Happy Resurrection Day

(Matthew 28:5-7)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, regarding the rapture. When the dead in Christ will be raised, does that include the OT Saints also? If not, when will they be raised?

ANSWER: That is exactly when they will be raised. AMEN!

HE IS RISEN!!!!!!!! Today, marks the greatest historical event in human history…the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The reason the resurrection of Jesus is the greatest historical event is because it is the absolute key to our faith. Paul said in his first letter to the church at Corinth in the 15th chapter, that if Christ did not rise from the dead, then we are still dead in our sin and most vain of all. However, if He did rise from the dead, then we have the assurance our sins are forgiven and of everlasting life.

You see, Jesus is either the biggest fraud in the history of mankind or He is exactly who He claims to be…the Son of God. The resurrection is the key event.

The historical evidence of Christ’s resurrection is irrefutable. The fact that he died on a Roman cross, the claims of followers seeing the risen Lord, evidence of the empty tomb, the inability of the Jewish leaders to disprove the resurrection claims in the very city Jesus died and was buried, and the radical transformation in the lives of His disciples are all well documented. His disciples went from being normal men concerned only about their own welfare from the night Jesus was arrested, to bold preachers who were willing to die for their faith. You also have Jesus’ own predictions of His resurrection as well as the fact that soon after was the birth of the Christian church that started meeting on Sunday. That is significant since these were monotheistic Jews who were used to worshipping on Saturday.

My friend, the Christian faith has never meant to be a blind leap in the dark. God never asked His children to just believe without any evidence of what we believe in. He has given us plenty of tangible historical evidence to help us know without a doubt that what is in His inspired, inerrant Word is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH. Absolute truth that you can stake your very life on. Of course, once we get to the point we accept the resurrection as a fact, and we accept His Word as TRUTH, it then demands that we totally and unconditionally surrender our very life to Him.

That becomes the logical conclusion of this spiritual journey. Because you see, it is not our life any longer, it belongs to Him. Our purpose is to simply serve and glorify Him with our lives. I pray that on this day in which we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, you will recommit your life to Him. We can all do better. None of us have given it ALL to Him…we can give Him more. Make this day the day that you realize that Jesus rose from the dead, to insure that you will live for eternity with Him if you have accepted Him into your heart and life by faith.

I love you and care about you so very much. I pray you have a wonderful Resurrection Day. For those traveling to be with your family, you will be in my prayers for a safe journey. May you be richly blessed as we stand together to proclaim to this hurting and dying world that Jesus Christ is the Lord of Lords, and the King of Kings….HE IS RISEN!!!

In His love and service,

Easter is One of Two Times a Year Everyone Who Professes to Believe in God Goes to Church

(Hebrews 10:25)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, the Bible says to assemble with other Christians which would be going to church for one, but that is a work. No good work will get you to heaven. So if you don’t go to church every Sunday is that a sin?

ANSWER: NO! Going to church, not forsaking the assembling together as Hebrews instructs us, is to help us grow in our faith. It is not a work, but an opportunity for Christians to grow and mature in our faith, as well as the opportunity to fellowship with other Believers.

During this Easter season, it is one of the two times a year that almost everyone who even professes to believe in God goes to church. Of course, the other is Christmas. I thought that this would give me an opportunity to address something that I deal with in the prayer requests I receive daily here at Liveprayer, and that is, how important it is to go to church. Not just on the special holidays, but to be actually part of a fellowship of believers all year long.

Let me make this point perfectly clear up front. Going to church and belonging to a body of believers IS NOT AN OPTION. Read today’s scripture from Hebrews. This is God telling you NOT to stop meeting together. Even in the early church this had become a problem. Never forget my friend, the church is NOT a man-made idea, it is a God-made idea. This is another way God has provided for His children to remain strong, and live productive, victorious lives. Trust me, over my years in ministry I have heard every rationale for not going to church that there is and the only one that is valid is when you are physically unable to attend. By the way, sleeping in does not count as physically unable to attend. Not going to church is living in rebellion to God’s will for your life.

The reason God has made this part of our life with Him is, to stay on track. So, there are several basic things that we MUST do. We MUST pray and we MUST read the Bible every day. We also MUST be part of a fellowship because it is in that fellowship we are spiritually fed and nurtured. It is in that fellowship we make friends with other believers. It is in that fellowship we usually find ways to serve the Lord. It is in that fellowship we grow spiritually!!!

Before you say it, let me. There is not, never has been, and never will be a perfect church because a church is made up of imperfect people from the pastor on down. That is a fact. For those of you looking for a church home, the best advice that I can give you is to pray, find a place where the Word of God is preached in an uncompromising way, and find a place that is not operating in contradiction to the Bible (example: A church that promotes an unscriptural lifestyle such as homosexuality or a church that does not accept the basic tenets of faith such as the virgin birth, who Jesus is, and the work on the cross). Find a place where you feel that you can grow spiritually as well as serve the Lord.

I have found that after preaching in over 500 churches of every denomination, that the key to a great church is the shepherd, the pastor. I have so much respect for those God has called to be pastors. I honestly prayed that God would never call me to pastor a church. It is one of the most difficult jobs in the Kingdom. However, it is important to find a true shepherd as described in John Chapter 10.

I am praying today that during this Easter season, you will come under great conviction about becoming part of a fellowship if you are not already. It is important to your life and relationship with the Lord. You will never grow spiritually without this being part of your life. It is impossible. It is also a reason that many are struggling in their life. I realize that some of you have been hurt in the past by a church. DO NOT let your past experiences get in the way. That is a ploy of satan who wants you out there all alone so that you are an easy target. There is safety in numbers.

As I normally do, I am going to let you pray about this. One thing that I realized early in my ministry is that I cannot force someone to do anything. God didn’t make us that way. He gave us the free will to make our own decisions. My job is to tell you what the Word says, what God wants from your life, and how you can become all that He has raised you up to be. Like in everything, there are basics. Without doing the basics, it just doesn’t work. Going to church and being part of a local fellowship are just two of the basics that is critical to your spiritual health. I am praying in earnest that this message is finding fertile ground in the hearts that need to hear these words today. Make it a part of your life not just on Christmas and Easter but part of each week.

I love you and care about you so much. I am praying for you and trusting God that those who are not a part of a church, will make that commitment today. Remember, it is not an option but something that God requires. If you need a church home, let me encourage you to become part of the LivePrayer Church. In just a few years, it has become the world’s online cathedral, with over 10,000 joining our service each week. Each week the service is posted at 12:01 EDT and is up all week so you can worship on whatever day, whatever time is convenient to you. Today We Celebrate the Death of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

(John 3:16)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, is it ok if a single lady adopts a child?

ANSWER: It is legal, but it is not the ideal situation to raise a child. God’s plan is for a man and woman who both have committed their lives to the Lord and to each other through marriage, to raise children in that loving, nurturing, Godly environment. Those who selflessly choose to adopt a child or children are special people.

Today is the day that we celebrate one of the greatest events in human history. We celebrate today the death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, God’s gift to the world. Today is truly a day of rejoicing. Because of this gift from God, we can be forgiven of our sins and reunited with our Creator for eternity. So much of what I deal with each day in this Devotional is to help you walk through this short journey here on earth victoriously and productively. But we must never forget that our time here is very short, and there is an eternity waiting for us when this journey is completed.

I want to focus for just a minute on this most special day, to that split second when our life on this earth is finished and we are launched into eternity. Do you have the assurance this very moment that when your life is complete, your eternity is going to be spent in Heaven?

If the answer to that question is anything but a resounding YES, then let me just share this simple truth with you. You see, our God, our Creator so loved this world, so loved His creation, that He sent His Son, His only Son to be part of this world. Jesus had one mission in this life. It wasn’t to be a great teacher, though He was a great teacher. It wasn’t to be a great prophet, though He was a great prophet. It wasn’t to be a great miracle worker, though He did work many great miracles. No my friend, Jesus came to this world to perform only one job…to die.

You see, the reason it was vital for Jesus to be immaculately conceived and born of a virgin was so that He was not infested with the same problem you and I are born into this life with, sin. Otherwise, the best He could have done was to die for His own sins. Jesus lived on this earth for some 33 years before it was time to complete His work. That work was finished on a cross on the hill called Calvary where He hung, and then died as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of this world. That is why, whosoever believes in Jesus, shall not perish, but have everlasting life!

Believing in Jesus is the only way to be saved because it was Jesus who died for our sins. There are no other ways to be saved, no other roads to God, there are no other plans of salvation!!! This is God’s one and only plan to reconcile his fallen creation back to Himself. This is the only way that you can escape eternity apart from the God who created you in His own image. It is through His grace and by your faith in Jesus Christ!

There are many incredible mysteries in the Bible. There are many doctrinal issues that will never be fully understood until we are in Heaven. But God made the most important decision of this life very easy and simple to understand. He gave every one the same opportunity to have their sins washed away and be assured of an eternity in Heaven. That is why we celebrate Good Friday today. That is why we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

The most important decision you will make in this life is not who you will marry, or where you will live, or what kind of job you will have. The most important decision you will make in this life is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. If you have not done that yet, the Bible says that TODAY is the day of salvation. I would invite you to go to, http://www.liveprayer.com/plan.cfm . Pray to ask God to open your heart, read the words, pray the prayer, and accept today God’s gift to you this Easter season, the gift of everlasting life through His son Jesus.

I love you and care about you deeply. For those of you who already know Christ as your Savior, I would encourage you to forward this email to someone that you know who is lost and without hope this Easter. What better present to give someone than the opportunity to know Jesus as their Savior and God’s free gift of everlasting life. I pray that you will take time today to focus on the gift that God has given to us in His Son Jesus. He gave His very best gift to us, which is why I will continue to encourage you each day to give your very best every day to Him.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

The Last Supper

(1 Corinthians 11:23-34)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, this is troubling to me. Please explain what is meant by, “the road to heaven is narrow and few will find the way.”

ANSWER: Sadly, despite the Gospel being available to all, most will choose to reject it. The biggest reason I see daily is because people don’t want to be held accountable. The “narrow road” doesn’t only pertain to Jesus being the ONLY way to be saved, but the Bible being the ONLY truth. Sadly, most choose to reject that Truth.

Communion. As we prepare to celebrate what is known as Maundy Thursday, the night of the last supper, I felt this was the perfect Devotional to share with you. Communion is that wonderful act of remembering the sacrifice Jesus made as He literally gave His life for the sins of all mankind. There has been much confusion and poor teaching about this wonderful time when a follower of Jesus Christ fulfills the command the Lord gave to His followers to remember Him by partaking of the bread and wine, re-enacting that moment He shared with His disciples in the Upper Room during the Last Supper.

When we’re dealing with anything, our final authority in all matters is the Bible. The primary scripture that deals with communion is found in Paul’s first letter to the Church of Corinth, in the 11th chapter. This passage refers back to the words of Jesus on the night of the Last Supper with His disciples. On that night, our Lord broke the bread and said, “This is my body which is broken for you. This do in remembrance of Me.” After dinner was over, Jesus took the cup and told His disciples, ” This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” You see, Jesus knew what was about to happen. Jesus knew that in just a few hours He would be going to the cross to shed His precious blood and give His life as the one-time, perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world.

What Jesus did that night was give all of those who would follow Him a way of remembering His finished work on the cross. This is Easter week. It’s that time of year Believers worldwide will reflect on the great sacrifice Christ made for us. We remember the Last Supper. We remember that time in the Garden of Gethsemane where he would be betrayed by Judas. We remember his trial before Pontius Pilate. We remember how our Lord was beaten, scourged, mocked, spat upon, and eventually nailed to the cross where He hung and died. The fact is, we need to remember Christ’s sacrifice for us more than just at Easter. That is the wonderful thing about communion. It allows us to take time and reflect, to remember the price Jesus paid for our salvation.

One of the controversies regarding communion is how often a Believer should participate in this act of remembrance. Jesus simply said to do it in remembrance of me, and even used the word “often.” The Bible doesn’t give us a specific time period, once a day, once a week, or once a month. It really becomes an issue each Believer needs to pray about and let the Holy Spirit guide you. Most churches have communion once a month. I know of some churches who observe communion every week. The Roman Catholic church celebrates communion at every mass. Again, there is no Biblical mandate how often to take communion. My personal belief is that every Believer should take communion at least once a month to never go too many days without remembering the price Christ paid for our salvation.

Another controversial issue surrounding communion is who is supposed to take communion. In most churches, everyone present is invited to take communion. That is WRONG! The Bible is very clear regarding who should and should not take communion. Communion is an act of remembrance for those who placed their faith in Jesus Christ. Communion is not something a nonbeliever should participate in. A nonbeliever has no relationship with Christ, so the observance of communion is a meaningless exercise to that person. The bread and wine that represent the body and blood of Christ have no special significance to a person who has not given their heart and life to the Lord.

I’ve had the honor of preaching many times over the years when communion was being served. I make it clear that communion is a time for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ to examine themselves, repent of their sins and ask God to forgive them of their sins before they partake of the bread and wine. One of the reasons I love communion is that it is the perfect opportunity to allow people who aren’t Believers in Christ to accept the Lord as their Savior by faith. There’s no better time to give people an invitation to know Jesus than at the time of communion. After making the decision to accept the Lord, they can then partake of the bread and wine and understand the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for them when He shed His blood and gave His life for their sins, so that they might be able to receive God’s gift of everlasting life.

Let me share this with you. You don’t have to be in church to take communion. I’ve taken communion dozen of times in my office. I get a cup with some grape juice to represent Christ’s blood. I’ll take some bread to represent His body. I sit down with my Bible and read some of those great passages in the Gospels about Christ’s crucifixion, and I take communion. Listen, you don’t need a pastor or priest to give you Communion. Communion is an act of remembrance for Believers in Jesus Christ. You don’t need a pastor or priest to stick a wafer or piece of bread in your mouth. You don’t need a pastor or priest to give you a cup of wine or grape juice. You can take communion at home, in your office, anywhere. It’s an act of remembrance each follower of Christ was asked by our Lord to do to remember Him!

It is a time for those followers of Jesus Christ to remember the price He paid for our salvation, why we are able to be the recipients of God’s gift of everlasting life. Yes, it’s a great experience when you are with a body of Believers in a church and you walk up and the pastor gives you the bread and the cup. Yes, it’s wonderful to be able to share that experience in a corporate setting with other Believers. But you can take communion anywhere, and you don’t need a pastor or priest since this is a time for personal reflection. It’s a time of remembrance. That is why you shouldn’t go more than 30 days without taking communion since it a reminder of what our faith is all about. Jesus Christ went to the cross, gave His body as a one-time sacrifice and shed His blood for the remission of sins. That is something every Believer should never forget and taking communion often is important.

I love you and care about you so much. Communion is an act of remembrance every Believer should do on a regular basis. It is an act only Believers are to participate in. Not children. Not the unsaved person you brought to church. Believers! Communion is an act of remembrance. How can a nonbeliever remember something he or she doesn’t believe in? Unfortunately most pastors absolutely miss this great opportunity to invite people to come to know Jesus before offering communion. There is no better opportunity in the world to invite someone to know Christ than at the time you are extending an invitation to communion. It gives you the perfect opportunity to explain WHY a person needs Jesus.

I pray today that you will not ever let more than 30 days pass without taking communion. I believe it is a very important part of our faith and spiritual journey. It is the foundation of what our faith is all about. I don’t care if you have been saved 10 minutes or 80 years, all followers of Christ need to reflect and remember what our Lord did for us. Even more important, Christ TOLD US to do this “oft” in remembrance of Him. For the Christian, communion is a very holy, somber, special time of reflection both on our life and the sacrifice our Lord made for us. May you be strengthened and challenged each time you partake of the bread and wine, remembering that Jesus gave His very life for us, so how can we do anything less for Him?

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Same Sex Marriage

(Genesis 1:27, 2:24, 4:19; Deuteronomy 17:17; 1 Kings 11:3; 1 Timothy 3:2,12)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, how do we know what God has called us to do, especially if our God given talents are creative and not social. I always have thought the best talent God can give a person is the ability to speak and communicate with other people.

ANSWER: Everyone has been given different gifts and talents. We usually know what our gifts are because they are things we do well and enjoy. Often, over our life we may use many different gifts and talents. Just as we give of our treasure, equally important is giving the Lord those gifts and talents He has blessed us with to serve Him and for His glory!

Many years ago, people thought I was joking when I said once the nation decides to allow same sex marriage, they would then have to legalize someone who wanted to marry 3, 4, 5 women or men! After all, once you pervert God’s definition of marriage, who can say you can’t love 3 women, or 3 men? According to the logic of those who CHOOSE to engage in sex with someone of the same sex, how dare anyone say who a person can love? If I am in love with a duck, who out there can deny me the ability to marry my duck??? According to the “marriage equality” crowd, it is my CIVIL RIGHT!

Because many states have now perverted God’s definition of marriage, trust me, pedophilia and polygamy will be next. Go ahead and laugh like so many did 10 years ago when I told you men would soon legally marry men, women would soon legally marry women! But that is good news for those in the satanic cult of Beck and Romney. They had to give up polygamy in order for Utah to be recognized as a state, though polygamy is still practiced by many true Mormon cult members despite it being illegal. Their cult also teaches a man who become “god” after death will have multiple wives. Soon, they will be able to legally practice what their cult has taught since its’ inception.

This will also be good news for the nation’s pedophiles! After all, there are many countries around the world where an adult can legally marry a child. With the growth and power of Islam through terror advocacy groups like CAIR, marrying children will soon be an issue since that is not only their custom, but their pracitce in most Middle Eastern countries. Why not here? Who is anyone to say who a person can love and marry. Again, it is a CIVIL RIGHT according to those who try to pervert God’s Holy Institution of Marriage.

For the record, perverting God’s definition of marriage is not a CIVIL RIGHT! A person has no control over being born male or female, black or white. TAKING YOUR PANTS OF TO HAVE SEX IS A CHOICE! Just like drinking, doing drugs, gambling are choices, so is engaging in perverted, unnatural, unhealthy sex! Like other harmful choices, if a person does it long enough it becomes a bondage…which is exactly what homosexuality is!

The Bible is perfectly clear about God’s Holy Institution of Marriage. It is one man, with one woman, for one lifetime. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Eve and Julie. Or Adam and Eve, Julie, Cathy, and Susan. God’s plan for marriage was one man and one woman. In Genesis 2:24, God’s intention is clearly presented when He says, “They shall be one flesh.” In giving the qualifications for a king in Deuteronomy Chapter 17, Verse 17, God clearly states that the king was not to have multiple wives. In giving the qualifications for those who lead the church in 1 Timothy 3:2 and 12 and in Titus 1:6, the Bible states that these men are to have only one wife. This passage in the Greek is not only speaking of someone who has not been divorced, but makes it clear that having multiple wives disqualified someone to be in a leadership position.

You actually don’t have to get very far into human history to see God’s plan for marriage perverted. The first Biblical account of men taking multiple wives is recorded in Genesis 4:19 where a man names Lamech took two wives. Having multiple wives throughout history has always been a mark of nations, people groups, who lived their lives in rebellion to the God of the Bible.Sadly, some have tried to justify polygamy by pointing to men of God in the Bible like Abraham and others who had multiple wives. They are 100% wrong and there is NO WAY to justify polygamy by using the Bible.

Let me make sure you understand something perfectly clear. God never permitted at any time for men to have multiple wives. When we read about Abraham and others taking multiple wives, we also read about the consequences of this sin in their life. Don’t forget what I tell you often. Our obedience to God and His Word brings blessings, our rebellion to God and His Word brings consequences! There will ALWAYS be consequences when you choose to live in rebellion to God. Even great men of God like Abraham, like Solomon, were not immune to the consequences when they chose to sin against God.

One of the things I love about God’s Word is that it does not try to hide the failings of men who did great things for God in their lives. Look at David. His sin with Bathsheba could have been omitted, but God allowed his sin to be exposed to all of the generations through His Word. The consequences of Abraham’s sin in taking another wife are still being felt in the world today since the Jewish people are directly linked back to his son with Sarah, Isaac, and the Arab people directly linked back to his son with Hagar, Ishmael. When you read about Abraham having to send Hagar and her son away due to the conflict with Sara and Isaac, I am not sure we can begin to fully comprehend the human emotions of such a tragic event.

Then you have Solomon. As I shared with you the other day in speaking of Solomon and his summation of what this life is about in Ecclesiastes 12:13, I have carefully studied his life. Solomon is a very complex individual and a classic study of someone who gets so caught up in the success and allure of this world they forsake God. Solomon followed God since his youth, became the King of Israel, finished building the Temple of God in Jerusalem started by his father David. He is probably best known for his incredible wisdom. As you read about the life of Solomon you can see the hand and blessings of God upon him.

Despite having God’s favor and blessings, Solomon allowed the temporal things of this world to take priority over his commitment to God. Being allowed by God to gain victory over the enemies of Israel, Solomon took part in a custom of that day where the conquering king, Solomon, was given the daughter of the defeated king to be his wife. So Solomon not only began taking multiple wives (against God’s admonition in Deuteronomy 17:17), these were women from heathen nations that did not know or honor the God of Israel and brought their false gods with them into the marriage. Over time, Solomon ended up with 700 wives and 300 concubines. (Personal observation: It is clear that by this time in his life, Solomon used up all of his wisdom, since having one wife is a full time commitment. 700? The thought makes my head hurt.)

One reason God says in His Word in 2 Corinthians 6:14 “do not be yoked together with unbelievers” is because of the negative influence your unbelieving spouse will have on your faith. Solomon was a great example of a man who knew, followed, and served God, but became influenced by the false gods and idols of his foreign wives. This is exactly why God told the children of Israel to not take “strange wives,” or wives from nations that worshiped false gods. At a time in his life when Solomon should have been enjoying the blessings of God, instead he was dealing with the consequences of his rebellion to God from having multiple and foreign wives. His life actually ends with little fanfare and rather sadly due to his sin. SIN ALWAYS COSTS, AND ALWAYS COSTS MORE THAN WE EXPECT TO PAY!

I love you and care about you so much. Not only is pedophilia and polygamy against the law in the United States, it has never been a practice of most cultures. However, there are those who advocate having multiple wives, sex with children, and there are other nations around the world in which these are an acceptable practice. Once gay marriage becomes the law of the land, look for these further perversions to be next. Just like 10 years ago people said I was crazy, over the next decade, people will sadly see the price of compromising God’s Truth!

I will be praying for you today. I want to specifically pray for those who are married today. Marriage is God’s Holy Institution. It is a wonderful gift from God and his plan for most people’s lives. It is one of the most difficult things in the world for two people to become one. But with the Lord at the center of your lives together, it can be the most incredible and special thing in your life other than your relationship with Christ. For those who are going through a problem in your marriage today, I will be praying for God to bring healing and restoration to you remarriage. For those who are not having problems, I will pray that you continue to be richly blessed in your marriage each day.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Revolutionize Your Prayer Life

(1 Chronicles 16:11; Matthew 7:7; Mark 11:24)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, how do we know what God has called us to do, especially if our God given talents are creative and not social. I alwas have thought the best talent God can give a person is the ability to speak and communicate with other people.

Today, I want to help you with a simple but powerful truth that could revolutionize your prayer life. So much of the time we treat our prayer life like we are rubbing a magical lamp and asking the genie inside for our wishes to be granted. Even mature Believers often fall into the trap of treating God like some kind of cosmic concierge who is there at our beck and call to fulfill our every whim and desire. The truth that I want to share with you today is that prayer requires action on our part.

When we pray, we are demonstrating our dependence upon God. We are saying to God that “we need you,” that “without you we can do nothing.” Prayer is also an act of faith. What is the use in praying unless you have faith there is a God who hears you and faith there is a God who can help you? So when we pray we not only demonstrate our dependence upon God, but also our faith in God.

The key moment comes AFTER we have prayed. What do we do then? This is the critical point where many Believers fail. Prayer requires action on our part. Too many who pray, fail to follow up their prayers with ACTION! They pray and seek God for a need in their life, finish praying, and then sit back waiting for God to meet their need. Is God able? Of course, He is God! However, never forget that we pray out of faith, and true Biblical faith requires ACTION!

If you are praying for God to heal your body, pray, but then ACT! Go see the doctors and specialists that are out there to help you heal. Go research what your health issue is and find the best people possible to help bring complete and total healing to your body. God heals in many ways and by far the most common way God heals is through human instruments called doctors. So if you need healing, pray, ask God to heal you, and then put your faith into action and do all you can in seeing your body healed.

If you are praying for God to meet your financial needs, pray, but then ACT! Seek out successful men and women and get their wise counsel. Sit down and put a game plan together to help you meet your financial needs and achieve your financial goals. God can provide for us in many ways, but His most common form of provision is through our hard work. So if you have financial needs, pray, ask God to provide for you, then put your faith into action and do all you can to see that your financial needs are met.

If you are praying for your marriage or for a relationship, pray, but then ACT! Seek out Godly counsel from your pastor or some other qualified Christian counselor. Get away with your spouse or the person you are in a relationship with and spend quality time openly and honestly communicating with each other. The root cause of every marital and relationship problem I have seen in over 20 years of ministry stems from a lack of pure, honest, and open communication. So if you have a problem with your marriage or a relationship, pray, ask God to bring healing and restoration to your marriage or relationship, then put your faith into action and do all you can to have a healthy marriage or relationship.

Never forget that it is God who is the One who will heal you, provide for you, restore your marriage or relationship, but God uses our faith in action. Prayer is not a passive exercise but an active one! We are active participants in God answering our prayers. It requires action on our part. It is God who is answering our prayers, but our faith requires us to be involved in that process. Just as James wrote to Believers that “faith without works is dead,” I tell you today that PRAYER WITHOUT ACTION IS POWERLESS!!!

I love you and care about you so much. Most people are far too passive in their prayer life. They pray and then sit back waiting for God to answer. No doubt there are some things we pray about that are completely out of our control and we must simply trust God to move on those needs. But much of what we pray about we have the ability to put action to our prayers. It is still God who is answering our prayers, but He is working through our actions.

It needs to be stressed again, we are not just praying out of dependence upon God, but out of FAITH in God. True Biblical faith requires ACTION on our part. If you really believe something, you will live it. If we truly believe God will heal us, or provide for our needs, or heal our marriage or relationship, or whatever the need may be, we will be active participants in seeing our prayers answered. God honors our faith. God is moved by our faith. God blesses our faith. We pray in faith, therefore our prayers require action!!!

Should A Christian Celebrate Easter

(Mathew 28:1-8)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, I am a Christian for over 50 years, and a few years ago I has been asking the Lord God so I could feel His presence in my life, but yet never had it. Other believers know God’s presence in their lives. Why for me?

ANSWER: Our relationship with the Lord is NOT about feelings, but about FAITH. If you have accepted the Lord as your Savior, you HAVE His presence whether you can “feel” it or not. Below is a great Devotional on this very issue: http://www.liveprayer.com/ddarchive3.cfm?id=2649

Every year at this time, I get inundated with emails that read like doctrinal dissertations on why a Christian should NOT celebrate Easter. They mostly come from cults, but also from some Christian groups, primarily Messianic congregations that in recent years have been hijacked by Gentiles and preach and teach a very legalistic doctrine focused solely on the Old Testament. For the record, Passover is a Jewish Feast and NOT a Christian celebration. Jesus became the “perfect one-time sacrifice” for the sins of mankind.

These groups make arguments about the pagan roots of Easter, the evils of Easter eggs, the satanic nature of the Easter bunny, and many other reasons why a Christian should not celebrate Easter. To those people I have only one thing to say, “You have sadly missed the point of this special time of year!!!”

Listen, everyone knows that the word Easter is not in the Bible (actually Easter is in the KJV, but is an incorrect translation of the Greek word that should say Passover) and originates from the pagan goddess Eostre. Do we stop using the names for the days of the week and months of the year because they also have pagan roots?

I have yet to meet anyone who worshiped an Easter egg, only ate them. If you are old enough to be able to read this, you are old enough to know that there is no Easter Bunny. These are simply symbols that the world uses in regard to this holiday. There is only ONE REASON a Christian celebrates Easter, and that is to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

One easy solution to those offended by the word “Easter” is to simply call Easter Sunday, Resurrection Day!

Christians SHOULD celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus! It is right and good that we take time each year to remember this blessed event. It is a well-documented, historical event chronicled in all four Gospels and supported by the historians of that day. It is easily the GREATEST EVENT IN HUMAN HISTORY! Think about it. God Himself, the Creator of the heavens and earth, came to this earth as a mere man to live with His creation.

He came as a baby, born of a virgin in a humble manger in an obscure little town. He would grow up to die on a cross as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. Three days after His death, God would raise Him from the dead as a sign to this lost and unbelieving world that He was exactly who He claimed to be-the SON OF GOD!!! His life would literally transform the lives of every man, woman, and child for the rest of human history. THAT is why we celebrate Easter. THAT is why, as Christians, we MUST celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord.

I love you and care about you so much. I realize that most people who say not to celebrate Easter mean well and are trying to live their lives in a way pleasing and acceptable to God. But they have missed the point of Easter. Easter is about only one thing, celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus.

It is one of those times of the year that we gather with family and friends and share our faith in Christ. Easter is also VERY BIBLICAL. All four Gospels gives us the account of the very first Easter. Now, some 2,000 years later, we will set aside time this Sunday to celebrate the day that God raised our Lord from the dead.

I pray today that you will never forget what Easter is really about and why we celebrate this day. Of course, anything that the world gets involved with becomes perverted. The world has taken this sacred time of the year and turned it into a time of commerce. We must never allow ourselves to get so caught up in the commercialism of the Easter season, to forget what it is about . . . a time to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. THAT is what Easter is really about, and THAT is why, as Christians, we MUST celebrate the greatest event in human history!
