Many are Called Few are Chosen

(Genesis 12:1-4)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, is it an issue which day of the week you worship the Lord i.e. Sunday vs Saturday?

ANSWER: We should be worshipping the Lord EVERY day. The day we choose to gather as a fellowship is not that big of a deal. In the Old Testament, it was the Sabbath (Saturday) under the Law. We are not under the law any longer. The early church started meeting on Sunday as a way to remember Christ’s Resurrection. The most important thing is that we are in an active fellowship no matter what days they choose to meet. I can assure you that when we die and stand before God, He is not going to worry about the day of the week we chose to sit in a pew.

Hebrews Chapter 11 is one of the great chapters in the Bible. We read about Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Samuel, the prophets…they all had one thing in common…THEY ANSWERED THE CALL!! Common sense tells me that God had probably called others, but they refused to answer His call.

The Bible tells us that “many are called, few are chosen”. We must be willing to answer God’s call when it comes. Noah answered God’s call to build the ark. Abraham answered God’s call to leave Ur. Moses answered God’s call to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. There are three basic elements in answering the call of God. First, you must know God. Second, you must respond by faith. Lastly, you can’t turn back.

You must first know God in an intimate way. If you have a special job to be done, do you ask a stranger to do it, or call a friend? When God has a special job to do, He calls someone that he has a relationship with. He knows each one of His children intimately. He knows our strong points, our weak points, what we are capable of. God knows better than you do what you can accomplish. Never forget, God calls us for a specific purpose at different times in our lives based on His plan.

He will never ask you to do something that He hasn’t equipped you to perform. Hebrews 11:1 says “ is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Once God calls you, we must respond by faith. Faith is not a blind leap in the dark, but a trust in God. When God called Abraham, he left obediently, not even knowing where he was going. He trusted God. James tells us that faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action is dead. In talking of Abraham, James said that “his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.”

But once you hear God call you, and you respond by faith, you then can’t turn back. Jesus said, “no one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Once you answer the call of God, you will be attacked. There are some sad examples in scripture of those who heard, responded by faith, then turned back. John Mark went with Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey but turned back. Demas a co-laborer with Paul is said to have deserted Paul because of his love for the world.

My friend, answering the call of God is not easy, but God will make you adequate to stand the attacks and follow through.

Hebrews 11:13-16: “All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted they were aliens and strangers on earth., People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country..a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”

These men and women of faith never turned back because they realized there was no place to turn back to!!! Peter said it best when he said, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe that you are the holy one of God.”

I love you, and care about you deeply. I pray that you will be inspired by these words today. Inspired to develop that close, intimate relationship with God so that you will be available for His use. I pray that you will develop faith to answer His call when it comes. I pray that as you answer that call by faith, nothing will stop you from performing the job that He has given you to perform. Our purpose in this life is to serve and glorify Him. Take your mind off of your desires, your goals, your will. Focus instead on His desires, His goals, His will. ANSWER THE CALL!!

What is The Secret

(Hebrews 11:1)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, who is right, football player Tim Tebow or the Pastor at First Baptist Dallas?

ANSWER: Sadly, Tebow and whoever his handlers are made a HUGE mistake. In these last days, now more than ever men of God need to take a stand. Homosexuality IS a sin. Islam IS a false religion. If he and his people are worried about being associated with a church that preaches Biblical Truth, what Truth will they stand for?? This is the type of compromise and lack of guts that has helped put this nation into the spritual abyss we find ourselves.

What is “The Secret?” If I needed a reminder of why we do what we do 24/7/365 here at Liveprayer, it is because of lies like “The Secret” that leads millions down a dark path far away from God and the Truth of His Word. Of course, any time you have something that is clearly born out of rebellion to God and His Word, you have an unbelieving world all too anxious to promote it to the masses. The secular media, merchants of false hope like Oprah, are quick to embrace these perverted New Age philosophies that purport to hold the answers man is looking for.

There is nothing new about “The Secret.” It is simply recycled New Age philosophies with a slick marketing campaign behind it to entice millions of lost, Biblically illiterate souls into buying their books and tapes. The core is the old New Age philosophy “The Law of Attraction.” The “Law of Attraction” theory states that our feelings and thoughts affect real events in the world, from the workings of the entire cosmos to interactions among individuals in their physical, emotional, and professional affairs. Again, this is NOTHING NEW, but simply a repackaged and slickly marketed New Age philosophy that has been around for thousands of years.

“The Secret” is that if you believe something long enough and hard enough that it will eventually materialize. You get what you think about, your thoughts determine your destiny. If you want $50 million, you can have it. All you have to do is focus on having $50 million. Envision that you have a bank account with $50 million in it and you will. It is the foundation of the motivational gurus like Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, and others who promote this concept of success through a positive mental attitude. For years they have been selling this New Age belief that if you think only good things, only good things will happen to you. Again, all the New Age motivational gurus of our day like Robbins have done is sell people a perversion of true Biblical faith and a lie that you can have anything if you think about it enough.

I tell you all the time that satan is the great perverter. He creates nothing, only perverts the perfect creation of God. That is the case here as well. In essence, the New Age concept, “The Law of Attraction,” is nothing but a perversion of true Biblical faith! That is why I warn you about things like this, since “The Secret” really isn’t anything creative at all, it is simply a perversion of faith. The writer of Hebrews defines faith as follows, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” I have always said that true Biblical faith is believing God can and will do exactly what He has promised in the Bible.

Okay, I am going to step on some toes now so get ready. The New Age gurus of the day, the people selling this lie called “The Secret” are not the only ones who have perverted true Biblical faith. Sadly, so have many in the church. What is often called the hyper-faith crowd have for years preached a false doctrine commonly known as “name-it-and claim-it.” This is why I urge you so often to read and study the Bible for yourself. That way when you hear faulty teaching you can spot it right away. One of the most dangerous games too many play is taking one verse or one passage out of context and basing their theology on that extracted verse or passage. IT IS CRITICAL TO TAKE THE WHOLE COUNSEL OF GOD INTO CONSIDERATION!

Yes, we are to have faith that all things are possible with God. Yes, we can do all things through Christ. However, we can’t forget to factor in God’s plans and desires. Biblical faith is not God granting us our wishes like some Divine genie in the bottle. God has promised to meet our needs, not our wants. You want a Ferrari. You need a car. God will meet your need for a car. If at some point you are blessed to be able to buy a Ferrari, praise the Lord. But there is nothing in the Bible that equates our faith with personal prosperity. Again, this has been the perverted teachings of the hyper-faith, prosperity Gospel movement that has emerged over the past 30 years, which focuses on people’s personal greed and desire for the “things of the flesh” and this temporal world.

These prosperity teachers are tapping into the same greed and desire for the things of this world that the motivational gurus focus on as well as the various New Age philosophies like “The Law of Attraction” which is the core teaching of “The Secret.” As you mature in Christ, part of that maturation process is our wants and desires become God’s wants and desires. We may want a Ferrari, but our priorities shift from what we want to what God wants. Having a Ferrari no longer becomes our driving passion. What motivates us as we mature in Christ are the things of God and what He wants from our lives.

*Those who pervert true Biblical faith make it about what we want, when true Biblical faith is about what God wants!

I love you and care about you so much. Please don’t fall for the hype of “The Secret.” There are no secrets to living this life. God gave us everything we would ever need in the pages of His Word. There are no secrets to having wealth. There is no amount of “mind control” you can use to get $50 million. THE PEOPLE WHO CREATED “THE SECRET” ARE GETTING RICH SELLING YOU THIS BOGUS PHILOSOPHY!!!

It is like the no-money-down real estate guys. They don’t make money in real estate. They make money selling their resources to you! What has Tony Robbins ever done? NOTHING, EXCEPT SELL TONS OF BOOKS AND TAPES TO OTHER PEOPLE ON HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL!!! Here I go again. The prosperity teachers are prosperous because they have tricked you into giving them money. Their prosperity comes from you!

Why does God prosper some and not others? Why did God bless Abraham with so much, yet most who lived at the same time had nothing but what they needed to survive that day? Ever wonder why those who preach this false prosperity Gospel only preach it in the United States and not in India or Africa? Does that mean those who are poor and with nothing in China but love Jesus don’t have as much faith as someone who lives in a trendy suburb of Dallas? YOUR FAITH IS NOT MEASURED BY YOUR BANK ACCOUNT BUT BY HOW YOU LIVE FOR THE LORD EACH DAY!

Only God knows why some are blessed to have more material possessions than others. I can tell you this. At the moment you take your last breath, all the homes, all the cars, all the stock portfolios, all the things of this temporal world mean NOTHING! At that moment the only thing that matters is if you know Jesus as your personal Savior by faith. A rich man may die in a nicer bed with nicer surroundings than a poor man, but the moment they both take their last breath, all they had or didn’t have in this life is meaningless.

“The Secret” is nothing but a perversion of true Biblical faith and a lie from the pits of hell. Those who sell it and promote it, are selling and promoting a lie from satan designed to lead people down a dark path away from God and Biblical Truth. There are no secrets to living this life. God gave us everything we need in the pages of the Bible. While the lost masses chase the secret to having wealth in this life, those who know Jesus Christ possess the only true answers for true wealth in this life and for eternity. Don’t waste your money on “The Secret” since all the answers you are looking for are in THE BIBLE!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Praise Reports

(Psalms 91:15, 89:1)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, what is a Prophet? Who were the Prophets? What is the purpose of Prophets?

ANSWER: The “Prophet” is a spokesman for God. In the OT, prior to the completion of the Bible, God spoke through the prophet to foretell events as well as lead the people in ways of righteousness. Now that we have God’s Word in its complete form, the modern day prophet is not a “Christian fortune teller” as many portray themselves, but a FORTHTELLER. Nothing a prophet says can contradict God’s Word. Their purpose is to share God’s Truth as found in the Bible and lead the people in the ways of God. The prophet was never and still is not a popular person since they have made a solid commitment to God above all else, and have always been despised by the formal religious community for telling people the raw truth and not being involved in the politics of the church. The true prophet is not able to be bought off and his allegiance is to the Truth of God’s Word and building the Kingdom of God. By the way, this is another reason Mormonism is a cult from hell, since they claim to be “modern day prophets” with a “new revelation.” That is a DIRECT contradiction to the last verses of the Bible and exposes them as “false prophets,” which by definition is someone who leads people AWAY from God’s Word and faith in the Jesus of the Bible.

One of the joys in my life is to look over some of the thousands of incredible praise reports we receive every day here at Liveprayer. Real people that had emailed us to pray about real issues in their life. It is a tremendous honor and privilege to be able to stand in agreement with people for the needs they face during the course of their journey through life. I am always moved to see God’s grace and mercy at work in the lives of people as He answers their prayers.

Several times each year, I like to share a sampling of those praise reports with you. I do this because so many of you are facing great obstacles in your life today, and need to know God is there. The Bible proclaims that God is no respecter of person. That simply means what God has done for someone else, He will do for you. So I want you to know today that no matter what your need is, what your problem is, what the battle you are fighting may be, God not only hears your prayers, BUT HE ANSWERS YOUR PRAYERS!

Also, so many of you pray and sacrificially give to the work God is doing here at Liveprayer. I want to encourage you today as well, that your prayers, and your gifts to this work are not in vain. What we do each and every day for over 2 million people all over the world is only possible because you care, you pray, and you give. Let these praise reports be an encouragement to you that God is using you to make a difference in the lives of people. God is using your obedience, your faithfulness to reach those who are lost and hurting with His love and hope. May God use these praise reports today to be a blessing to you!

“I sent a prayer request in yesterday about my coworker’s friend that has cancer and was not a Christian. She was saved last night. PRAISE GOD! I just wanted to say thank you for your prayers.”

“I have to report that through all my financial difficulties where I thought I would never find enough money to pay my bills, that I thought my checks were going to bounce, that I faithfully continued to give my same offering to my church that I had before I lost my high paying job, I still continued to give to, I still continued to support my local Christian radio station and the racetrack chaplaincy program. I KNEW that it is as the Lord says, that if you continue to give to HIM, HE will take care of you. AND He always has come through. Right now He is working such miracles that I have to keep blinking to make sure that I am not dreaming. God bless Bill Keller and his work and thank you GOD for your blessings and the strength You have given me to keep my faith going.”

“Thanks for your continued love and sharing your wonderful devotionals with us each day. Because of your devotionals, I have made life changes and look forward to what Jesus has planned for my life! AMEN !!!!”

“When Dr. Spellman walked into that examining room today and announced “Goiter” I about fell off the examining table. I didn’t think my ears were hearing what they were hearing. I said, “No cancer?” and he repeated “Goiter”. With that I put my arms around his neck and cried. Even my husband was teary eyed. I told the doctor that Jesus had removed what was there. Then I turned my eyes towards Heaven and thanked Him again.”

“Dear Bro. Bill, A few weeks ago I sent in a prayer request for a neighbor’s child who the Doctors thought might have a rare form of cancer. You prayed, plus our church prayed along with others. The end result….it wasn’t cancer after all!!!!”

“Dear Ones in Christ, I thank you for the prayer for me when I wrote several months ago. Being recently divorced from a pastor at that time and having total unforgiveness in my heart, it was so difficult to function in the body of God. To my surprise, there was a response informing me to draw up a battle plan. I followed that very Godly advice. Now many months later, I have become a “snake killer” with the enemy under my feet. A prayer force of women meet in my home weekly praying for all needs and I can be used by the Lord again since the unforgiveness is totally gone. I never knew what a horrible feeling spiritually, emotionally and physically one can have from unforgiveness. A tremendous weight is lifted and I know God will use me in ministering to others with the same circumstances I was in. I thank you for the prayers, am grateful for your obedience to God. I could not ask others for prayer under my circumstances so God made a way through your ministry and I am so grateful.”

“Thank you and everyone for your prayers. My husband was awarded custody of his daughter last week. Praise God for without him and all the prayers, we wouldn’t have her.”

“Dear Bill, I have pray and confess my sins to the Lord…I’m excited that Jesus is in my life and in my heart…thank you for your daily devotional…i ask of you that i may have some information to help me in my new life with Christ…thank you again and God Bless You! ”

“Brother Keller, Since your devotional on how to lose weight with no pills, just prayer, I have lost 20 pounds! I am eating healthy now, and eating wayyyy less! Thanks for your wisdom.”

“My name is Debbie and I’ve written you a few times with requests of prayer and you have been so good in writing back to me. I have only been a Christian for a year and one half. I used to practice witchcraft and had very bad depression with over 6 attempts at suicide over 7 years. The very moment that I asked Jesus to be my Savior, God swooped down and lifted me out of the dark hole that I was dying in and brought me back to life!!!!!!!!”

“Thank you all for praying that I pass my board exam. Like Bill said, he would be waiting for that praise report and here it is. Thank you all, and thank GOD for everything.”

“DEAR BILL, ABOUT A YEAR AGO I ASKED FOR PRAYER FOR MY COUSIN DOLORES, SHE WAS GOING THROUGH A TRIAL AND HAD TURNED AGAINST THE LORD , THE LORD ANSWERED MY PRAYER, SHE HAS BEEN MADE WHOLE AND COME BACK TO JESUS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND YOUR FAITHFULNESS, THE LORD IS GOOD IN HIS TIME.” “Dear Bill, I have often come to you to ask for your support in prayer but rarely ever come to you to testify to the power of faith in the Lord. I recently wrote to you asking to pray with me to the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ to lead me through a financial endeavor that I was going through with school. Well, very recently, after putting the Lord first in my life telling Him that I wanted Him to go before me and lead me by taking control of the situation, I was able to register for my classes and am enrolled for the upcoming term. GOD IS SOOOOO GOOOOOD! I know I could not get through this endeavor without Him and that it was only through His mercy, His grace, and His love that I did. I want to thank you Bill for praying with me in faith and for allowing God to use you to be a source of inspiration each day.”

“Bill, after I wrote you this morning, I got a phone call an hour later…and I got a job. Working at the children’s daycare at our church. Praise God…and thanks for praying and for your daily message, what a blessing you are.”

“Praise the Lord I have been freed from the sin of homosexually. I thought I was a lesbian or bisexual but found out that it was simply a sin I was fighting (just as I was fighting the sin to steal). I feel so free now that these sins are out of my life.”

“I had just written you not many days ago asking you to pray that our mobile home, in the mountains, would sell. It is sold!! Praise the Lord and thank you for your prayers. We had been praying for over two months and here comes this buyer out of nowhere. ”

“I have written you many times in my journey from “fair weather Christian” to daily follower. I have been married for 9 years and have been in the past “unequally yoked”. I am proud to tell you that I have prayed for the Lord to bring the touch of the Holy Spirit upon my wife and He has. She, myself and our seven year old son now pray together daily at her request and it is having a dramatic and wonderful effect on our marriage.”

“I wrote last week asking for my daughter, Ashley, who was taking a cosmetology test for the THIRD time – she PASSED. PRAISE GOD. Through it all she has come back to church…”

“I wanted to give you a short testimony about your wonderful site on your 5th Anniversary. Five years ago on August 20 I found out my husband of 12 yrs. had been having an affair with a 20 yr old he worked with. He was 32. We had four boys, the oldest was 11, then 7, 2 and a newborn only 4 months old. I was devastated. I don’t know how I found your site, but I know God took me there. A lot of people told me to give up, but I felt God was calling me to be obedient and follow him. I did and now we just celebrated our 17th anniversary! My husband began a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus and is a changed man. So I am thankful first to God, but also to Liveprayer. It was a very important part of making through a very difficult situation. Nothing is impossible with God!”

“Today I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.”

“Bill ,I just had to write to tell You ,God is still in the prayer answering business , Today a contract was signed to sell my house, And we did get the full asking price for it ! May God Bless and Keep you and continue in the work God has called you to do , Praise The Lord ! We will close on the house in about 30 days !”

“I watch your show every night and love it! Your ministry has been there for me when my infant son was killed and through other problems I have had on and off.”

“Thank you for your prayers. We have found a job, a place to live, and a home for our daughter. Thank you Jesus, thank you Live Prayer, and thank you for your faithful ministry.”

I love you and care about you so much. May these praise reports encourage you today that no matter what your problem may be, God is there for you. Also, thanks to all of my dear friends that so faithfully pray for this ministry each day and sacrificially give to keep us here. GOD IS GREATLY USING YOUR LIFE TO BRING HIS HOPE AND LOVE TO LOST AND HURTING PEOPLE WORLDWIDE EVERY DAY BECAUSE OF YOUR FAITHFULNESS AND OBEDIENCE!!!

All praise goes to our great God for His unconditional love for us and his endless grace and mercy. He is worthy to be praised!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

The Misguided Drive for Money Over Souls

(Matthew 6:19-21; Hebrews 13:5; 2 Corinthians 2:17; 1 Timothy 6:10)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, I am a Hospice volunteer that works mostly with elderly people approaching death. Some indicate a visit from the deceased one. Almost all of them express an overpowering wish to be re united with their loved one in Heaven. I never say anything to discourage this desire but in Matthew 22:30 it seems to indicate the people in Heaven will not be married but that our focus will be on worshipping God and the majesty of Heaven . Anything to help my understanding?

ANSWER: First, God bless you and all those who take on this critical ministry. You are correct, we will NOT be married after this life is over. There is also ZERO Biblical support that we will even know one another in Heaven as we do in this life. I know people “feel good” when they hear we will, but our eternal existence that is above and beyond anything we can imagine. The one thing we DO know from Scripture is that we will continue to serve the Lord in some fashion, and we WILL clearly know God and be with Him for all eternity.

The misguided drive for money over souls. I have told you for nearly 14 years now that the insatiable lust for money by many of the leading media ministries not only contributes to the stereotype that people only serve the Lord to get rich, but helps the unbelieving world justify their rejection of Christ.

I hate to say “I told you so,” but how long was it going to be before someone in government decided having multiple multi-million dollar mansions, private jets, new Rolls Royces, and living like the kings of small nations….ALL ON THE MONEY PEOPLE DONATE TO A NON-PROFIT
ORGANIZATION…might be legal but isn’t right. Having operated a non-profit ministry for over 20 years, having been actively involved in the Christian television world for 4 years, and being responsible for raising and overseeing the Liveprayer budget of $500,000 annually, let me give you some of my thoughts and insight into this and challenge you this morning in your giving.

Let me say right up front that there is NOTHING in the Bible that says a man or woman of God is supposed to live in poverty. That is as incorrect as those who teach you are supposed to be wealthy. The Bible says that a servant is “worthy of their hire,” and to “not muzzle the ox that treadeth the corn.” For those who give their entire life to serving God, whose only work is the Gospel, how else are they supposed to live?

Yes, I know Paul made tents, FOR A SEASON. Paul’s ministry also survived on the sacrificial gifts of God’s people that he encouraged to make in many of his letters to the churches he helped found. So this is not about calling God’s servants to live in poverty, but to live modestly. The Bible says to avoid all appearances of evil. There are many sacrifices that you make to serve the Lord, and unless you are personally wealthy outside of the ministry, living an extravagant lifestyle off of those who donate to the ministry is simply not an option. I don’t think anyone objects to their pastor or the head of a ministry being fairly compensated.

This is exactly why Liveprayer operates out of donated space in the back of a used car lot, why I have always made my financial records available to the press, and our most recent audited financials are open to anyone who wants to see them. We own no property, we own no cars, we have no stock portfolios or any other investments. The ministry has literally operates month to month for nearly 14 years. This is also why we are able to use 93 cents of every dollar goes to get the Truth to the masses, be there for the hurting, and lead lost souls to faith in Jesus.

The 6 years we were on TV, I never ONCE asked anyone to send us a dime since being on secular TV, reaching out to a non-Christian audience, I know that the money issue is a huge one in the minds of most non-Christians. I can’t even begin to tell you the thousands of emails I have received from viewers who said I was the only TV preacher they watched because I never asked for money and wasn’t trying to sell them books or tapes.

Listen, I know I have probably gone a bit overboard in trying to be a good steward of the money people donate to Liveprayer and could certainly justify better offices and a legitimate salary, but my goal is SOULS and to take the Truth to this lost and dying world, NOT get rich and live a life of luxury. I’ve made these decisions based on my many years in the ministry and have done everything I could possibly do to distance myself and set myself apart from these other folks since I am trying to build God’s Kingdom, not my own. I am here to serve, not be served. My only goal is SOULS, not to live like the CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

The PTL scandal that was followed quickly by the Jimmy Swaggart scandal in the late 80s were huge blows to the faith. Even today people commonly refer to Bakker and his greed. The funny thing is he wrote a book after he got out of prison called, “I Was Wrong,” denouncing his greed and constant drive for more money. He needs to go back and read his own book, since he is right back into his old habits, now operating out of Branson with his new wife, airing on a handful of Christian stations, and relentlessly hammering people for money again just like nothing ever happened.

I am very familiar with and have worked with most of the top Christian media ministries back in the 90s. I can tell you that every one started out with the purest of motives and a deep desire to serve God. God blesses their work, they started to grow, and one day they woke up and had this huge monster (the infrastructure) that had to be fed. Pretty soon it was not about ministry any longer, but the money.

As more money flowed in, they started to believe they deserved it. They deserved a $10 million home. They deserved a new $30 million Gulfstream. They deserved to stay in $4,000 a night hotel suites when on the road. Satan totally corrupted their minds and money became their god and the ministry was simply their business.

I love you and care about you so much. People harden their hearts even more to the message of Christ because some of God’s messengers have made bad choices with the money God entrusted into their care. I encourage people all the time to pray about where they give some of what God has entrusted into their care. Make sure you know the ministry you are giving to and what the money is being used for.

Yes we are blessed in our giving, but we have also been given common sense in where to give. Know the Bible. Giving money to some ministry is not going to get you out of debt overnight, it is not gong to save your children overnight, and it is not gong to heal you overnight, it is not going to make you rich overnight. If you are “giving to get,” you are giving with the wrong motives. You should be giving as an act of sacrifice and worship, and giving to be a blessing. As a good steward, you should be giving to make an impact for Christ in people’s lives.

That is why each month I have no hesitation in asking you to help me. I don’t play games with you or try to manipulate you in any way. I openly and honestly share our needs and ask you to pray about helping me. The money we raise each month at Liveprayer goes directly to reaching souls for Christ and bringing God’s Truth into the marketplace. I’ve told you many times, the time for playing games is over.

God knows how to clean house when He has had enough. There is not much time left and God is raising up a new generation of voices to carry His Truth who are not bound by money or the things of this temporal world. They can’t be bought like a tube of toothpaste and won’t ever compromise the Bible for any reason. Their only goal is not the applause of men (or the money of man), but the “Well done,” of the Father!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Is There Such a Thing as Karma

(Genesis 1:11; Galatians 6:7-9)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, what does “don`t give pearls to swine” mean.

ANSWER: It means that we don’t need to tell people who have rejected the Truth of the Bible, the Truth of the Bible. That is because their heart is hardened and they don’t want to hear or accept what the Bible says.

Karma originated from the false Hindu religion and has been adopted by other false religions like Buddhism and the various New Age philosophies. It literally means deed or act, and more broadly names the universal principle of cause and effect that governs all life. The basic teaching of karma is that for every event that occurs, there will follow another event whose existence was caused by the first, and this second event will be pleasant or unpleasant depending on whether the first event was pleasant or unpleasant. Karma is a philosophy that has NO basis in truth and to be perfectly blunt, is a load of cow manure.

I have told you over and over how satan is the great perverter. Satan takes the perfect things of God and perverts them. He takes the truth of God and turns it into a lie. The TRUTH from God’s Word where the perverted lie of karma comes from is the law of sowing and reaping. We first read about it in Genesis 1:11. The foundation of the law of sowing and reaping was in agriculture. You plant seed into the ground, and in time that seed will produce a crop. This law of sowing and reaping also translates into our spiritual lives as well. The key passage is from Paul’s letter to the church at Galatia where he tells them, “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life (Galatians 6:8 NIV).

I share with you often how our rebellion to God brings consequences and our obedience brings blessings. When we choose to live our lives in disobedience to God’s Word, when we choose to sin, we are then left to deal with the consequences of our sinful choices. God is not going to bless your sin. However, when we choose to live our lives in obedience to God’s Word, when we choose to obey Him, we reap the blessings of God in our life. It is God’s good pleasure to bless His children, He loves to bless us and it is our obedience that unlocks the blessings of God in our lives. That my freind is NOT karma, it is God allowing the consequences of our sinful choices and the blessings of our obedient choices to occur.

The myth of karma is an attempt to explain what happens to us during our life APART from God. In this perverted lie from satan, God is not part of the process. That fact alone exposes this false philosophy since NOTHING happens in your life, in my life, in this world apart from God. God did not just create the world and then decide to go take a walk and come back and check on things later to see how they were progressing. GOD HAS A PLAN AND PURPOSE FOR EVERYTHING AND NOTHING HAPPENS OUTSIDE OF THAT PLAN AND PURPOSE.

This, of course, raises the question of why do we have all of the evil and horrible things that happen in this world and in people’s lives every day. As we have discussed in the past, the evil in this world stems from the hearts of men living their lives in rebellion to God. God has permitted the evil and sin in this world for these few years in His desire to see all men come to repentance and that none be lost. We know from reading the end of the Book, there is coming a day very soon when God will step in and wipe away this world as we know it and all sin and evil will cease to exist.

One of the key passages in the Bible to understanding the mind God is found in Isaiah 55:8 and 9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD . As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” What God is saying is to quit trying to get into His head because you can’t. We simply do not have the ability to know or even begin to comprehend the mind of God. The fact is, there is no place in the Bible that says we are supposed to.

As humans, we have this insatiable desire to know “why,” and the fact is there are times in our life when we will not get the answer to that question. These are the times when our faith in God must become real and while we don’t know “why,” God has a plan and purpose for everything and we have to trust Him. The interesting thing I see in my life and the lives of others is that we never ask God “why” when good things happen to us, only the bad things. Take a moment and think on that one with me. When was the last time something wonderful happened in your life and you asked God “why?” Probably never. It is almost exclusively when the tragic things happen to us that we are asking God “why?”

I love you and care about you so much. There is no such thing as karma. It is a philosophy born out of the false religions to try and explain the things that happen in our life and is nothing more than a perversion of God’s law of sowing and reaping. Let me tell you something else that doesn’t exist, and that is LUCK. I know I am bursting many bubbles today but luck is a perverted concept of chance that doesn’t exist so take that word out of your vocabulary. The reason karma and luck don’t exist is that they operate apart from God and NOTHING happens apart from God! There is nothing that happens in your life apart from God and that is why we are totally dependent upon Him.

I will be praying for you today. Praying for the Lord to keep you focused on the fact that in this life, God is on His throne at all times. He doesn’t need to take bathroom breaks, He doesn’t need to leave to fix a sandwich, He doesn’t need to take a nap, OUR GOD NEVER SLEEPS NOR SLUMBERS AND HE IS ON HIS THRONE AT ALL TIMES!!! Nothing in this world or in your life happens apart from God allowing it to happen. God allows the consequences you have to deal with from your choices made in rebellion to Him, just like He blesses you for your obedience. That is NOT karma, it is God’s law of sowing and reaping found in His Word.

Your friend and brother in Christ,

The Destructive Nature of Sin

(Proverbs 11:21)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, how do we work out our Salvation with fear an trembling?

ANSWER: It is a daily journey. Once you have made that confession of faith you are saved, but now you must grow in your faith. It is the process of sanctification that begins the moment you are saved and is only finished when you take your last breath and graduate to Heaven. Like anything, it takes hard work to grow as a Christian. Reading the word, praying, being part of a local fellowship of Believers, finding ways to serve the Lord, are all elements we need to work on daily to grow in our faith and become more like the Lord.

The destructive nature of sin is that it does not happen in a vacuum. I hear many say that it is my sin, my problem. Unfortunately, that is not true. When you sin, it is like throwing a pebble into a still pond. There is the initial ring it produces, but slowly, the ring spreads out and it gets bigger and bigger and produces more rings inside it.

The initial pebble may not have been that much, and the initial ring may have started small, but in the end it had grown to encompass a very large area. The point I am trying to make is that sin is not just your problem. At the very least, your sin is against God first, and yourself second. Almost always though, it involves other people that you are either sinning with or sinning against.

I do not have to tell any of you about the pain, heartache, and problems that evolve from our sin. The lives we injure, the lost trust from those we care about. The damages are great. On top of everything else though, we end up missing the blessings of God. God has blessings beyond our ability to imagine for each one of us. He loves to bless His children. But God cannot, and will not bless disobedience.

On top of everything else, your sin is keeping you from enjoying the blessings of God. We are so stubborn, so full of our selves, that we usually try to do things our way, ignoring what God has to say. We accept at best some very little, temporary pleasure from our sin, and miss the greater blessings God has for us if we had been obedient. The Bible tells us, “To obey is better than sacrifice.”

I want to encourage you today to pray about whatever sin there may be in your life today. I want to pray for you as well, for God to strengthen you and give you the courage to walk away from your sins and into obedience to His word. I want to encourage you to leave behind the temporary pleasures of sin for the eternal joy of obeying our Lord.

There is no greater joy than when you are in obedience to what God has asked, knowing that He is proud of you as a father or mother is of a child who is obedient. Being obedient is the ultimate act of a child of God saying not my will Father, but thy will be done. As a believer, our ultimate objective should be to enter heaven one day, and hear God proclaim, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”

I love and care about you so much. Thank you, all of you, for praying for this work. We are seeing God move in people’s lives daily. I am praying for you and believing God for your needs. Never hesitate to email me if I can help in any way. I love you, and never forget it is your prayers and generous support that makes it possible for to minister to literally hundreds of thousands worldwide every day.

May his richest blessings be with you today as we work to become the obedient children God has called us to be.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

If You Know Jesus Christ as Your Savior by Faith You are on the Winning Side

(John 16:33; Romans 5:17; Matthew 16:18; John 12:31)

***ASK BILL: Pastor Bill, my husband is considering purchasing one of those buckets of prepared food to be ready incase of tornadoes, or other type of disaster. Would you consider that wisdom in being prepared or lack of faith in God to take care of us in all situations? Thanks for your insightt.

ANSWER: The Bible clearly teaches us to be prepared. That is primarily speaking of spiritually prepared, however, it is simple common sense to have basic needs like food in case any sort of natural disaster arises. It is not a lack of faith, but an abundance of basic common sense.

Never forget that if you know Jesus Christ as your Savior by faith, YOU ARE ON THE WINNING SIDE! I know most days I am dealing with the real day to day issues of living in this sin-filled and evil world. The message I share with you each day, regardless of the topic is to accept Christ by faith if you have not, and work towards being more like our Lord if you have. In the midst of dealing with all that is happening in our world each day, dealing with the sin we all fight in our own lives, lost at times can be the TRUTH that if you know Jesus Christ by faith, YOU ARE ON THE WINNING SIDE!

I don’t want you to ever forget that what I am doing each day is my best to challenge the lost to make the most important commitment a person can make in this life, and that is to come to know Jesus Christ by faith, while encouraging those who have already made that commitment to fully surrender your lives to the Lord and fulfill His plan and purpose during your brief journey. Satan is not playing games, and is relentless in his pursuit of leading as many as possible into everlasting damnation while doing all he can to destroy the lives and testimonies of those whose souls he can’t have.

This is a very real war for the souls and lives of people and war is never pretty. I realize that each day it may be the only opportunity I ever have to bring the Truth of God’s Word to a person, or reach someone that is battling with the issue I am dealing with on that day. I can’t afford to candy coat the Truth of God’s Word or hold back in challenging people to rise above this world and be all God has called them to be. Time is too short to play games and we have got to be as bold and relentless in bringing the Truth of God to people as satan is in bringing them lies.

Today I want to take this opportunity to let you know that if you know Jesus as your Savior by faith, YOU ARE ON THE WINNING SIDE! I am afraid that truth gets lost at times and needs to be repeated over and over. The fact is, satan has already lost, he has been defeated, his eternal home in the Lake of Fire has already been prepared and where he will be shortly. Sunday night I sat down and watched the DVD of my Ohio State Buckeyes beating the University of Miami Hurricanes 31-24 in double overtime in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl to win college football’s National Championship. It was one of the greatest college football games ever played and there were many times that it looked like Ohio State would lose the game. But I wasn’t worried since I already knew the final score!

Let that precious Truth never be forgotten as you live your life each day. No matter what battles you may be facing, no matter what unexpected things may happen, there is nothing that will ever change the fact that if you know Jesus Christ by faith you are on the winning side. Jesus Christ insured that victory as he shed His precious blood on the cross so that your sins could be forgiven, He insured that victory when He took His last breath and declared “it is finished” and died as that one-time perfect sacrifice for all of those who would believe in Him by faith, and His victory was confirmed when on the third day God raised Him from the grave!

I love you and care about you so much. I know many of you today are dealing with the battles of this life and need to be reminded that you are on the winning side. No matter what it may look like, remember that the victory has already been won and as a follower of Jesus Christ you are on the winning side. There is no such thing as defeat for the child of God. So start fighting your battles with the assurance and knowledge that you have already won. Because of Jesus, you are the victor! Say it with me, “Because of Jesus, I have already won. I will live my life each day like the winner I am. I cannot be defeated because Jesus has already won the victory. I am on the winning side!”

Let me leave you with an additional word of encouragement today. As we have discussed in the past, the “church” is not a denomination or building, but it is all of the people who know Christ as their Savior by faith regardless where they live or what building they worship Him in. The church is not a man-made idea, it is a Christ-made idea. It is still God’s number one instrument of change in this world and will be until our Lord returns. Despite all of the sin and evil in this world and how bad things may be, despite all of the work of satan and those who serve him, despite how those who know the Lord have failed Him at times, the church, God’s people, is still alive and well.

Every day all over the planet people are coming to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ by faith, the Truth of God’s Word is being heard, miracles are being performed, and lives are being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit because of those who are faithfully serving the Lord. Back in the mid-’70s a dear friend of mine Roger Breland, who founded and for 30 years faithfully led the group TRUTH, did the best rendition ever of Bill and Gloria Gaither’s song “The Church Triumphant.” I want to leave you today with the words from the monologue my friend Roger boldly proclaimed thousands of times all over the world in TRUTH concerts. May they be an encouragement to you today as you never forget, if you know Jesus Christ as your Savior by faith, YOU ARE ON THE WINNING SIDE!

“God Has Always Had A People! Many a foolish conqueror made the mistake of thinking that because he had forced the Church of Jesus Christ out of site, that he had stilled its voice and snuffed out its life. But God Has Always Had A People! The powerful current of a rushing river is not diminished because it is forced to flow underground. The purest water is the stream that bursts crystal clear into the sunlight after it has fought its way through solid rock.

There have been charlatans who like Simon the magician, sought to barter on the open market that power which cannot be bought or sold. But God Has Always Had A People! Men who could not be bought and women who were beyond purchase. Yes, God Has Always Had A People! There have been times of affluence and prosperity when the Church’s message was nearly diluted into oblivion by those who sought to make it socially attractive, neatly organized and financially profitable. It has been gold plated, draped in purple and encrusted with jewels. It has been misrepresented, ridiculed, blotted and scorned. These followers of Jesus Christ have been according to the whim of the times elevated as sacred leaders and martyred as heretics. Yet through it all, there marches on that powerful army of the meek, God’s chosen people that can’t be bought, flattered, murdered or stilled. On through the ages they march. The Church, God’s Church Triumphant, is Alive and Well!

Now listen child of God. It’s alive! Discouraged pastor it’s His Church and it’s alive! Lonely Missionary sow your seeds with confidence! It’s alive my broken hearted friend! Old saint you’re not alone and forgotten, the Church is alive! Busy mother cast your cares on Jesus! It’s alive young student. You’re not alone in serving the Lord! Faithful father there’s rest in the Lord! The Church is alive! Cynical skeptic you haven’t killed God with your noisy unbelief. He’s Alive! So family of God raise you hands and praise the Lord. For the Church, God’s Church Triumphant, Is Alive and Well!” (words written and copywritten by Bill and Gloria Gaither)
