Losing the Battle for the Soul of this Nation

(Jeremiah 11:9-17)

Then the LORD said to me, “There is a conspiracy among the people of Judah and those who live in Jerusalem. They have returned to the sins of their forefathers, who refused to listen to my words. They have followed other gods to serve them. Both the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant I made with their forefathers. Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I will bring on them a disaster they cannot escape. Although they cry out to me, I will not listen to them. The towns of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they burn incense, but they will not help them at all when disaster strikes. You have as many gods as you have towns, O Judah; and the altars you have set up to burn incense to that shameful god Baal are as many as the streets of Jerusalem.’ “Do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them, because I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their distress. “What is my beloved doing in my temple as she works out her evil schemes with many? Can consecrated meat avert your punishment ? When you engage in your wickedness, then you rejoice.” The LORD called you a thriving olive tree with fruit beautiful in form. But with the roar of a mighty storm he will set it on fire, and its branches will be broken. The LORD Almighty, who planted you, has decreed disaster for you, because the house of Israel and the house of Judah have done evil and provoked me to anger by burning incense to Baal. Jeremiah 11:9-17

Losing the battle for the soul of this nation. Unbeknownst to most, there has been a major battle, a spiritual battle, raging in the heavenlies for the soul of this nation. It is a battle that sadly is being lost since like the children of Israel, this nation has forsaken the God of the Bible and turned to the false gods and idols of the world. God will not be mocked and the mercy and grace He has extended to this nation will soon turn to anger and wrath. Oh, how I have yearned to see this nation turn back to God and to His Truth, but I have had to accept that this nation wants nothing to do with God and will soon pay the price for its’ wickedness and rebellion.

I told you many times during 2007 that our next President would not be a friend of God. I have been saddened at the venom and anger unleashed on me for simply telling the truth about President Obama. So many have missed the point that it has NOTHING to do with politics or the color of his skin, and everything to do with a man who opposes God on every issue, and people hungry for someone to rise up and lead them.

Sadly, as Jesus predicted, there would be many false prophets, many who claim to be “Christ,” who will lead the people astray. You only needed to watch the emotional response of so many during the 2008 Presidential race to the charisma of Obama, the fainting and swooning at the empty rhetoric, to see how desperate the people are for someone to rise up and lead them….anywhere!

Jesus said that the people were like sheep, looking for a shepherd. Sadly, most of those who were called to be shepherds of God’s people, have like many of the priests in the Old Testament, only led the people in one way… to give them money. This is true from major national ministers down to the local church. It is amazing watching many of the top TV preachers who have the audacity to routinely ask people to send them $100 for their new private jet while they drive home each night to their million dollar mansion in a new luxury car.

However, this “lead the people only in how to give us their money” mentality is also alive and well on the local level as well, as churches spend hundreds of thousands of their donations on “consultants” to help them learn how to raise millions from their people for their next building project.

It is too bad those who God has called to be shepherds aren’t as proficient in winning souls to Christ or leading the people in ways of holiness and righteousness as they are in raising money to build monuments of bricks and mortar that one day will pass away. If you took every dollar that is invested in buying private jets and building buildings, and put those dollars into winning souls, a real worldwide revival would break out overnight!!!

I have to be honest with you. People have no problem emptying their bank account when it comes to building a building, but can’t even find $1 when it comes to saving souls. During the rise of PTL in the mid 80’s, Bakker stated that he always had to have some building project going on since people love to give to bricks and mortar. That is why over the past 40 years, ministries have left the marketplace and gravitated to the Christian trough where they can reach other Christians.

Most churches have lost their zeal for evangelism and church growth is either preaching a watered down message that won’t offend anyone or clever ideas how to steal people from the church down the street. The sad realty is with all of the resources going to buildings and everything BUT ministering to people, the lost are not being reached like they should and even many who know Christ are not being ministered to in their time of need.

So the end result is year after year most simply self perpetuate their “ministry” or “church” to keep it all going. They do the same conferences and conventions, attended by most of the same people, put on the same functions each year, since their goals aren’t spiritual as much they are earthly (money).

Those who could rise up and lead the lost and hurting masses to God’s Truth and righteousness, have instead decided to find a following amongst the faithful to build their own little kingdom here on earth. Because of this, the lost and hurting have been left to the wolves, the cults and false religions, to feast on.

Killing babies without conscience, porn on demand that has turned sex into a sport, gambling at every street corner, deviant sex like homosexually now acceptable and mainstream, living together without marriage, divorce rampant, children being raised in every kind of environment by any number of people as they grow up, alcohol and drug use commonplace, is where we are at the end of May 2011 because of the failure to lead the people by those God called to be shepherds.

Why do you think there are more churches, ministries, and Christian media today, yet at the same time our nation is in spiritual freefall and on the verge of feeling the wrath of God’s judgment?

After nearly 2 decades of ministry, I know the easy road. Go on Christian TV and radio, write books geared to Christians, develop relationships with other Christian leaders and work together to tap into each others support base, don’t offend people, generate millions annually, build glass buildings, buy a private jet, have a huge staff, and live like the ruler of a small nation. I know how to do all those things but I am not here to raise money, but save souls and minister to people in their time of need.

That is why for nearly 12 yrs now I have kept the ministry the focus of what we do, asking people to help me with exactly what we need to operate from one month to the next, making my annual audited financials available to people interested in donating to the ministry. I refuse to turn Liveprayer into a marketing organization that uses the people we minister to sell products to, call people at home to try and solicit donations, or fill your mail box full of direct mail letters.

Less than 1/4 of 1% of the people we minister to ever give to Liveprayer since I don’t look at people as “giving units,” but as souls who go through the same trials of life we all go through and from time to time and need someone to encourage them, stand with them in prayer, and minister to their needs.

A dear friend called me the other morning and shared Jeremiah 11:18 with me, “Because the LORD revealed their plot to me, I knew it, for at that time he showed me what they were doing.” It is God revealing to Jeremiah the plot against him by those who wanted to silence his voice. I can’t even begin to tell you all that I have gone through personally from both those in and outside the church for speaking out without compromise all these years. Especially this past years it has been as intense as ever, since I know in my heart God is going to use Liveprayer in a major way as this year unfolds to bring millions to Christ and lead our nation back to God and His Truth.

I love you and care about you so much. My friend, this is exactly why God has led me to start the Jonah Project. This isn’t about building a physical kingdom led by men that will one day be gone, but advancing God’s Kingdom that will stand for eternity!!!

This is not the typical one day special event that comes and goes and 3 hours after it is over, it is all but forgotten. This is an ongoing effort, a viable plan to not only lead this nation back to God and Biblical values, but to save souls, and for the first time mobilize the true remnant of Christ to come together as one and fight the sins that are ripping out the soul of this nation.

Let me be blunt with you. We never had to fight for our faith before. Because of that, we don’t know how to fight. While we have not yet had to fight for our faith physically, we have been in a fight for the past 40 years spiritually, and have been getting our rear ends kicked from pillar to post. Our solution has been to run and hide in our churches and the conformable Christian subculture we have created. It is like those in the inner cities who didn’t want to deal with the crime and seedier element that moved into the inner cities years ago. They simply left the inner city and ran to set up their own little utopia in the suburbs.

Well, you can’t run from sin. You either stand and fight sin and defeat it, or you allow it to eat you up! For nearly 20 years now I have rolled up my sleeves each day and gone to the front lines to fight for the faith. Through the power of Almighty God, for the last 12 years, He has used my sacrifice and the prayers and sacrifices of thousands in the Liveprayer family to impact tens of millions of lives around the world.

God is now calling us to a higher level of commitment and sacrifice. I am only one man. I can’t lead this nation back to God or wipe out the social ills of our day alone. I need you and millions of committed followers of Christ to help me. This is a call to battle stations before we lose this nation to satan once and for all. I realize most have never had to really fight for their faith before. I will teach you how.

Get on board the Jonah Project. Go to the website, watch the vision video, sign up, and get as many people as you can to sign on. I will lead you and guide you as the Spirit of the living God leads and guides me! Our nation, our faith, our Lord, is worth fighting for!!!

*Tomorrow, I will be unveiling our plans through the end of the year to fulfill God’s plan for His work here. As I share these words, we are in the last day of May, and the funds for our basic operational needs are lacking. Please take a few moments and seek the Lord what HE is calling you to do today to help me.

Since the first of April when I share with you the fleece I put before the Lord, we have received $84,000 of the $150,000 in donations and pledges I asked the Lord to deliver by the end of April. I am still walking by faith that by the end of May, the last $66,000 of this amount will come in! Will you help me today?

We have $15,000 of operational obligations that were due last Friday. I am asking for 2 people who can wire or overnight a check today to help insure this need is covered. If you can help me with this, please let me know.

The Debate Continues as to Whether War is a Proper Response

(Deuteronomy Chapter 20)

As we have been engaged in war against those who would love to destroy our nation, the debate continues as to whether war is a proper response. The proponents of “peace without war” use the Bible as their key defense of their position, even though many in the “peace without war” movement are avowed atheists and find the Bible to be little more than a book of stories. Interestingly, these same people run to God’s Word to defend their views.

However, many Christians also adopt this view of “peace without war.” I realize that this is a very divisive issue, and my goal is never to divide, but unite the Body of Christ. However, I cannot shy away from the tough issues, and ultimately we all must find peace on each issue, not in our own thoughts and ideas, but from the Word of God. That MUST be our final authority in ALL matters. Please pray as you read these words today.

To properly discuss war from a Biblical perspective, we have to understand the theological context from which war exists. God created man in perfection. Man was perfect, never to die. The creation God made for man to exist in was perfect. However, man’s sin changed all of that. We have to understand that war is a by-product of man’s sin. God did not create war. God does not approve of war. God even prevented David, a man after His own heart, not to finish the Temple because he was a man of war.

War stems from man’s sin and became part of the human condition from the very beginning. Because of man’s sin, because of the sin that is in every part of our world, until God brings this world as we know it to an end, war will ALWAYS be part of the human experience. THERE WILL BE NO PEACE UNTIL THE PRINCE OF PEACE HIMSELF RETURNS!!!

We are then faced with this situation. War is a result of man’s sinfulness. It will be part of this world until Christ returns and God brings this world as we know it to a conclusion. The question becomes, what is the proper response of a Christian to war. We all know that one of the 10 Commandments is “thou shalt not murder.” War involves killing. On the surface, the issue seems to be pretty simple. As Christians, we should not be involved in war since it involves killing. However, God Himself, ordered His children to war and specifically ordered them to kill on many occasions. This seems to be a gross contradiction. No matter what anyone leads you to believe, the Bible does NOT contradict itself EVER!!

The 10 Commandments were given to people . . . to individuals. In every case where God ordered His people to war, it was against an enemy who had no desire for peace, had no desire to settle their disputes amicably, and actually had the goal of destroying God’s people from the face of the earth. War became a defensive measure against the destruction of God’s people. There are many examples I can use, but does anyone think Adolph Hitler would have been stopped had it not been for the military effort that defeated his armies?

When studying the Bible, context is critical. When studying the Bible, taking the whole counsel of God into consideration is vital to properly understand it. That is why I share often that you have to read the entire book so you get a feel, an understanding for the nature of God. There is no doubt God is a God of peace. Peace was the perfection into which we were created. However, God is also a God of judgment, and often, God uses His people as instruments of His judgment.

We can never know completely the mind of God, or fully comprehend His plans, but it is clear in reading the Bible God often used His people in acts of war to preserve them from destruction. He also used His people to exercise judgment on those who were the enemies of God, and further His plan that all who would believe might know the gift of everlasting life through their faith in Him.

That brings us to today and our current situation. As Christians, how should we respond to the fact our nation is involved in war, which includes the killing of innocent men, women, and children. This of course, is the key argument of those who say we should not be involved in war, since innocent people will die. It is impossible to understand this issue without accepting God and His plan. It is impossible without accepting the Bible as God’s inspired, inerrant Word. You must realize that life is everlasting.

This time here on this earth is but for a brief few years. In light of eternity, whether we live 1 day, 1 year, 10 years, 20 years, 50 years, or 100 years, really makes little difference. Our purpose is NOT to see how long we can live, but find our faith in Christ and fulfill our God-given purpose to serve and glorify Him with whatever time we do have. The fact is, we all will die. Some through natural causes in old age. Some by disease. Some by accidents. Some through war. Regardless of how, we ALL will die one day. Which is why I try to remind you often, tomorrow is promised to nobody. We must treat each day like the gift from God it is. That is why the Bible says “Today is the day of salvation.” You may not have the chance to repent and come to know Christ tomorrow.

It is very sad that people are dying from these conflicts we are in. But the fact is, over 3,000 innocent people died on U.S. soil on September 11. The fact is, people in this world die each day because of wars between nations and people who disagree with each other on a wide array of issues. That is why we must all do our part each day to share the love and hope we have in Christ so that people worldwide have the opportunity to accept Him by faith so their eternal home with God is insured.

My personal belief through the study of the Scriptures is that God hates war, but allows it much like He allows other evils born out of the sin in our world. Romans 8:28 tells us, “In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Does God enjoy the evils that exist in this world due to sin? NO!!! Never forget that God is ALWAYS on His throne and always in control. Nothing happens that God does not allow. He can take the evil of man and use it to fulfill His plan and purpose.

Also, don’t forget that while we look at events in relation to time, God is not bound by time and the events of this world are but a blip in eternity to Him. One day, very soon, God will step in and bring to a conclusion this world as we know it. In the meantime, because of sin, there will always be evil and the by products of evil. However, God will always use events, even horrible events to further His plan and purpose for man to know Him by faith.

We as a nation have every right, and even responsibility to defend ourselves from those who would destroy us. Much like the children of Israel had a right and responsibility to defend themselves from those nations that would try to destroy them, there are evil forces in this world who would love to see the United States cease to exist. Thankfully, our forefathers understood this and defended our country to their death so that we could enjoy the great freedom and liberty we enjoy today. It is now our turn to defend this nation from its enemies to insure that our children have the same freedoms should the Lord tarry in His return.

God has used our nation in a great way in the fulfillment of His plans and purpose. Should we continue to honor Him, and glorify Him as a nation, I have no doubt that we will continue to be part of His plan. That is why I am sure God will be with this nation in this war on terror, since we are simply defending ourselves from people in the world who would see us destroyed-people who have no desire for peace!

I love you and care about you very much. I realize out of the over 2,400,000+ who get this Devotional worldwide, many will disagree with what I have said today. All I can do is implore you to dig into the Scriptures. Read throughout the Old Testament those passages that involve wars. Be careful in many of the passages both in the Old and New Testaments, to insure the context of the passage is referring to individuals or to nations. There are many places God is speaking directly to nations, and others, where He is clearly speaking to individuals. I know that there will continue to be division on this issue.

The fact is, no matter how you feel, war is with us until God decides to bring things to an end. There will be no real peace, until the Prince of Peace returns. As a nation, we must defend ourselves from those who would destroy us. But in so doing, we must insure that we remain a nation that honors and serves the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. As individuals, we must get serious not only about cleaning up our own lives, but doing so in order God can use us to minister to the lost and hurting. I believe deep down time is very short. We must take advantage of whatever time is left do be about our Father’s business.

May God continue to richly bless the United States, and all the nations of the world that honor Him. May God bless and instill wisdom in our leaders. May God bless and protect the men and women of the armed services from all the nations who support us in this action to rid the world of terrorism. May God bless those people who will be caught in the middle of this conflict, and may they find peace as they look to Him for comfort. Lastly, may God pour out His love to those who have turned their hearts against Him, that they may know His love and by faith receive the gift of everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Every Day We are So Busy with Our Daily Lives

(Psalms 2:11)

Every day, we are so busy with our daily lives. We have our calendars set. Some are so organized they can tell you from minute to minute each day where they will be and what they will be doing. That is good. We should be busy, and we should be organized. But did you know that somewhere in that busy schedule, you need to make some room because God has something for you to do for Him.

First of all, never forget why we are here. God created us to serve and glorify Him with our lives. If you start from that fact, then you have to realize that whatever God wants us to do for Him has to take priority over everything else. You see, God has blessed you with talents and gifts to use for His glory.

Most of the time, the job He has for us is to simply be a light in the darkness of this world; that means living a life that is pleasing and acceptable to Him, and a living testimony of your faith in God to those you are around each day. Each day He brings people across your path that need a smile, a word of encouragement, and someone to take a few minutes to let them know they aren’t alone. They didn’t come to you by accident. God sent them and expects you to show them His love.

I love you and care about you so much. We all have many problems of our own to deal with, some more severe than others. That is a fact of life in this sin-filled world and will never change until HE returns. The Bible teaches us clearly that if we are about His business, He will be about ours.

Trust me, God can deal with your problems much better than you can. So why not let Him use you today and each day to be His living witness to those He brings your way, of how real the Lord is. You will not even begin to understand the blessings that flow in your life when you are fulfilling your ultimate purpose of serving Him, and those problems you left in God’s hands somehow seem to get handled.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Falling Off the Wagon

(1 Corinthians 10:12)

“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:12)

Falling off the wagon. You have a battle with alcohol and promise the Lord you will stop drinking, 12 days later you drink. You have a battle with prescription drugs and promise the Lord you will quit, 4 days later you take some more. You have a battle with pornography and vow to the Lord you won’t look at porn any more, 17 days later you are looking at porn. You have a battle with your weight and tell the Lord no more sweets, 2 nights later you are sitting at your kitchen table eating a quart of Haagen Dazs. You have a battle with smoking and finally tell the Lord you won’t smoke again, 24 days later you are having a cigarette. What do you do when you decide once and for all to take a stand over whatever bondage you may be battling in your life, to start living in victory over that bondage, and then fall off the wagon?

When you fall off the wagon, you feel like a failure. You are consumed with guilt and shame. You can’t believe after you did so good you fell. You are disgusted with yourself for being so weak. You know in your heart you not only let the Lord down, but broke your promise to Him. On top of all of those feelings and emotions, here comes your old buddy the devil to pour salt in the fresh wound. He reemphasizes what a failure you are, how you lied to Jesus and now He wants nothing to do with you, that whatever goes wrong in your life is God punishing you for falling, how the Bible is lie otherwise you would have been delivered from this bondage, that it is OK to give in to your carnal urges, God really doesn’t expect you to be perfect, and oh yes the best of all, you aren’t really saved or you wouldn’t sin like that.

WOW, are you still with me or did you stop reading and delete this already? The fact is, EVERYONE needs to hang in there and get through this message today since EVERYONE has bondages that we fight throughout the course of our life. Just so you know, lying is as much of a bondage as drugs. Gossiping is as much of a bondage as homosexuality. Anger is as much of a bondage as alcohol. Being mean to people is as much of a bondage as pornography. The fact is, we all have bondages in our life. Some people may not be fighting the more visible and popular bondages, but anything that is keeping you from being like Jesus and living in obedience to God’s Word is a bondage!

Since we all fight different bondages during our life, it is critical to talk about what happens when we fall off the wagon or fail since that is part of the battle. Let me say right up front, when you fail it doesn’t mean you don’t love the Lord or aren’t really saved, it simply means your flesh is weak. Paul summed up this classic battle between our flesh and the Spirit in Romans 7 when he stated that, “He did the things he didn’t want to do and didn’t do the things he wanted to do.” My friend, we are men and women of flesh and blood. Our flesh is weak. Failure is part of the human experience.

Does that make is OK to sin? OF COURSE NOT! Is it an excuse to sin? OF COURSE NOT! Does it mean we are doomed to failure? OF COURSE NOT! It simply means that in the course of battling with whatever bondage you may be dealing with, you may have a moment of weakness and fail God. What I want to do today is share with you how to respond to your failure. What do you do when you fall off the wagon?

The first thing you do is go to God and ask Him to forgive you. 1 John 1:9 tells us that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. After you go to God and confess your sins, asking Him to forgive you, the next step is to go back to living in victory over your bondage as you were before you fell. It is the old adage of when you fall off a horse get right back on. Don’t ever forget, you have an enemy that wants to see you fail, that takes delight when you fail. If you do fall off the wagon, ask the Lord’s forgiveness and then get right back to living in victory and freedom over your bondage.

This is where your faith has to take over and becomes so important. You have to realize that even though your bondage is in the natural, what you are really fighting is a spiritual battle. While you need to have the practical day-to-day pieces in place to live in victory, things like being accountable to others, staying away from people, places, or things that could cause you to fall, working hard to keep from being in a position to be tempted, you also have to work on the spiritual aspects of walking in victory. The Bible tells us that our battles are NOT against flesh and blood, but they are spiritual.

That is why we have to be praying every day, all throughout the day. We have to be in the Word of God every day, taking time to study and meditate on His Truth. We have to be part of a local church to be fed and grow spiritually, to have fellowship with other Believers, to serve the Lord. These are the basics we have to be doing to stay connected to the Lord each day and stay strong spiritually. We already know our flesh is weak, so we can never lose sight that it is a constant daily battle to live in victory. We can never take for granted that we have won and are safe, since the second we stop doing the things necessary to keep our faith strong, that is when we will fall.

Today’s anchor verse from 1 Corinthians is the key. We can never stop doing the things we must do to stay strong spiritually or we will fail God. I know in my own life as I have worked to overcome different bondages in my life, to try to become more like Jesus each day, when I am not praying as hard as I should, or when I am not reading and studying the Word like I should, or when I am not doing all the things to stay strong spiritually that I should, that is when I fail God. When you stop doing all the things you need to do each day to stay strong spiritually, that is when you will fall off the wagon.

I love you and care about you so much. Everyone reading these words today knows what it is like to fight some bondage in your life, get victory for a period of time, then fail. That is part of life my friend. The Book of First John was written to Believers and tells us that if we say we don’t sin then we are a liar. God doesn’t stop loving you or caring about you. His promises didn’t change, they are still true. YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR IN CHRIST JESUS! My word for you today is that when you are in the battle over some bondage in your life and fall off the wagon, go to God and tell Him you are sorry and then get back on that road to victory!

Don’t waste precious time having a pity party and being discouraged. Don’t sit there and listen to satan lie to you. Get back to doing the practical and spiritual things you need to do in your life each day and start enjoying the great feeling it is to live your life in obedience to God and His Word and in victory over those weaknesses in your life. God has much work for you to do, so the quicker you get back to walking on the road of victory, the quicker you can get back to fulfilling your purpose in this life which is to serve and glorify Him!

I will be praying for you today. Praying especially for those who have fallen off the wagon. God is a God of restoration and He wants to restore you today so that you can not only live in victory over your bondage, but know the peace and joy of your relationship with Him. We all wish we could go back and do things different in our life but that is not reality. The reality is if you have fallen off the wagon it is time to get up, dust yourself off, and get back into that close, intimate daily walk with the Lord so that you are operating in His strength and not your own. In your strength it is only a matter of time before you fail. In His strength, you will not fail but live in VICTORY!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

The Suffering We All Experience in this Life

(Acts 5:31; Romans 8:18; Philippians 3:10; 2 Thessalonians 1:5; 1 Peter 4:13)

“Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance.” Romans 5:3 (NIV)

The suffering we all experience in this life. Sadly, many people enjoy the suffering of others. Even though they won’t admit it, some people take a certain amount of sick pleasure in seeing others suffer. Somehow they feel better about their own life when they see someone else in pain. Why else would pure garbage like Jerry Springer be so popular?

It is the explanation for why the judge programs have always been a staple of daytime television. It also explains why people become hooked on soap operas. It is THE reason people are fascinated by reality TV programs that dominate television today. I know for a fact that it is why some people watch the Liveprayer television program, to hear the pain of others as they call in for prayer and counsel.

When we think about suffering, we think about the suffering we do in this life from just living in an evil and sin infested world. That is why our relationship with the Lord is so critical. A byproduct of that relationship is the strength we get from within to endure the suffering of this life. A byproduct of that relationship is the peace and the joy we can know despite the suffering we may be experiencing. A byproduct of that relationship is the victory we can know even in the midst of the suffering life often brings our way. It is our relationship with the Lord that enables us to live a life of peace, joy, and victory even in the midst of the suffering we often have to endure!

Of course the Bible also talks about the suffering we do for the Lord. It says we should count it as joy to suffer for Him. My friend, you should rejoice if you are given the chance to truly suffer for Jesus. After all, He suffered for you!

There is NO suffering you will ever do, even to the giving of your life, that will compare with the suffering He did in paying for your sins. We should be grateful if we get the chance during our life to suffer for the cause of Christ. There are many brothers and sisters in Christ around the world who suffer every second of their life to be called a follower of Christ.

Most in this country call suffering getting up for church on Sunday morning, or having to perform some act of service. We haven’t got a clue what suffering for the Lord really is, but as our nation spirals deeper in the spiritual abyss it is in we may find out very soon. If you ever get that opportunity, stand strong, know the Lord is with you, and boldly, proudly, and without fear, proclaim that Jesus is your Savior and He is the Lord of Lord and King of Kings!!!

I love you and care about you so much. I will be praying for you. I know this morning many are suffering from the trials and tribulations of life. I pray today that God will give you His strength, peace, and joy despite the challenges you face today. That in the midst of your suffering, you will come to know His presence in a special way.

He loves you and has promised to never leave you nor forsake you, even in your suffering! I will pray for you as well that if you are fortunate to get the opportunity to suffer for the Lord, you will embrace that opportunity. It is one of life’s great honors to be able to suffer for Christ. I pray that you will seize such a moment and let your life be a living sacrifice for Christ and that He will be glorified in your suffering.

These are the last days. Great persecution will soon come upon the church and God’s people. That is what the Bible says. These are the times for those who know Christ to stand up and be counted. Those who are playing games, those who are serving the Lord with the wrong motives, will all fall away.

It is that faithful remnant which will remain as they take their stand and truly suffer for being called a Christian. This life is about one thing, being faithful, even unto death. Now is the time for those who love the Lord to let this world know that no matter what we have to face for simply being a follower of Christ, we will proudly suffer for Jesus just as Jesus proudly suffered for us!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Is There Something in this World that You Love More than God

(1 John 2:15; Titus 2:12; Galatians 4:3; Colossians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 5:15-17)

After writing the Daily Devotional every day for nearly 12 years now, I already know when I am going to catch lots of grief from what I write. This is going to be one of those days so I am prepared for it. Let me start, today, by asking you a fair question. Is there something in this world that you love more than God?

I have no doubt some people will pause as they think of the love they have for their spouse, for their parents, and their children. As much as we may love those special people God blesses us with during our brief journey through life, our love for God MUST always be first. This is a truth most people are able to understand and accept.

More to the point, however, is there some THING in this world that you love more than God? We say we love God, we say God is first in our life, but is He really? Let me be a bit more specific. Is God first in your life, ahead of your career? Is God first in your life, ahead of your hobbies and special interests? Be careful now, we know what the RIGHT answers to these questions are, but are they the TRUE answers?

Even though I know you don’t want to, let’s go a bit deeper. Does your work or career take priority over God in your normal day to day life? Do you invest as much time each week into God as you do your hobbies and special interests? One of the profound statements Jesus made was, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Since that is a great measuring stick of where our heart is, how much of your treasure goes to God as opposed to the pleasures of this world?

Listen, PLEASE do not misunderstand what my message to you today is. I am NOT saying that your career is not important. After all, it was God who gave you the gifts and talents you have to be successful in your career, it was God who opened the doors for you to be where you are at, and it is God who gives you favor and blessings each day in your career. I am also NOT saying that your hobbies and special interests are not important. Again, it was God who gave you the desires and passions for the things you enjoy in this life. Nor am I saying you should not use some of the resources God has entrusted to you to enjoy the abundance of this life.

What I AM saying is that we have to take inventory of our life from time to time and ensure that we are keeping God first at all times, in all things. We can fall into patterns at times and slowly ease God out of our day-to-day life. Not consciously, but often without even realizing it put other things in our life ahead of God. This is a subtle trap of the enemy since once God is no longer first in your life, you are wide open to be attacked. This becomes an open door for satan to enter your life and harm you.

I love you and care about you so much. It is out of that love that I am sending you this warning today. Simply take a moment and ask yourself the tough questions in regard to where God fits in your life. Is He first in ALL areas of your life? Don’t play games with yourself, since this is for YOUR benefit, not Gods. This is to protect YOU from giving the enemy any room to operate in your life.

I will be praying for you today. Praying that you will never forget that God MUST be first in your life at all times, in all things. We can never allow any person, our career, our hobbies or interests to become more important than God. He has got to be our first priority and our first love at all times. God gives us special people to share this life with, He gives us gifts and talents to use in our careers, and it is God who gives us passions and desires for the things we enjoy in this life. We must never fall into the trap of loving the things of this world more than we love God.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Most People aren’t Prepared for Major Spiritual Attacks nor Major Blessings in Their Lives

(1 John 4:4; James 2:17; Ephesians 6:13-17; Psalms 68:19)

Most people aren’t prepared for major spiritual attacks in their life, nor are they prepared for major blessings in their life! This is a mature word for you today, so I suggest you take a few moments to clear your head and open your heart to receive what God is trying to tell you in this message. Every day I deal with so many people who find themselves under tremendous attack spiritually. Most of them are not prepared in any way for the onslaught of the destruction satan brings into their lives. When the attacks are over, their lives look like those horrible pictures of Pearl Harbor after the Japanese sneak attack on December 7, 1941, or the aftermath of 9/11. Likewise, I deal daily with people who have been blessed abundantly, and are just as unprepared to deal with all of God’s blessings as those who are unprepared to deal with major spiritual attacks.

Let me give you a personal observation from dealing with millions of people over 20 years of ministry. Most people CHOOSE to stay on the sidelines because it is safe there. The fact is, they don’t really want to be abundantly blessed and they really don’t want to suffer major spiritual attacks. They SAY they want to be abundantly blessed, but don’t want to pay the price to receive and be responsible for those blessings. They also live their lives defensively to try and avoid any major spiritual attacks. So they have found the safest place is the sidelines. Sitting in a pew on Sunday morning, attending a few Christian events during the year, going to an occasional Bible study, helping out here and there, but for the most part keeping their heads down and just trying to be “safe.”

Here is the problem with that strategy….IT DOESN’T WORK! Here is another problem…it goes against God’s Word! God never expected His children to be passive in their faith, but ACTIVE! Many people totally misunderstand James 2:17, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” This is NOT a passage declaring you have to have good works to be saved. Quite the contrary. It is a passage written to Believers stating that good works flow FROM your salvation. In other words, if you have truly accepted Christ into your heart and life by faith, if you have been “born again,” it is natural that good works will flow from your life! GOOD WORKS CAN’T FLOW FROM YOUR LIFE IF YOU ARE SITTING ON THE SIDELINES!

Over and over in the Gospels, we have the exhortation from Jesus to “be about our Father’s business.” We are told to “go out and preach the Gospel,” and to “bring in the lost and hurting.” Many parables are about investing our gifts and talents in serving the Lord. It is clear that God’s Word doesn’t suggest, but COMMANDS Believers to be active in their faith by serving God. As a matter of fact, the general purpose for all of us is to serve and glorify God with our lives. Service is an action word. YOU CAN’T SERVE GOD IF YOU ARE SITTING ON THE SIDELINES!

I realize that a big reason so many Believers are on the sidelines is that they don’t want to deal with the major spiritual attacks that come from serving the Lord. Many have stepped out to serve the Lord and been attacked and immediately retreated. That is exactly what satan wants. He wants to scare you into doing nothing. The reality is, you are going to be attacked whether you are serving the Lord or just sitting on the sidelines. So you might as well obey God and serve Him and simply prepare yourself for the attacks you know will be coming. After a while, you will not only get used to the attacks, but see them coming since satan is really not very creative. You’ll get to know his entire arsenal pretty quick. That doesn’t mean you can let your guard down, only that you will be ready for him when he comes after you.

Satan will attack you personally. We ALL have weak areas in our life. By trial and error, satan WILL eventually find yours. Constantly shore up those weak areas in your life since it is a guarantee that he will come after you hard in those areas. Satan will attack you through those people you are closest to in this life, your spouse, your children, your parents, your siblings, other family members and friends. Satan will attack you through your finances. Trust me when I tell you, satan can attack you through your finances whether you have just a little money or vast amounts of resources. Satan will attack you through your health. We will all die one day, and most of our bodies will experience breakdowns along the way. Satan will attack you through your school, employment, and hobbies. Suffice it to say, there is not one area of your life that satan will not attack you.

Listen my friend, God knew that when you chose to follow and serve Him that the enemy would come after you. That is why He has given us that great promise in 1 John 4:4 that “greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.” That simply means that the power of the Holy Spirit that indwells every Believer, is greater than the power of satan who is attacking you. We also have the “armor of God” found in Ephesians chapter 6. Again, God knew that those who served Him would come under attack, and has given His children all they would need to withstand the attacks from satan and press forward in their service to Him. It is not a mater of if satan will attack, only when, in what area, and how hard.

Just like most people aren’t prepared for the major attacks from satan, believe it or not, most people aren’t prepared for the major blessings from God in their life! Blessings require accountability and responsibility. God will hold us accountable for our blessings, meaning we are responsible for how we appropriate those blessings. Do we simply hoard our blessings like some miser holding onto his first dollar? Or do we share our blessings, knowing that God has blessed us so that we can be a blessing to others? Just like we can’t escape the attacks from satan, we can’t escape the rich blessings from God. Let me say that once more since I know that went right by most. Just like we can’t escape the attacks from satan, we can’t escape the blessings from God!!!

God LOVES to bless His children. God blesses us despite ourselves, even though we don’t deserve them! When we are faithful, when we are obedient, when we are honoring God with our lives, God will bless us above and beyond anything we ever could imagine. Those blessings require us to take an even bigger stand for the Lord. Those blessings force us to an even greater level of commitment in serving Christ. Whatever we may have done yesterday for the Lord isn’t enough any longer. Because of God’s abundant blessings, we have to do more. My friend, no matter what you have done for the Lord in the past, no matter what you are doing for the Lord today, YOU CAN ALWAYS DO MORE TOMORROW! GOD’S BLESSINGS ON OUR LIFE REQUIRE US TO DO MORE!

I love you and care about you so much. Here is my word for you today, please hear me. If you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart and life by faith, you are COMMANDED and REQUIRED to serve Him with your life. Your life is no longer your own, it belongs to Him. Sitting on the sidelines is NOT an option. That means you will come under attack. Be prepared for it. God has given you all you need to withstand the attacks of satan. Just know going in that he is going to come after you, but that God is watching over you and will protect you. That is why staying close to the Lord through His Word, through prayer is so important each day. That is why following God’s Word in how we live our lives each day is critical. Satan is already going to come after you, so don’t help him by opening the door through sin.

By following the Lord in your life, that also means you are going to be blessed, above and beyond what you ever imagined. Be prepared for it. Know that with God’s blessings comes a responsibility to be a good steward over those blessings. God blesses us so that we can be a blessing to others. As we walk in obedience to the Lord, faithfully serving Him, God will bless us so that we are able to serve Him in greater ways. The more we serve the more blessings we will receive, the more blessings we receive the more we must serve. There is no limit to God’s blessings and there is no limit to our ability to serve Him.

I will be praying for you today. Praying that you will not be afraid of satan’s attacks in your life, but be prepared for them. They are a sign that you are a threat to the enemy. God will protect you! I will also be praying that you will be prepared for God’s richest blessings in your life as you faithfully serve and follow Him. Receive His blessings as an encouragement to press in deeper into your own daily walk with the Lord as well as your service to Him. Blessings are a gift from God and His way of saying “well done thou good and faithful servant” even now during this life as you honor Him with your service.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller
