Seventeen Years of Liveprayer!!!

(John 3:16,17, 14:6, 15:5)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, thank you for another day of life! Even though this is a special day in the life of your ministry here at Liveprayer, let us never to forget that EVERY DAY is a special day since it is a gift from you! Please let me never take one day, one hour, one minute of this precious life for granted and may I always honor you with my life! In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

Seventeen years of Liveprayer! It is easy to get discouraged looking at the world around us today despite the wonderful milestone that 17 years ago at Noon on 8/31/1999, Liveprayer signed on. Over the years Liveprayer has become the most effective interactive online ministry ever. God has used His work here to impact tens of millions of live worldwide while seeing over 1,000,000 souls we know of come to faith in Jesus Christ. To God be the glory, and it will be the eternal legacy of myself and each member of the Liveprayer family!!!

As I type these words, I think back to the numerous times over 17 years I have exhorted people that our ONLY hope is to turn this nation back to God and His Truth. Liveprayer is the instrument that God has been using to impact individual lives, and as we continue to do that our final work for the Lord is to lead the way for a spiritual revival across this land. Unless that happens, unless we have a Nineveh moment where the masses get on their knees and repent of their sins, turn back to God and His Truth, this nation is finished.

Only the arrogant and prideful will believe that the same God who judged his own children for FAR LESS sin, won’t unleash His wrath and judgment on this nation!!!

Over the last 17 years, Liveprayer has become by far the world’s largest interactive Christian website. We’ve sent out just over 6,100 Daily Devotionals daily over these past 17 years that began going out to a handful of people and are now are received by over 2.5 million people worldwide every single day. We have received and responded to over 155 million email prayer requests. We have accumulated a Praise Report archive with over 12 million testimonies of God’s faithfulness.

We’ve broadcasted the uncompromised Truth of God’s Word and the fact Jesus is the ONLY way on over 2,000 “live” TV programs on major secular TV stations, seen by millions of people in Florida, Illinois and around the nation since it debuted in March of 2003. To view the program “LIVE” every Monday-Friday from Midnight-2am EDT on your TV if we air in your market, or digitally on a computer, SmartPhone, or tablet, please go to: http://www.liveprayer.com/liveprayertv.cfm To watch previous programs On Demand, please go to: http://www.youtube.com/user/LivePrayerTelevision

Of course, ALL honor, glory, and praise goes to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Jesus said, “Without me you can do NOTHING!” That powerful reminder from John 15:5 is on the mirror in my bathroom and the first thing I see every morning. I have been most blessed of men to be given the honor and privilege to serve our Lord in such a meaningful way each and every day. It was 26 years ago this month that I sat in a Federal Prison cell and rededicated my life back to Christ and finally gave the Lord the one and only thing He ever wanted from me, and the one and only thing He ever wants from you…my life completely, fully, and wholly surrendered to Him!

Whatever has happened at Liveprayer these past 17 years is NOT because of Bill Keller, it is because of Jesus Christ. Bill Keller is simply a vessel God has chosen to use at this moment in human history in the fulfillment of His overall plan and purpose. All I did was give my life completely to the Lord and surrender myself to whatever His will for me is each day. I spent nearly 7 years PRIOR to the start of Liveprayer doing my best to serve and follow God faithfully. Whatever Liveprayer has become after these 17 years, is the result of serving and following Christ obediently and faithfully for over 24 years.

It was God who has called me to do what I do today and I am simply doing my best to follow His voice as I walk by faith each day!!!

It is because of what we have done these past 17 years that I have the incredible passion for what we can do in the years to come should Jesus tarry. What drives me each day is the fact that I know Jesus may return at any moment, that tomorrow is promised to none of us and I need to be faithful each day to the work God has called me to do, and that every second of every day someone is dying and going to hell that could be in Heaven if we had been able to reach them with the hope of Christ. Thru the internet and secular television, we have the ability to reach the lost and hurting masses and not only help them find real answers in their hour of need, but the eternal hope we have in Jesus Christ.

Seeing the lost won for Christ is what I have given my life to do. With every waking moment, every breath until God calls me home, my only objective and goal is to reach the lost with the Gospel. That passion, that drive, that determination has not waned over these past 204 months, it has intensified. I refuse to let the personal abuse I take each day stop me. I refuse to let the continual threats on my life stop me. I refuse to let the daily challenges of living in this fallen world stop me. I refuse to let finances stop me. I refuse to let anything keep me from giving the Lord everything I have every day. I know that I fall short every day, fail the Lord every day, but I am thankful He knows my heart. Jesus gave His very life for me, how can I give Him anything less?

I LOVE YOU AND CARE ABOUT YOU SO MUCH! I really mean that each day! The greatest joy of all these past 17 years is this new family God has blessed me with. Every day I cry with those in the Liveprayer family who lose those they love, and I rejoice with those in the Liveprayer family as they bring new life into this world. I remember today the many dear and faithful friends who have been part of Liveprayer over the years, many who helped lay the foundation for God’s work here who have gone on to their rewards in Glory. I also am excited by all the new additions to the Liveprayer family as they grow up to become the men and women of God He has called them to be.

It has been a privilege to stand with so many young adults as they have gone thru high school, college, started their first job, and gotten married, had children. I’ve been honored to stand with those in the Liveprayer family who have lost their job, gotten new ones, faced health issues, struggled with their finances, gone through a divorce, had legal issues, bought and sold homes, moved, dealt with children and grandchildren living apart from the Lord, those how have battled with different addictions, and all the rest of the daily challenges we face along our journey through this life. I’m grateful to be here each day to help bear your burdens.

*”It’s an honor to speak to people about God, it’s an even greater honor to speak to God for people!!!” -EM Bounds

All I can say in closing is THANK YOU! Thank you for your love. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for your financial support of God’s work her at Liveprayer. I tell you often that without you there would be no Liveprayer. That is true. YOU make this all possible each day for millions of lost and hurting people worldwide.

Your love and prayers and gifts have made an eternal impact in the lives of tens of millions of people around this planet. Please continue to pray for me and for all those who labor here so faithfully each day to make this all possible. For those who God leads and have the ability, please continue to prayerfully give as the Holy Spirit leads you as we meet our financial needs.

I’m looking forward to the day my work here is complete and I am able to go to Heaven and hopefully catch up on some sleep. I know that at some point, there will be a great reunion of all those people who were part of the Liveprayer family. It is such an honor and great joy of mine each day to be able to actually meet those who are part of Liveprayer. Sadly, I know that I will never get that opportunity to shake hands and give a hug to the vast majority of those in the Liveprayer family during this life. So I look forward to that day in Glory when we will all be together.

In the meantime, God still has much for us to do. While it would be easy and tempting to sit back and be content with what we have accomplished these past 17 years, we can’t because there is still too much work left to do. The Liveprayer Church, the world’s online cathedral. The Jonah Project God’s instrument to help lead this nation back to God and Biblical values. The “remnant” is about to rise up and be heard like never before!

So now is time to keep pressing on towards that prize, being obedient and faithful each day to serve and follow the Lord, and declare to this lost world the Truth of God’s Word and tell the lost of the eternal hope they can have in Jesus Christ. May God continue to pour out His favor and blessings on Liveprayer as we remain faithful each day to our calling of leading this nation back to God and HIS Truth during what God showed me last November would be “year of victory!”

Let me leave you with our verse for the year from 1 Corinthians 15:57, “”But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!”

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Can You Trust What God is Telling You When Everything is on the Line?

(Joshua 6:1-20)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Oh Lord, I am so thankful for this day. I give you all glory and honor for the blessings you have bestowed on my life. So often I take your blessings for granted. Let me remember each day to take time to thank you for your grace and mercy in my life. May I show my gratitude in living my life for you and allowing your love to shine through me to everyone I meet. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

I have always loved the Biblical account of how Joshua and the children of Israel destroyed the city of Jericho. I love reading this passage of Scripture because it is the personification of the walk of faith we have been called to make during our journey through this life. The city of Jericho was taken because the man God raised up to lead His people, Joshua, was in an intimate relationship with Him so he was able to HEAR God talking to him, he had the faith to BELIEVE what God said to him, and he had the courage to ACT on exactly what God told him to do.

If you will simply read and meditate on the first 20 verses in Joshua Chapter 6, you will know everything you need to know about being a mighty man or woman of faith. These 20 verses give us the blueprint to how we can do great things for God today. You might say, but I’m not Joshua, I’m nobody special. Listen, what made Joshua special was the fact he loved God. He honored God with his life. He had a close, intimate relationship with God. He believed God. He had the faith to act on his belief in God.

That is what made Joshua and many of the men and women you read about in the Bible special. They were born just like you and I, they died just like you and I will, they were flesh and blood with human weaknesses just like you and I. What made them special was their relationship with God. What makes you special is your relationship with Jesus!!!

Let’s look at how the city of Jericho was taken by the children of Israel. Joshua was the leader of God’s people. Never forget that he was a mighty man of war. His business was war. He was God’s man to drive out the heathen from the Promised Land. The city of Jericho was going to be a big problem since the key feature to the city was its high, impenetrable walls. The children of Israel had a real dilemma since there was no way to take the city unless they could come up with a plan to take down those walls.

I have no doubt that Joshua gathered the best demolition experts from the children of Israel and sought their expertise on how to take down the massive walls of Jericho. As a military man, I am sure he gathered his top military advisors and discussed all the various plans on how they could get the walls down and take the city. I can envision in Joshua’s war room, he had put together several plans for the destruction of Jericho.

It was about this time that God spoke to Joshua. I hear people all the time say, “How do you know it was God,” or, “Why would God speak to you?” or, “God doesn’t speak to men any longer.” First, you know it is God because you learn how to recognize His voice. That doesn’t happen overnight, but over time. We have a huge advantage over men like Joshua since we have His Word and God will never tell us something in contradiction to His Word. The more you listen to God, the better you become at hearing His voice.

Second, why would God speak to you? The fact is God speaks to ALL of His children. The issue isn’t whether God speaks to us, the issue is do we pay attention when He does. When you come to know Christ as your Savior by faith, you enter into this close, intimate, personal relationship with Him. Like in any relationship, you talk to Him and He talks to you. People who are in a relationship talk to each other. So of course God speaks to you if you are in a relationship with Him.

Third, where in God’s Word does it say He no longer speaks to men? That is sheer foolishness to believe such a lie. Again, God has been speaking to His children since Adam. There is NOTHING in God’s Word to remotely suggest that the same God who spoke to Abraham, to Joshua, and to Paul, doesn’t still speak to His children today. NOTHING! Again, if you aren’t hearing God speaking to you, you simply aren’t listening! Because Joshua was in this intimate, close, personal relationship with the God of Abraham, he was able to HEAR God speaking to him.

God is a God of specifics. When God began to speak to Joshua about the plan to take down the walls of Jericho, He gave Joshua very detailed and specific instructions exactly what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. This reminds me of when God spoke to Noah about building the ark. He didn’t just tell Noah to go and build a boat, he gave Noah the detailed plans to the inch of exactly how that ark was to be built. God is a God of details and specifics.

We are now at a very critical part of these events. No doubt Joshua had already been preparing his own plans after consulting with the best minds he could find on exactly how to take down he walls of Jericho and destroy that city. About this time, God, who Joshua has a wonderful relationship with, speaks to him and tells him in great specificity how to take down the walls of Jericho and destroy the city.

I am certain that after hearing God’s plan of marching around the walls for 6 days, on the 7th day march around them 7 times while blowing trumpets, and then have everyone give a loud shout which will cause the walls to come down, this war general and military strategist was on the floor laughing. God’s plan made no earthly sense at all.

My friend, you will find that God’s plan often doesn’t make sense to us. First of all, God knows things we don’t. In case you haven’t learned this yet, God is smarter than we are. God’s plan will often be something that in the end, when it works, people will have to sit back and say, “Only God could have done this!” This way it is God, not man, who gets the glory and it becomes a testimony of His power and majesty to this lost world we live in. This critical point was whether Joshua would go with his plan or God’s. Ultimately, he had to decide whether he had the faith to BELIEVE what God told him.

That takes us to the final step, which is where the rubber meets the road when it comes to our faith, acting on what God has told us to do. I have said to you often that if you believe it, you will do it! James, in talking to Believers tells us that faith without works is dead. True Biblical faith REQUIRES ACTION! Saying you have faith but never acting on that faith is not really faith. Joshua heard from God, he believed what God told him, which left him no choice but to ACT on exactly what God told him to do!!!

I love you and care about you so much. In case you can’t feel it, I am fried up today! This is the meat of the word that motivates me, challenges me, and drives me each day to be all God has called me to be. I have spent literally tens of thousands of hours fellowshipping with God to be able to hear his voice clearly. Over these many years of following and serving the Lord, I am now at a place where I have seen His mighty hand in my life and millions of lives every day that when God says it I believe it. Because I have learned how to hear His voice and believe what He says, I have no problem stepping out and acting on what He tells me to do.

I never even owned a computer or sent or received an email until Liveprayer started in 1999. But I heard from God, I believed Him, and I acted on that belief. Even though I had done considerable work on Christian television, I had no idea what to expect when I went on major secular network TV stations and began telling a non-Christian audience each night what the Bible says and that Jesus is their only hope. But I heard from God that this is what He called me to do, I believed Him, and I acted on that belief. My friend, this is what walking by faith is all about!!!

I will be praying for you today. God is calling YOU to walk by faith just like Joshua did. The first key is to HEAR from God. Next, you must BELIEVE God. Lastly, you must ACT on what God is telling you to do. It is time for you to take your stand for the Lord just like Joshua and all the faithful men and women of God have over these past 6,000 years of human history. God loves you and wants to use your life. Your greatest blessings flow from obeying Him. I will be praying for you today to hear God speaking to you, praying for you to have the faith to believe God, and praying for you to act on what God is calling you to do!!!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

(1 Corinthians 15:57)

Blessings my friend!

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, give me your strength to stand for your Truth no matter what the cost. It is easy to call myself a follower of Jesus, but when confronted, when challenged, when faced with persecution, will I still say I am a follower of Jesus? I love you Lord and ask for your strength so no matter what I have to endure for my faith, I will stand firm. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

As we approach the 17 yr anniversary of Liveprayer, sadly we are at a place we have never been before. That is not being able to cover whatever amount we carried over into the current month, meaning that balance…PLUS…the full operational budget for the current month are required.

I have walked this walk of faith, and so many of you have walked it with me these many years. In the end it is HIS work. While what we have accomplished over these 17 yrs is incredible, tens of millions of lives worldwide impacted, God’s Truth boldly taken into the marketplace, over 100 million emails for prayer prayed over and responded to, an archive of over 10 million praise reports, and most important…over 1 million souls we know of around this world who have come to faith in Jesus!!!

The reality is, because the Lord has had me operate HIS work here frugally and prudently from day one, we have no buildings to pay for and maintain, no huge staff that has to be paid weekly, no private jets, mansions, Bentley’s to buy and maintain, simply the work of a modern day prophet using the technology of the day to share HIS Truth, hope, and Gospel.

Subsequently, while to some I know it is a huge amount, in reality, we are simply requiring less than $100,000 to get back on track financially as we head into the last 4 months of this critical year in regard to the soul of this nation. I am only asking that you pray, you ask the Lord what He may be asking YOU to do at this time, and like so many over these past 17 years, be obedient if HE is speaking to YOU about being used at this critical time!!!

***AUGUST FINANCIAL UPDATE: Thank you for those who have stepped up to help me during this difficult time as we press ahead by sheer faith in His strength and grace!!!! As you know, due to needing the entire month of July to clear up our June shortfall, we went into August needing to cover our entire July TV and internet budget of $65,000, along with our August budget.

Currently $38,000 of our July shortfall has come in, leaving us needing to cover the $27,000 balance plus the $65,000 we require for our August internet and TV operations. That is $92,000 required by the end of the month! OUR GOD IS ABLE!!

My friend, I am doing all I can to keep Liveprayer alive, but we are hanging on by sheer faith. I desperately need several of our friends to help me today. We are at a very critical place today and after 17 yrs and all of the ministry we have provided to 10s of millions worldwide faithfully 24/7, I refuse to accept that God is done with His work here over just $92,000!!!

*******I desperately need ONE of our friends God has blessed who prays and seeks the Lord’s guidance and in honor of a spouse, parent, child, or other loved one, who can get $62,000 of the $92,000 we require into our account Monday!!!

It is CRITICAL that I have $62,000 in our account Monday in order to take care of critical expenses by the end business today! ONE who God has blessed can step up as many in the past years have done to help me at this time!!! I am literally at the mercy of those who supply the services we require for our daily ministry, begging then daily to hold on, but once they start to cancel those services we are not going to be able operate.

PRAY AND ASK THE LORD IF IT IS YOU HE IS TALKING TO ABOUT THIS!!! I HAVE BEEN IN PRAYER FOR 2 MONTHS FOR ONE PERSON TO HELP ME GET OUR FINANCIAL CHALLENGES CAUGHT UP AND CURRENT SO WE CAN PROCEED WITHOUT THIS BURDEN UPON US EACH DAY!!!

If you are able to the extra mile and wire the funds to our Wells Fargo account or drop by a branch in your area and deposit them into our account TODAY, it would help me a great deal. Of course you can overnight a check today to our office or put the gift on your credit card or PayPal. Feel free to email me for any information you may need to help me at: bkeller@liveprayer.com

Over the years, God has raised up many different friends of His work here who at critical times made a special sacrifice of $20,000, $50,000, in one case $80,000, and several times $100,000. I am standing in faith that as everyone prays and those who are able give according to your ability to give, we can bring in the $27,000 balance from July as well as the $65,000 required for our operations in August.

OBVIOUSLY WHATEVER YOU CAN GIVE AT THIS TIME IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AND DESPITE THE AMOUNT NO GIFT IS GREATER IN THE EYES OF GOD THAN ANOTHER, SINCE IT IS OUR OBEDIENCE GOD SEES, JUST LIKE THE OBEDIENCE OF THE WOMAN AT THE WELL!

***TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!! LIVEPRAYER BY HIS GRACE, MERCY, AND YOUR LOVE, PRAYERS, AND GENEROUS SACRIFICES, CELEBRATES 17 YRS OF FAITHFUL MINISTRY THIS MONTH!!! Please pray about sending a special anniversary gift off $17, $170, $1700, $17,000 as we rejoice in all the Lord has done thru His work here at Liveprayer!!!

TO GIVE A GIFT TO LIVEPRAYER, you can use your major credit card on our secure server at: http://www.liveprayer.com under the “Donation” link, you can give using your PayPal account using my email address: bkeller@liveprayer.com , or you can mail your gift to: Liveprayer, 6660 46th Ave. North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. All gifts to Liveprayer are 100% tax deductible. *

I love and care about you so much! Thank you for taking the time to pray and feel my words today. As I do daily, I never hold back as I share with you God’s Truth on the issues of the day as well as my personal thoughts and feelings. Even though I speak daily to a mass worldwide audience online and over a hundred thousand people 5 nights a week on the TV program, I try to speak to the heart of each person I am able to reach.

Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. I pray daily for God’s protection, for His provision, and for His blessings to be upon you as together we press forward towards the prize, bringing hope to the hurting, salvation through faith in Christ to the lost, and use this platform the Lord has built to lead our nation back to the Almighty and His Truth!!!

In His love and service,

When the Burdens of Life Become Overwhelming

(Galatians 6:2)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Please Lord, give me the strength that when tested, I will not be silent nor will I be afraid to tell YOUR TRUTH! Give me courage, give me strength, and let me stand strong for you no matter what the personal consequences! In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

Everyone who lives has those times when the burdens of this life can become overwhelming. Whatever the reasons, however it happened, you wake up feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. The joy, the peace, the pleasures of this life seem so far away. We have all been through those valleys, so we know how difficult it can be. I often talk to you about being in the will of God. That can be difficult at times, determining exactly what God’s will is for our life, but there are some basics God expects us to do that the Bible clearly tells us are His will for our life.

One of those is to bear the burdens of others. I want to really challenge you today, to put aside your cares and help someone you know who is struggling to carry their load today. I realize that you may be dealing with some difficult issues yourself, but there is someone God has placed in your life, a family member, neighbor, schoolmate, coworker, a friend . . . someone who is really hurting and struggling under the weight of their problems today. God is telling you to go help that person carry their burden today.

As we know, many people are reluctant to open up about the very intimate problems of life. That can make it difficult for someone trying to help. But even if they don’t totally open up, just your interest, your compassion, your desire to help can make all the difference in the world. The Bible teaches that we really are our brother’s keeper. Reaching out with the love of Christ to someone who is hurting is the ultimate ministry anyone can perform in this life.

If you read the accounts of the earthly ministry of Jesus in the Gospels, you will see much of His ministry was one on one with hurting people. That is the example He has left us. I am challenging you today to find that someone in your life, hurting, falling under the weight of their problems, and pick them up. Pick them up and carry them for a while. It is what Jesus would do, it is what God is asking you to do.

I love and care about you deeply and want to see you enjoy all of the blessings God has for your life. Helping others in their hour of need is one of the greatest ways God can use your life, and you will be blessed beyond your imagination for your faithfulness. I really do love you and want to see you enjoy all the best this life can offer. Serving others is something you don’t need a seminary degree for, you don’t need any special training for, and you don’t need to be appointed to do. Serving others is what God expects from all His children, and He has given you a new heart of love to make it possible to share that love with others.

You see, without the Lord, we have a difficult time loving others. But when we realize how much God loved us and sacrificed for us, it becomes easy for us to then love others. Just let the love God has put in your heart flow into the lives of those around you. It is the greatest testimony you have.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if there is any way I can help you. You are special to me, and I will try my best to help you walk through the problems you are facing and be victorious. God loves you, and my only desire is to see you become the best you can be for Him. You can do that today by finding a brother or sister in need and helping them carry their burden. That is God’s will for you.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Football and Gambling

(Psalm 118:8)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, give me your strength to stand for your Truth no matter what the cost. It is easy to call myself a follower of Jesus, but when confronted, when challenged, when faced with persecution, will I still say I am a follower of Jesus? I love you Lord and ask for your strength so no matter what I have to endure for my faith, I will stand firm. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

Football and gambling. The new college and pro-football seasons will soon be underway this coming weeks. All across this nation, it is football season. It is a time for fans of the game to root their favorite team on to victory (go Ohio State Buckeyes!). Sadly however, it is also a time for millions of people to gamble on this great sport. From now until the Super Bowl next February, BILLIONS will be wagered legally and illegally on pro and college-football games. Over the next 5 months, lives will be destroyed by people who are in bondage to gambling on football games.

Over the past decade, by far the fastest growing form of sports gambling, especially on professional football, has been “fantasy football.” The latest are the websites who offer daily action. In fantasy football, a predetermined group of people get together, make up fantasy teams from the existing pool of players, and are rewarded when the players they select have productive statistics in the games they play. It sounds like fun and can be. However, in most fantasy leagues there is an “entry fee” and a financial reward for those who do well, which also means a financial loss for those who do poorly. You can call it whatever you want, but if you are playing fantasy football and there is money to be won or lost, YOU ARE GAMBLING!

The appalling thing to me is the hypocrisy of the National Football League in regard to fantasy football. While the league takes a zero tolerance position regarding gambling on its games, they fully endorse and support fantasy football. They have taken this position for two reasons. First, they view it as an entertaining way for more people to watch and be involved in their product. They are 100% right since not many people would be worrying about the number of yards a running back on a bad team gained in a meaningless game late in the seasons, unless that player was on your fantasy team. Second, they claim to only endorse fantasy leagues where no money changes hand, knowing full well that 99% of fantasy leagues have entry fees anywhere from $10 to $100,000.

The reality is, the NFL as well as the NCAA that oversees the college game, fully understands and tacitly accept the fact that billions are wagered every season on their games. Pick up ANY newspaper during the season and in the back of the sports page are the Vegas lines. My friend, there is only ONE reason they are printed…for GAMBLING. The explosion of interest in college and pro football has been primarily driven by gambling. People can wager in Vegas, with the local bookie, with their friend, or at offshore bookmakers online, and then sit back and watch the game they have bet on.

Football and television are a match made in gambling heaven. The “line” is broadcasted and openly talked about in regard to EVERY game without any hesitation by the announcers. Programs geared to people who gamble are all over TV and radio during football season. You can now sit at home and watch virtually every college and pro game that is played. I can assure you, the ONLY reason someone is up at 2 a.m. on a Sunday morning watching Hawaii play TCU, other than those who went to Hawaii and TCU, are people betting on the game. The ONLY reason someone is watching two pro teams with 2-9 records on a Sunday afternoon, other than the fans of those teams, is because they have a bet on the game. Gambling has driven the TV ratings, which in turn has put millions in the pockets of the NFL and NCAA schools, which is why they say they are against gambling with a wink and a nod.

I am often asked whether it is a sin to bet on a football game or to buy a Lottery ticket. I am going to tell you up front that there is no verse in the Bible that says, “thou shalt not gamble.” However, let me give you a Biblical basis why gambling is a sin. Gambling involves an element of risk. Ultimately, you are putting your faith in something other than God for the outcome. Therein lies the foundation of why gambling is a sin. Instead of trusting God, instead of putting your faith in God, you have chosen to put your faith in luck. You are hoping to beat the odds and it is putting your hope and faith in something other than God that makes gambling a sin. Let me outline for you three additional reasons why gambling is a sin.

First, it can cause you to lose sight of your priorities. Never forget, anytime something is more important than the Lord in your life, it is a sin. We are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart and He MUST be our first priority at all times. Second, it can be a poor use of God’s resources that He has entrusted to you. Many people I have counseled are in financial difficulties, not because they have not been blessed by God, but because they have misused and mishandled their blessing. Lastly, it can be a stumbling block to your brother or sister. Many people have a compulsive nature, could end up in total bondage to gambling. So while it may not be a problem in your life, your involvement may cause someone else to have a problem with gambling.

Let me make an important point. When I talk about gambling, I am referring to the lottery, sports gambling, casino games, private card games, but I am also talking about the financial markets. Having been involved heavily in the financial markets in the 80’s, I can tell you that many people use the word investing, when in fact they are literally gambling. When you are taking a financial position in the outcome of something that is unknown, that is gambling no matter what words you want to use. You have as much control over the stock price of a particular company as you do over the performance of your favorite football team.

***This is NOT an indictment against having stocks and bonds. Prudent, reasoned, well strategized investment plans are encouraged in God’s Word. I am talking about those who are simply rolling the dice hoping to get lucky in the stock market.

The Bible teaches us to be wise stewards with the resources God has entrusted to us. I am a strong advocate of investing a portion of our resources in well researched, fundamentally sound opportunities that have the real potential of giving us a reasonable return. That is wise use of God’s money. God encourages this type of prudent investing. The line is crossed into gambling when you are just “hoping to be right,” or entering into a situation with greed as your motive. No prayer, no research, simply taking a chance you might win. For the above-outlined reasons, that is a sin my friend.

I love you and care about you so much. I will be praying for you today, praying for those who have been caught up in the bondage of this addiction to gambling, especially those caught up in gambling on football games. If you, or someone you know is addicted to gambling, know that I will be praying today for those who are in this bondage. God is a God of deliverance and He can deliver someone from the bondage of gambling. Never forget that there is hope in Christ, and no matter how bad someone has destroyed their life, God can help them put the pieces together if they are ready to surrender to Him.

Gambling is a sin, since inherent in the nature of gambling there is a reliance on chance instead of faith in God. But never forget that Christ died on the cross to wash our sins away and give us victory. If you are in bondage to gambling on football, it is no accident you are reading this message today. God is speaking to your heart about STOPPING. Don’t spend another season without sleep, worrying about an 18-year-old student at a school you can’t even pronounce making a 53-yard field goal to cover the spread or watching a meaningless Monday night game trying to get out of the hole from your losses on Sunday!

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Are You Sitting on the Sidelines

(James 1:22)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, give me your strength to stand for your Truth no matter what the cost. It is easy to call myself a follower of Jesus, but when confronted, when challenged, when faced with persecution, will I still say I am a follower of Jesus? I love you Lord and ask for your strength so no matter what I have to endure for my faith, I will stand firm. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

So many Christians are content to sit on the sidelines, listening, watching, experiencing the fullness of the Christian life vicariously through others. What I am about to say is going to get me in trouble, but it won’t be the first time. One of the popular Christian magazines each month has become little more than an advertising vehicle for this Holy Ghost Conference, that Camp meeting of the Millennium, the annual Partners Only Crusade, Women’s meetings, Men’s meetings, and on, and on, and on.

Listen, I am in no way trying to minimize, judge, or criticize what other ministries are doing. My Bible says that we need to be united, support one another, and that God is working through many different types of instruments. The point I want to make is that the people of God have gotten very fat and lazy with all of the Christian celebrities and the Christian entertainment that our culture has produced.

Again, there is nothing wrong with producing the finest quality radio, television, movie, and stage productions to help share the message of Christ. The point I am trying to get across is that it has made too many of God’s people lazy and more comfortable sitting on the sidelines watching, which was never God’s plan.

I am a big believer in education and listening to God’s anointed teachers of the Word to learn all we can. But while we are hearing the Word, we, also, must be doing the Word. All of the commands in the Gospels, the Book of Acts, Paul’s letters, and the other New Testament writings were to be active participants in our faith, helping others, witnessing, teaching new believers.

Spiritual gifts have become such a controversial topic and I will deal with that issue soon, but God gave gifts to His people to be active DOERS of the Word, not idle bystanders. He has given each one of His children gifts and abilities to help advance the Kingdom of God. Jesus taught in many parables that it is a sin to not utilize the gifts God has given you. In past Devotionals I spoke of the sin of omission. I want to make sure you clearly understand today, that it is a sin to NOT use the gifts and talents God has blessed you with to serve Him.

That does not mean you have to quit your job and become a missionary to a third-world country, or sell everything to start a ministry. God may call you to do that. However, for most of His children, He has called you to serve Him exactly where you are today. It is no accident you live where you live, go to school where you do, work where you do, or recreate and shop where you do.

God has placed you there strategically to be a light to others. The most effective way we can serve God is in our normal day-to-day life. Letting our Godly lifestyle be a living testimony to those we come in contact with. Helping those around us in a time of need. Getting involved in projects and ministries through our local church.

I love and care about you so much. I will be praying for you today, that these words will cause you to stop and reflect on your life. Ask yourself if you are on the sidelines or are actively living the Christian life God has called you to live. Are you using your gifts and talents for Him? Take inventory today of whether you are not only hearing the Word, but DOING the Word.

I care about you and love you as a brother and sister in Christ. I want to see you be all you can be and all God has called you to be for Him. Remember, our greatest and most effective service is rarely those big things we may be involved in for the Kingdom, but the quiet, one-on-one ministry to someone who is hurting and looking for hope. Everyone who knows Christ can tell someone that Jesus loves them.

Everyone that knows Christ can testify to what Jesus has meant in their life. Everyone who knows Christ can share the love and hope we have in Him with someone. Doing that makes you a DOER of the Word!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

(1 Corinthians 15:57)

***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Lord, thank you for meeting my daily needs as you have promised in your Word. I look to you and your alone for my sustenance through life, and thank you for your faithfulness. Please help me to be a good steward of the funds you entrust into my care during this life, and give me favor in my finances, and wisdom in my decisions. In the name of Jesus I pray…AMEN!

Blessings my friend!

***WHETHER YOU REALIZE IT OR NOT, YOU ARE AND HAVE BEEN FOR AS LONG AS YOU HAVE BEEN PART OF LIVEPRAYER, A WITNESS TO A REAL MIRACLE OF GOD AND A TESTIMONY TO HIS BLESSINGS ON A WORK DEDICATED TO BRINGING THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD AND THE GOSPEL TO THE LOST AND HURTING OUTSIDE OF THE FOUR WALLS OF THE CHURCH!!!

***AUGUST FINANCIAL UPDATE: Thank you for those who have stepped up to help me during this difficult as we press ahead by sheer faith in His strength and grace!!!! As you know, due to needing the entire month of July to clear up our June shortfall, we went into August needing to cover our entire July TV and internet budget of $65,000, along with our August budget.

Currently $35,000 of our July shortfall has come in, leaving us needing to cover the $30,000 balance plus the $65,000 we require for our August internet and TV operations. That is $95,000 before the end of the month! OUR GOD IS ABLE!!

Please pray about a special one-time year-end gift of $1,000 or more to help me insure Liveprayer continues to be a beacon of light to so many each day! Just 95 of our friends making a special year-end gift to the Lord’s work here of $1,000 would insure what we require for operations are taken care of. Some of you have recently sold a home, some property, a business, stocks, or something else. Please pray about sending a portion of those funds to help God’s work here at Liveprayer!!!

*******I desperately need ONE of our friends God has blessed who prays and seeks the Lord’s guidance and in honor of a spouse, parent, child, or other loved one, who can get $65,000 of the $95,000 we require into our account ASAP!!! That covers the $30,000 balance of July plus $35,000 of our August operations that is past due!

It is CRITICAL that I have $65,000 in our account ASAP in order to take care of critical expenses by the end business today!

I am standing in faith that as everyone prays and those who are able give according to your ability to give, we can bring in the $30,000 balance from July as well as the $65,000 required for our operations in August.

As we head into the final days of August, I am in awe of God and how He has moved through Liveprayer during this year. Despite the incredible financial challenges we have faced the past 8 years, He has continued to move on the hearts of friends like you and provide the resources we need to keep pressing forward saving souls every day, responding to over 40,000 emails for prayer daily, and getting His Truth into the marketplace.

Most important is the apx 2,000 people we know of each week who come to faith in Jesus through Liveprayer. Through over 17 years of ministry, that takes us over 1 million souls we know of from around the world who have come to faith in Jesus!!! AMEN!!! That is only possible through your love, prayers, and sacrifice to help me!!!

The reality is, we are on the verge of seeing the culmination of 17 years of ministry online and 13 years on TV, and the opportunity to help usher in a real spiritual revival in this nation as God has showed me. The time is very short. We have squandered God’s many blessings that He has poured out on this nation the past 200+ years.

Deuteronomy 8:19 says, “If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed.” We have not only worshipped and bowed down to every false god and idol there is, but have unleashed sin of every kind in our land. God will not be mocked!

are hungry for Truth. At this time, people are desperately looking for hope and answers. We have the only true hope there is and the only answers for each person and our nation. This nation is RIPE for revival, and the Holy Spirit has showed me that what we are doing will be the catalyst to spark the revival and see a true spiritual renewal in our nation. Turning back to God and His Truth is our ONLY hope, and time is running out for us to do that!!!

That is why today I am begging you to help me. Everyone can pray, and I ask you to take a few minutes and ask the Lord to move on the hearts of those who are able to make a financial sacrifice to help me in this effort with the most generous year-end gift you can. As those who have followed Liveprayer over the years, you know that my heart beats to bring God’s Truth to the marketplace, to reach the lost masses, to pray for people in their hour of need, and to see souls won to faith in Jesus Christ.

Will you pray about what God is calling YOU to do to help me in this effort to lead our nation back to God and His Truth? I need your support now more than ever. For every minute I have to spend asking people to help insure these basic needs are met, is one less minute I can spend with in the critical work the Lord has called me to as we work on different outreaches through the Internet and TV to usher in a real national revival.

I love you and care about you so much. Thank you for praying and thank you for making the sacrifice to help me. May history look back on our efforts for Christ and show our faithfulness as Heaven is packed full of souls who came to know Jesus through the work of Liveprayer!!!

In His love and service,

Your friend, brother, and co-laborer in Christ,

Bill Keller
