killing yourself today, or if you have ever had those thoughts, make sure you take a moment to ask yourself the critical question of who you are going to listen to, satan, a liar who wants you dead, or God, who represents Truth and wants you to live.

Now let me answer one of the most asked questions I get each day. Killing yourself does NOT keep you from Heaven, the only thing that keeps you from Heaven is rejecting Christ as your Savior. *THIS DOES NOT MEAN IT IS OK TO KILL YOURSELF OR A PASS TO COMMIT SUICIDE!!! Make no mistake, killing yourself IS a sin. To even think of suicide is rebelling against God. However, the ONLY sin that will send you to hell is rejecting Christ. If you have truly accepted by faith Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and you commit suicide, you will spend eternity with God your Creator.

The reason suicide is a sin is because it is God who gives us life for the purpose of serving and glorifying Him, and it is ONLY God who can say when our work here on earth is finished. Remember, if you accept Him into your heart it is NOT your life any longer, it belongs to Him. That means it is NOT your right to end your life. That right only belongs to God. Suicide is an act of rebellion towards God!.

I know there are some people who erroneously believe that if you kill yourself you can’t go to Heaven since you died without repenting of that sin. According to that erroneous theology, if you commit a sin, have a massive heart attack and die instantly without confessing that sin you committed prior to dying you would be lost for all eternity. Sorry, but that is simply not what the Bible teaches.

Some may ask, what are the consequences of the sin of suicide since it ends your life? One of the consequences of all sin is it keeps us from enjoying our relationship with the Lord. Sin keeps us from being all God wants us to be. Sin keeps us from knowing the joy, the peace, the abundance the Lord promised to us in this life. Those who commit suicide have already allowed the enemy to blind them to God’s love, otherwise, they would never make such a horrible choice. Someone who commits this act misses the fulfillment of God’s perfect plan for their life. It is a very sad way to end this wonderful journey, and a way God never intended!

Suicide is really nothing more than an act of cowardice and is one of the most selfish things anyone can ever do. Despite all the reasons that satan the liar gives you to kill yourself, it really boils down to the fact that only a coward chooses this course of action. Rather than deal with the problems of life, fight through them, work towards victory in the power God can give you, you chose instead to simply stop living altogether. That my friend is a coward’s answer to their problems.

Suicide is also one of the most selfish acts a person can commit. One of the great lies satan feeds a person thinking about killing themselves is that their family and friends would be better off if they were dead. The truth is, a person who kills themself leaves behind family and friends, who in many cases, spend the rest of their life carrying around unnecessary guilt over what role they may have played in causing the person to kill themselves. I deal daily with family members and friends of a person who has committed suicide and they experience tremendous guilt over what they may have done to force their loved one or friend into taking their life.

*To you family members and friends of someone who has committed suicide, YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THEY CHOSE TO DO! They, not you, made this sad and tragic choice. So please, don’t put yourself under the unnecessary burden of carrying around guilt from something you didn’t cause and didn’t do.

Let me speak directly to anyone who may be contemplating suicide this very moment. It is God who gives us this precious gift we call life. Dealing daily with some of the most incredible human situations you can ever imagine, I understand the pain, the difficulty, the hopelessness so many live with each day. It is always at the lowest points in our life when the enemy attacks us. Like with everything, there are always scenarios, always circumstances we can point to, but sin is sin, and no amount of justification changes that. THERE IS ALWAYS AN ANSWER OTHER THAN SIN!!!!

I love you, and I care about you more than you will ever know. The pain I feel daily as I walk with you in your time of need is sometimes overwhelming. But I keep the truth and promise of God’s Word in my heart, and the hope and love we have in Christ in my every thought. I will be praying today for you, that you will never even consider suicide as an option. IT IS NOT AN OPTION BECAUSE YOUR LIFE BELONGS TO GOD. Only God can say when it is over.

Instead of focusing on the lies of the enemy, on the pain and the circumstances in your life, look instead to the Truth we find in God’s Word, the promises and hope we have in Christ and the fact God will ALWAYS give us a path of escape. God has a wonderful and perfect plan for your life. The key is you have to be alive for that plan to unfold. Don’t ever take this wonderful gift of life for granted, because it will be over soon enough. In the meantime, we need to be focused on what it is God wants from our life, what it is God wants us to accomplish each day for Him.

Let me leave with you two powerful truths from God’s Word. The first is, He loves you so very much. The second is, He is a God of answers. Embrace His love for you today, and let Him help you find the answers to those questions you have. There is only one option if you know Christ as your savior and that is to LIVE for Him.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

A Spouse Who Cheats

(Exodus 20:14)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: ***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, give me your strength to stand for your Truth no matter what the cost. It is easy to call myself a follower of Jesus, but when confronted, when challenged, when faced with persecution, will I still say I am a follower of Jesus? I love you Lord and ask for your strength so no matter what I have to endure for my faith, I will stand firm. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

Perhaps there is no subject more personal, more emotional, and more difficult to deal with than that of a spouse who cheats. First of all, there is absolutely NO justification for cheating on your spouse. Point blank. It is a sin in God’s eyes. Man has tried in his own feeble way to categorize sin. Bad sins, and really bad sins. Sin is sin in the eyes of God, no matter what it involves, since sin is an act of rebellion towards God.

There is no arguing however, because of the intimate and sensitive nature of adultery, it is a highly visible sin because of the raw emotions involved. Having laid that foundation, let me look for a minute at this topic from both sides. That of the person who has committed adultery, and that of the spouse who has been cheated on.

First of all, for anyone who has committed adultery, you have to understand some basic issues. First is that what you have done is a sin in God’s eyes, no matter how you may try to justify or spin it. There is NO circumstance that makes adultery acceptable. Second, anyone who has been involved in this type of behavior knows deep down inside the incredible price you end up paying, for what boils down to a few moments of pleasure. Like all sin, you pay a very high price for what you end up receiving.

Having dealt with this issue in literally thousands of cases over the years, I can assure you that there is NEVER a positive ending. These relationships, due to the foundation on which they are built, never last long, and if they do, are never filled with the joy and peace life has to offer. Remember, God cannot and will not bless sin. So you go off into this new relationship on a foundation of sin and deceit, without the blessings of God. How can you ever expect it to work?!

So what is the answer? Simple. Repent, get right with God, and then begin the long, long process of getting back into a correct relationship with your spouse. This will take lots of time, lots of effort, and things will never be 100% the way they were before. However, God can heal and help you and your spouse find His peace and love again to live many happy years together. It is not hopeless.

But you have to be willing to repent, get right with God, and then take the steps necessary to get right with your spouse. God is able to do all things, and you will need His help and strength each step of the way, but He will honor your commitment. Don’t give up, that is what the enemy wants you to do.

For the spouse that has been cheated on, it becomes a time for you to find a level of faith and trust in God you never experienced before. Because of the deep hurt and wounds, God is your only source of strength during this time. While the Bible in the New Testament does give a scriptural “out” in a marriage when adultery is involved, the reading of the complete Word still proclaims it is God’s plan for one man, one woman, one lifetime. That must be your goal.

You will need to spend much time in prayer for your spouse. They need your prayers to overcome the wrongs they have done. You will need to spend much time in prayer with the Lord to keep in focus that you are loved. Many spouses who have been cheated on feel that they are to blame. Listen. You CANNOT control the actions of your spouse. You CANNOT be responsible for what they do. Quit blaming yourself for their actions! Know that in Christ you are loved and worthy.

Lastly, you will need LOTS of prayer to have a forgiving heart. This, of course, is the most difficult hurdle to overcome. It is not possible in our strength. Only God can give you a forgiving heart to go on. Ultimately, the key will be in your focus on the Lord. Your faith, your trust in the Lord will be tested and stretched. It is in times like this when your faith becomes very real.

There is absolutely no way in just a few paragraphs I can deal with an issue like this that can fill a library full of books. I have tried to give you the bottom line from both sides of this issue. It will all boil down to each spouse’s commitment to the Lord to overcome this part of your life. The cheating individual will need the Lord to overcome the sin committed and get back into a right relationship with the spouse, and the spouse will need the Lord to overcome the intense emotions and feelings to allow the spouse back into a place of trust in the relationship.

There is no way things can ever be the same again; however, the Lord is still in the healing business, and He can help work things out so there is still a loving, fruitful relationship for many years to come. The key is trusting God and not giving up.

I love you, and I care about you deeply. I realize from all of the emails we get each day how prevalent this issue is. I will be praying for you today, both those who have committed adultery and those spouses who have been cheated on. I realize the heartache and pain you are going through. If I can help in any way, don’t hesitate to email me; I will do my best. I cannot do marriage counseling over email, but I can pray and give some basic direction.

My main point today is that God is still on the throne, He is still in control, and despite our rebellion…..He will have the final word. Jesus said, “be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.” That includes the sins in this world like adultery.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Never Follow A Man but THE MAN!

(John 13:15; Hebrews 12:2; 1 Peter 2:21)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, this nation is under your judgment for our sin, wickedness, and rebellion. Help me to be courageous as I stand for you in these perilous times. Use me as a beacon of your light in the darkness of our world today. Though our enemies surround us, the world around me curses you, help me to stand for your Truth that will ultimately defeat the lies of satan. May the evil of this world become so apparent, people will begin to bow their knee to you in repentance knowing YOU are their only hope and only answer! In the name of Jesus…AMEN!!!

One of the major complaints of nonbelievers is that Christians are hypocrites. Those who don’t even know the great stories of the Bible can tell you in great detail the stories of Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, and the preacher down the street who ran off with his secretary. It is one of the most common objections of an unbeliever, that he would be a Christian, but those who claim to be a Christian don’t act like Christians.

I am sure there were many in the first days of the church who said, “I would be a Christian, but look at what Peter did. This man who claimed to be a follower of Jesus denied him. Not once, but THREE times!!” It is a valid point. The fact is, however, a Christian is nothing more than a sinner who is saved by grace. Even though we are saved, we are still frail, prone-to-sin creatures living in a sin-filled environment. That in no way excuses our sin, but it is the reality we live in.

The quickest way to fall away from your faith is to put too much emphasis on a man or woman of God. God uses human instruments to plant the seeds of salvation. He uses human instruments to disciple us in our new-found faith. He uses human instruments to impact our spiritual lives. In a society that is prone to idolize others, such as entertainers, athletes, and successful people, we take that into our Christian lives as well.

We place on pedestals our spiritual leaders. We normally only see them when they are “on”, when they are doing what God has called them to do. Because of that, we almost tend to forget they are humans, men and women who walk in the same frail clay bodies as we do, prone to the same weaknesses that we are. Since we rarely see these spiritual leaders other than the times they are doing the Lord’s work, we lose sight that it is only a part of their life. They have lives outside of their work for the Lord.

THEY ARE ONLY AS CLOSE TO GOD AS THEIR DAILY WALK WITH THE LORD.

Because they are in the spotlight, when they fail, when they sin, it is often made known to the public. Our first reaction is “how can that be possible?” Nobody is immune to sin. No matter who you are, your life flows from your personal relationship with Christ. A minister, a priest, or a spiritual leader is only as close to God as his or her daily walk. Like anyone, if they neglect their daily time with the Lord, they get farther away from God. It is only possible to minister to others from your own personal walk with Christ. As you neglect that daily time with the Lord, you start to be disconnected. You may have some spiritual gasoline left in your tank, but eventually you will use that up.

Those spiritual leaders who fail, fail because they have neglected their time with God. Someone who is in the Lord’s work has to guard, more than anyone else, against neglecting their daily time with Christ. There is a very real enemy who is out to kill, steal, and destroy. The enemy is very wise in the art of warfare. Why waste time working on taking out people one by one, when if you can take out a leader, you can wipe out many people at once. The enemy knows that to take down a Jim Bakker or the pastor of a local church, he can take out many people at one time.

The key point I want you to understand today is that you must keep focused on THE man, and not A man. Christ was the only one who did it perfect. My personal philosophy is to take the spiritual wisdom from other men and women of God, but never idolize them, never expect them to be more than the man or woman of flesh and blood they are, but realize that God has touched them in a special way and given them something that can benefit my spiritual life.

I have always called it my spiritual filter. Being in full-time ministry for the last 24 years, having been in over 500 churches of every type and denomination, having spoken at hundreds of conventions, being involved for many years in the Christian TV world, I have had a unique opportunity to see an incredible number of God’s choicest servants of our day. The list is a who’s who of spiritual giants.

However, no matter who the person was, I always do two things. I always line up what they said with the Word of God. That is test number one. I don’t care who it is. If it is not in line with the Word of God, it is not something I want. Second, I always look at the man or woman of God as an instrument God was using. I never expected them to be supernatural or anything other than a vessel God was using to bring spiritual truths into my life. The only person I ever idolized, or tried to pattern my life after, was the life of Christ. I have always taken what I can from men and women of God, and tried to use that to help me in my quest to be more like Christ each and every day.

I love you, and care about you so much. Today’s word is an important reminder to never get so focused on a man or woman of flesh and blood, that you let it get in the way of your own personal walk with Christ. God has placed men and women of God in our lives to help teach us and show us the truths of His Word. However, no matter how close to the Lord they may be, the only one we should ever try to pattern our lives after is Jesus Christ, because He is the only one who lived this life without sin. He is our example and the one each one of us should strive to be like.

Take time today to pray for those God has placed in spiritual leadership over you, your pastor or priest. Pray for those that God brings into your life to share the truths of His Word and to help you grow spiritually. But never lose sight that they are mere mortals, men and women of flesh and blood like you and me. Never let your eyes focus so much on a man, that you lose sight of THE man. After all, no man could die for your sins. It was THE man who loved you so much, that He willingly bled and died so that you might have everlasting life. Keep your eyes focused on HIM.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

If You Believe It, Will You Live It in Your Daily Life?

(1 Kings 18:21)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Lord, keep my mind free of the filth of this world. Cleanse it each day with your Word and let my thoughts be your thoughts. Help me this day to dwell on you and your love as I live my life for your glory. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

There is no question that if you believe something, or if you have a passion for something, it shows in your daily life. Those who have a passion for sports, live and breathe sports. Those who have a love for classical music, will have a collection of classical music CDs and attend live events where classical music is played. Those who have a passion for politics are obvious when they speak about the political issues of the day. People who believe in something, who have a passion for something, live that belief in their daily life.

The question I have for you today is this. If you have committed your life to Christ, and you believe what the Bible says, do you live that belief in your day-to-day life?

The Bible profoundly states that you will know a tree by the fruit it bears. You see, a tree may claim to be an apple tree, but unless it produces apples that claim is empty. The proof that it is an apple tree is when it produces the apples. We can claim to be Christian, but unless we are producing the fruits of a Christian life, that claim is empty. Some of the fruit a Christian produces is found in the book of Galatians, Chapter 5, verses 22 and 23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” These become the outward evidence of our inward commitment to Christ.

You see my friend, the fact is if we really believe in the truth of God’s Word and in Jesus Christ, we will live out that belief each and every day in our life. The more passionately we believe in something, the more passionately we live out those beliefs. My goal today is to challenge you to reflect on your faith in Christ, and how you live out that faith in the course of your daily life.

I get discouraged to see people who have chosen to reject the truth of God’s Word and Jesus Christ in their life, living out their beliefs with passion each day. Those who are lost and blinded by sin passionately commit their lives each day to living out the sinful path they have chosen to walk. Nothing stops them. Nothing gets in their way. They are focused and will not be deterred. However, too many who profess faith in Christ and believe the Bible to be true, will waver; and meekly and shyly tiptoe through their day, trying to make sure nobody ever really knows what they believe.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO NOT LIVE PASSIONATELY FOR CHRIST EACH AND EVERY DAY IF YOU REALLY BELIEVE IN HIM!!!

I love you, and care about you so much. My prayer today is that you will take a few minutes and ask God to strengthen your convictions and give you the boldness and courage to live your faith each and every day. Let there be no doubt in anyone’s mind which God you serve. Let there be no doubt in anyone’s mind who is your King. Let there be no doubt in anyone’s mind that you are a blood-bought, born-again, son or daughter of the living God!!! Live out your faith in Christ each and every day for the world to see!!! If you believe it, live it!!!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Mental and Health Challenges

(Deuteronomy 10:12; Matthew 9:9)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, help me to focus on the fact that while as a nation and people we operate in a political infrastructure, the answers for our nation are not political but spiritual! Only through the Gospel transforming lives can this nation once again rise up and be the GOD BLESSED land we once were. Help us Lord to not be distracted by the “noise” of the political world, but stay focused on the one and only answer for our land, turning back to Almighty God and HIS Truth!!! In the name of Jesus…AMEN!!!

“As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.” – Matthew 9:9 (NIV)

Each day this ministry is in prayer for people of all ages who are dealing with tremendous mental and health challenges. Many prayer requests we get each day are simply for God to give them a moment’s relief from the pain in their body. Sadly, every day we are in prayer for people who have had a family member or close friend die. The reality of this life is that because of sin, our bodies do break down and become sick at some point. Death is a reality that each one of us will face one day. That is why today I want to encourage and challenge you to not waste even one day that God can use your life in His service.

I look back over my life and zero in on that 12-year period when I was not walking with the Lord, living in rebellion to God, His Word, and most of all, His plan for my life. During those years, God blessed me with a clear mind, perfect health, tremendous energy, things that you cannot put a price tag on. I took those incredible blessings from God for granted and instead of using my life to serve Him, chose instead to serve myself. I took those precious gifts from God and did not use them to bring glory to Him, but to myself. I took for granted life itself, acting like it would never end, when the Bible clearly teaches that tomorrow is promised to none of us.

Even though I am only 58 and God has continued to bless me with a clear mind (though some may argue that point on certain days), tremendous energy, and great health, I never take one day for granted, since I know that I wake up each morning and my mind and body continue to function only by the grace of God. That is why each day I do my very best to give God everything that I have. God gives His very best to me each day, how can I give Him anything less than my best?

So exactly what is God calling you to do? Many think serving God means selling everything you have and going to live in some far off jungle. While God does burden many people to serve Him in a missionary capacity, most people God calls to serve Him right where they are at in their life. Don’t think for a second that it is an accident or coincidence you go to school where you do or that you work where you do. It is God who opened those doors and has placed you for this season of your life right where He wants you to be.

GOD NEEDS HIS CHILDREN IN EVERY SCHOOL, IN EVERY TYPE OF BUSINESS, IN EVERY OCCUPATION!

Never forget that your greatest witness for the Lord will always be how you live your life before others each day. People do notice. Also, the greatest thing you can share with someone, after how they can be saved, is what Jesus has done in your life. You are a living testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ! God has you at the school you go to, at the job you work at, living where you do, meeting people in the course of your daily activities, for a reason and purpose. Especially today where the better part of two full generations don’t go to church, you are the only Bible they will ever read and the only contact with Christ they will ever have.

NOBODY IS IN YOUR LIFE BY ACCIDENT!

However, there are some of you reading this today that God IS calling to a new level of commitment and service, and you know exactly who you are. God is speaking to you clearly through this message today. He is telling you that now is the time to step out in faith and trust Him. He has given you a special burden to serve Him and wants you to trust Him today. This word is simply His confirmation of what He has already been talking to you about. The fear and doubt you have are coming from satan. Now is the time to step out in faith, trust Him, and do with your life what you know God is calling you to do.

I love you and care about you so much. Our life is made up of different seasons, and in each season God gives us opportunities to serve Him. We do not have the promise of tomorrow, only the reality of today. I pray today that you will not waste this precious gift God has given to you. He has allowed you to wake up for a reason, and the ultimate reason is so that you can serve and glorify Him with your life. Should you be blessed with many years of life, at some point your body will begin to break down. You will experience sickness and poor health. Eventually you will die.

That is why during this season where you have a clear mind and good health, the mental and physical ability to do great things for God, you have to take advantage of them. Don’t allow satan to lull you into the belief that you will always be able to serve the Lord in the future. His lie is that you need to worry about yourself now, and you can serve God later. God has called ALL of His children, no matter what age you are, to serve Him now, not tomorrow. It is God, NOT YOU, that will provide for your day-to-day needs along your journey as He has promised.

In closing, I again want to speak directly to those of you who have been struggling with God’s calling on your life. For most, you are right where He wants you to be for this season. Keep being the salt of the earth, the light to this world in your school and in your workplace. But for some of you, God is calling you to step out in faith and fully and unconditionally surrender your life to Him today. He wants to use you in a special way in serving His Kingdom.

My counsel to you is this. Be honored God wants to use you. We get a few opportunities along our journey to do something great with our life. Not in the way the world judges greatness, but in the way God judges greatness. There is nothing greater you can do with your life than to serve the Lord. Step out in faith and trust the Lord to guide you and meet your every need, as you answer His call to service. God is calling you to make a difference with your life NOW!!!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

A Challenge for You Today!

(John 3:1-21)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, please watch over me today and keep me from all harm. I look to you for protection from the evil in this world. Father, you know my challenges today. I give them to you. Let me be about your business today, as I know you will be about mine. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

Ministry is often incorrectly identified as what those who have the title Rev. after their name and preach on Sunday do. WRONG! While that is an example of ministry, most ministry happens in a one-on-one setting as one who knows Christ shares HIS love and hope with someone else. ALL people who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior are called to be “ministers.” This is not something that we can choose to, or not to do, but it is part of who we become when we accept Christ as our Savior.

I have been blessed by God over my 24 years in full-time ministry to have spoken to literally hundreds of thousands of people at churches, millions via radio and television, and millions more over the last 17 years on the Internet and 12 years on TV. But God told me one day, verrrrry early in my ministry as I was sharing His love with someone in a one-on-one setting, that “no matter what I would ever do for God, nothing was greater than what I was doing at that moment!!!” WOW!!! We are so used to judging “success” by huge numbers, we forget that Jesus spent the majority of HIS ministry sharing His love and hope in one-on-one settings.

I have a challenge for YOU today. I don’t care how old you are, or what you may do for a living. My challenge to YOU today is to find someone, someone that you would never normally interact with, and talk to them about Jesus. In the passage of Scripture that I expect you to read today (at the top of this Devotional), Jesus sought out someone that He probably would have never had any communication with. What did He do? He shared the plan of salvation with him.

I am asking you to find someone today, go to them and simply share with them the fact that Jesus loves them, and that He is the way, the truth, the life!!! God will tell you today WHO that person is. The challenge is to make it your number one priority to go to that person and share how Jesus has impacted YOUR life.

I love you and care about you so much. The greatest thing ANY of us can do for God is to share His love, His grace, with someone who needs to know that love and grace in their life. Make time today to find someone who needs the love of Jesus in their life. YOU will be God’s messenger to share that love with them. God will use you as HIS instrument if you will simply be obedient.

NOTHING THAT YOU WILL DO IN YOUR LIFE WILL BE MORE IMPORTANT!!!

The destination of the human soul is VERY important to the Lord. THAT is why He took the time in His ministry to share in a one-on-one setting with so many. Make it YOUR goal today to be like Jesus, and share His love, His hope, with someone that you know who needs the Lord in their life. I am praying for you today as you take this challenge and God uses you to make a difference in someone’s life. BE LIKE JESUS!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

The “Sex Spirit”

(Romans 14:12; Jeremiah 31:30; Ezekiel 18:20)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, I ask you today to open my heart and my Spirit to receive what you have for me today. Let me hear Your voice clearly and obediently follow You. Use me oh Lord, for your glory and to advance Your Kingdom! In the name of Jesus…AMEN!!!

The “sex spirit.” This is the spirit that is responsible for fornication, adultery, lust, homosexuality, and every other sexual sin. After all, we know there has to be some reason so many people commit sexual sin and the “sex spirit” is the answer. Since sexual sin is something almost everyone fights at some point in their life, I should actually write a book about the “sex spirit.” It would sell millions of copies worldwide to people who are Christians as well as to those who are not. It would actually be a best seller in the homosexual community and to others who have rejected God’s plan for sex since it would explain their actions. I could actually take a few verses here and a few verses there to even make a Biblical case for the “sex spirit.”

However, there is only one small problem, THERE IS NO SUCH THING!!! I am sorry to have to tell you this, but there is NO “sex spirit.” It doesn’t exist. Oh trust me, I know people want it to exist. They want something to blame their sinful behavior on and blaming it on a “sex spirit” would be perfect. You see, if there really was a “sex spirit,” then you don’t have to take responsibility for YOUR CHOICES since it wasn’t you, it was the “sex spirit” that made you do it.

When you read the Bible cover to cover, one of the things you understand is that the Bible is a book of personal responsibility. We are personally responsible for the choices we make in our life. Blaming someone or something else doesn’t work! Ever since man committed the very first sin in the Garden of Eden, he has been trying to blame his sin on someone or something else. Look at Adam. When confronted with his sin by God what did he do? HE BLAMED GOD AND EVE!!! Like I say so often, we have not changed one bit since the Garden. But God was not interested in Adam’s excuse and God is not interested in your excuse either.

I’m not sure if you noticed lately, but God is one smart guy. You see, God gave us something called “free will.” Free will means we are NOT pre-programmed robots, but have the ability to make our own choices throughout our life. The upside to this is that we can choose to do whatever we want. If you want to be an Adolph Hitler and commit your life to destroying lives and killing millions of people, you can do it. If you want to be a Billy Graham and commit your life to preaching the Gospel to the world and be used by God to bring millions to know Christ as their Savior, you can do it. Free will means you have the ability to choose to do whatever you want.

Because God gave man free will, it also means that we are PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE for the choices that we make. Now I understand in today’s society accepting personal responsibility is not popular. We have to always find a “reason” why people do the things they do. Children that are hyperactive, have way too much energy, who act like children should are now told they have ADD or ADHD. While in a percentage of cases there may be a medical issue that exists, in most cases it is simply an excuse for children that have not been properly disciplined or are simply just being kids.

No place do we see people making excuses for their choices more than in the criminal justice system. It is the job of well paid defense lawyers to dream up excuses to explain away a person’s criminal actions. They have come up with every reason you can imagine to explain why a person who committed a crime was not really responsible for their actions. This mentality has permeated to every part of our society, and finding reasons to explain why people are not responsible for the choices they make has become an art.

Let me make sure you understand, this may work in the world in which we live, but it doesn’t work with God. God has given us free will to make our own choices, but along with that freedom, comes the responsibility for whatever choices we make. God is not interested in your excuse why you sinned, only in you taking responsibility for that sin. He has even given us a wonderful promise in 1 John 1:9 that tells us, if we will confess our sins, take personal responsibility for our sins, He will not only forgive us but cleanse us from all unrighteousness. All God wants us to do is to be honest, not make excuses, and take personal responsibility for the choices we make.

I love you and care about you so much. I am sorry that there is no “sex spirit,” or anything else you can blame for sin in that area. God has given us the choice to either obey Him, or disobey Him. When we choose to disobey Him, it was not another person, a “spirit,” or anything else we can blame. It was OUR CHOICE. I will be praying for you today, praying that you will realize that you have got to be responsible for whatever choices you make in this life. You, and you alone made those choices, and you, and you alone have to be responsible for the choices you make.

This is why the moment we die and stand before God, there is only one question He is going to ask us. It is not what day of the week we went to church. It is not the name of the building we choose to worship Him in. It is not how successful you may have been in this life. No my friend, the only question God is going to ask you is, “Do you have a personal relationship by faith with my Son Jesus.” You either do, or you don’t. If you do, God will welcome you into His presence for eternity. If you don’t, you will be eternally separated from God your Creator. Period.

If you don’t, God is NOT going to be interested in any of your excuses. “Jim and Tammy had an air conditioned dog house.” The pastor in my church ran off with the choir director.” “Somebody was mean to me at church.” “Christians are hypocrites.” “I don’t like Bill Keller.” “All they care about is money.” ” I was a good person.” “The Bible was written by mere men.” “My dog ate my homework.” No, God is not going to be interested in hearing any of your excuses for why you rejected Jesus Christ as your Savior. That is a personal decision each person must make in this life, and each person will be held responsible by God for eternity for that decision.

If you have not made the decision to accept Christ into your heart and life by faith, the Bible says that TODAY is the day of salvation. I would invite you to go to, http://www.liveprayer.com/bdy_salvatn.cfm . Pray to ask God to open your heart, read the words, pray the prayer, and accept today God’s gift to you of everlasting life through His son Jesus Christ.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller
