The Amount You Give is Not Important

(Luke 21:1-4)

As most people were making their offering from the abundance that they had been blessed with, here came a widow with no wealth, with no possessions, who was just getting by day to day. Yet, Jesus took the time to point out that her offering was greater than the others because she was giving out of her need. How could that be? You see my friend, it was not the greatest offering in the amount that she gave, but it was the greatest offering because of the heart that she gave it with.

The point of this passage today is that the widow gave because she not only had faith that God would meet her daily needs, but just as important, she gave out of obedience and an understanding of how God works. You don’t “give to get.” You give as an act of obedience. You give as a form of worship. You give to bless others, and because you give with a pure heart, God in turn blesses you. Never forget that His blessings come in many forms. Not just in money, but in things like health, safety, daily provision, and many blessings that we simply take for granted.

What I want you to take from this word today is that the amount that you give is not important. It is being obedient to give what God tells you to give! It is the heart and motivations that you give it with. When you give sacrificially, you are saying to God that you trust Him to provide for your needs as He has promised to, and that you are more concerned for others than yourself. Nothing touches the heart of God more than giving of yourself to others, much as He gave His own Son for the sins of this world. God understands sacrificial giving!!!

I love you and care about you so much. Every day I get so many emails from people on the subject of giving. How much to give. Who to give it to. Never forget this. ALL, 100% of what we have belongs to God and is simply on loan to us. So whatever you give, you are simply giving back a portion of what He has entrusted to you for this season. That is why you can’t outgive God, IT IS HIS ALREADY! My counsel is to get alone with the Lord, pray, and let Him give you direction in how much to give and who to give it to, then be faithful to do it and do it cheerfully. HE WILL BLESS YOU FOR YOUR FAITHFULNESS, AND HE WILL BLESS YOU FOR YOUR OBEDIENCE.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

When is it time to Fight

(1 Timothy 6:12)

When is it time to fight? I don’t know too many people who really enjoy a fight. Fighting is something most children do as they grow up, mostly with their siblings. I vividly remember growing up, the oldest of 3 boys, constantly fighting with my little brothers. I started to play sports at 5, and remember many fights with my friends I grew up with over a backyard game of football that at the moment was more important than the Super Bowl. Fortunately as I got older, I realized that fighting really doesn’t solve whatever the problem is, and in most cases only makes it worse. Sitting down and working out whatever differences there were was a much better way to handle problems. However, it takes 2 parties who are motivated to work things out for problems to be resolved peacefully. Sadly, there are times in life when that isn’t possible and you are left with no other option but to fight.

That of course begs the question, what is worth fighting for? Our life. Our family. Our country. Our faith. Today, I want to hone in on fighting for our faith. I often get much encouragement and inspiration from reading about Paul’s life. As you read thru the New Testament, especially the Book of Acts, it is incredible how this man fought for the faith. I am challenged by all Paul personally endured as he fought for the faith. He literally gave his entire life from the moment he met Jesus on the Damascus Road until his work was finished and he was executed for following Jesus Christ. Between those two events, we see one of the greatest examples of fighting for our faith there ever was or will be.

You see my friend, this world that lives in open rebellion to God, His Truth, and Jesus Christ, does not want to be reminded of their sins nor told that when they die they will spend eternity in hell for those sins. Man began to rebel against God his Creator from the very beginning and nothing has changed over these past 6,000 years of human history. The very existence of the children of Israel, God’s chosen people, was often in jeopardy by those heathen people groups who lived in open rebellion to the one true God. God sent Jesus as the Savior for mankind, yet he was not only rejected by the world, but by His own people. For the past 2,000 years, the Christian faith has been under attack by those who rejected Christ, from the Roman emperors in the early days of the church to the governments of this world today.

I contend that one of the main reasons the Christian faith is so weak and ineffective in our world today, especially in the United States, is that people have never really learned how to fight for their faith. We were born in a blessed and unique place and time of human history, a nation founded on its belief in the God of the Bible, the Truth of His Word, and faith in Jesus Christ. For the better part of the 230 years this nation has existed, it was clearly a Christian nation. It really wasn’t necessary to fight for the faith as so many of our brothers and sisters around the world over these past 2000 years have had to. However, over these past 40 years, we have become like the children of Israel. We have turned from God to the false gods and idols of the world. We have fallen into gross sin and debauchery. We are now living in open rebellion to God, His Truth, and Jesus Christ. While this has been happening before our very eyes, Christians who never had to fight for their faith before have sat back and done virtually nothing.

Despite growing up in the church and making a commitment to Christ at age 12, I spent the decade of my 20s like Saul, persecuting God’s church. I wasn’t involved in killing Christians or trying to destroy the church, but in living my life for the temporal pleasures of the flesh and this world, in rebellion to the Bible and Christ, I was doing my part to contribute to the destruction of the faith. I thank God every day that 19 years ago this August, I had my encounter with Jesus in the cell of a Federal Prison. It was at that moment I dedicated the rest of my life to the Lord and began to fight for the faith, a fight I will be engaged in until my work here is finished and God calls me home.

I realized quickly that the real fight for our faith was taking place in the marketplace. It was clear very quickly why the lost world we live in was winning and we were losing, we had abandoned the marketplace many years ago and retreated behind the four walls of the church to safety. We literally left the marketplace to the scavengers of satan. We are responsible for abortion on demand. We are responsible for the mainstream acceptance of homosexuality and gross sexual perversion. We are responsible for the decimation of God’s Holy Institution of Marriage and the family. It is easy for us to blame satan, but the reality is we abandoned the marketplace and left it to satan to have his way.

Let me share with you something I have learned over these past 18 years of fighting for the faith. If I wake up tomorrow and decide I am simply tired of fighting, I’ve done my part for nearly 2 decades now let someone else do it, the world will keep spinning. People will be born and people will die. In the end, God’s plan will unfold. This is about me being faithful to what God has called me to do. You see, I have no other choice. I’ve given my life to Him. God has raised me up in these last days to fight for the faith. When I take my last breath it is not some man I will stand before, but God Himself. He is the one who I will answer to and who will judge me. I will keep fighting for the faith until my work here is over because I have committed my life to serving the Lord.

What keeps me going is the changed lives I see each and every day. People who come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. People who God touches in a miraculous way. Every day I watch the hand of God working in people’s lives all over this world. I also never forget that God never gave up on me. It would have been easy for Him to write me off and let me live a life of rebellion, but He loved me enough to reach out to me and let me know He had a better plan for my life. He has given me a peace and joy that words can’t describe, and despite the battles, the weariness, He has given me a life of abundance I could have never imagine. Not the temporal abundance of this world, but the true abundance of the eternal things of God. That is why I get up each day, put on the armor, and fight for the faith!

I love you and care about you so much. Liveprayer is on the front lines fighting for the souls of men literally 24/7. We have become a huge target for satan over the years because there is nobody on the internet communicating with the vast numbers of people we do around the world on a daily basis. Also, because of the firm Biblical stand I take on the issues of the day, we have made an incredible number of enemies who would love to see Liveprayer wiped off the Internet. We have faced many challenges over the years, but God has always seen us through and we will prevail!

I will be praying for you. I pray that as you have watched me take my stand for our faith each and every day for over 9 years, to boldly and without fear go into the marketplace and fight for the faith, it will inspire you as well. Everyone who prays, everyone who sacrifices to give, is fighting for the faith with me. That is why Liveprayer, with no money, has been around nearly 9 years and has impacted tens of millions of lives around the world for Christ. GOD HAS HONORED OUR SACRIFICE FOR HIM!

Let me encourage you today to rise up and fight for the faith where you live. There is a world around you that is lost, hurting, and souls dying every day and going to hell. There is nothing more precious you will ever fight for since Christ is the only hope for this world and each person. In the end, when your life is over, God will honor you as you hear those words, “Well done thou good and faithful servant!”

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church & have NOTHING to do with Christian faith

(Matthew 7:16)

Fred Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church, and have NOTHING to do with the Christian faith! Years ago when I first heard about a website named, I thought it was a joke. In going through this disgusting website, I began checking out the “church” and “pastor” who put it together. It was disturbing to find out there really was a Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, though it is not affiliated with any Baptist denomination, and a Fred Phelps, the 78-year-old pastor who in 1947 went to Bob Jones University for a few semesters and then to the Prairie Bible Institute, but graduated from neither. He eventually received a law degree in 1962, though he would be disbarred in 1979.

This “church,” while claiming to be Christians and speaking for God, is really nothing more than a hate group. Their main message is to attack the sin of homosexuality. While they quote the Bible and many of the things they say about this sin and God’s judgment for sin are true, they do great damage to the cause of Christ and make it that much more difficult for those who are truly serving the Lord since they offer zero love, zero hope, and never preach the Gospel. Sadly, any time you go into the marketplace and speak out against the sin of homosexuality, non-believers will always label you as being part of Phelps and Westboro.

I had an interesting morning last June. I received a call from the producer of the Bubba the Love Sponge program around 7am. He told me they were having Shirley Phelps, the daughter of Fred Phelps and the media “face” of this hate group, on their program and wanted to know if I would come on and debate her. I am always ready for those type of opportunities and agreed to appear on the program with her. Phelps and their group were in Jacksonville to picket the funeral of a soldier, which has been their primary way in the past few years of attracting publicity. They claim the war in Iraq is God’s judgment on this nation for condoning the sin of homosexuality, which just goes to show you how confused their beliefs are.

Bubba offered Shirley and her group 30 minutes of airtime on his 1 rated program that airs in the Tampa and Jacksonville markets if she would agree not to picket the soldier’s funeral, and she agreed. Knowing that commercials on his program go for apx $700/min, I thought it was a pretty generous offer. She also agreed to take a phone call from “a pastor who disagrees with her group” during her 30 minutes, which of course was me. Here is a link to the audio of our 20 minute chat,

In a situation like this, you really aren’t debating the other person or trying to convince them of anything. Someone like Phelps has her talking points and has been totally brainwashed with her false beliefs and theology, so there is virtually nothing to be accomplished in trying to change what she believes. It is the listening audience that you are speaking to. It is their hearts and minds you are trying to influence. The ultimate goal was to help those listening understand that Phelps and her family did NOT represent Christianity. Despite the fact she can quote the Bible endlessly, she is not preaching the WHOLE Word of God and is no different than any other cult or false religion that tries to use the Bible to justify their beliefs.

The three main points I zeroed in on was the fact Phelps and the Westboro folks had no fruit, no love, and offered people no hope. The Bible states that you know a tree by the fruit it bears. A great way to judge the effectiveness of any work of God is by the fruit they produce. Phelps and her family produce ZERO fruit, a clear sign to anyone that they are not of God. This group also shows zero love. God is love. You can tell people the truth but still do it in love. The message of this group is totally void of any love. Lastly, they offer people no hope. You can call sin sin, but you have to offer the sinner hope. Jesus is the hope for even the most wretched person, but in the false theology of the Phelps, sinners are offered no hope.

I found it interesting that she immediately began to attack me personally, calling me a fool and other names, though admitting she didn’t even know me or anything about my work for the Lord. During the course of our conversation, I also exposed the fact she believes people don’t have the free will to accept or reject Christ, meaning we really aren’t responsible for our salvation and some have no hope at all of being saved. What an incredible lie from hell that is. She also admitted to my amazement that we aren’t supposed to preach the Gospel and lead lost souls to faith in Jesus Christ. I am sure this was lost on most of the listeners, but I found that belief the best case that these people are not of God and are false prophets in every sense of the word.

By the end of 20 minutes, it was evident Shirley was very frustrated with me and had enough. It was probably one of the few times in her life that she has had been in a media setting with someone who could expose her false theology and challenge her Biblically. In most of these cases she makes herself sound like a true spokesman of the Lord because she can quote some scripture, getting away with it because she is dealing with a secular press who is Biblically illiterate. I’ve got news for you, satan quoted scripture also, and like Shirley, out of context to suit his needs and agenda! In nearly 20 years of ministry, I have been in the presence of pure evil on too many occasions. I can honestly say that last June I spoke with a woman who was not some poor confused soul, but a true tool of satan and evil in every sense of the word.

I love you and care about you so much. The Phelps/Westboro hate mongers are a classic example of how you can be correct according to God’s Word about a particular issue, but still not of God. The Mormon cult is in perfect alignment with the Bible on many issues, but is still a cult from the pits of hell since their final authority is not the Bible but the Book of Mormon and the writings of their cults founder Joey Smith. The Muslims are in line with God’s Word on some issues, but not of God since their faith is in a false, non-existent god they call allah and they reject faith in Jesus Christ as the way to be saved. Other cults, false religions, and spiritual beliefs may believe in some things the Bible teaches, but that does not make them of God.

Pray for the Phelps family and those who sadly follow their hate-filled teachings. Pray that they will come to know the Lord and His grace, mercy, and hope. Pray that their influence will be limited so the damage they do is minimized. It is incumbent that we boldly call sin what it is, warn people of God’s coming wrath, but make sure we also share His love and hope and that through faith in Jesus Christ men can escape the eternal horrors of hell and reside for all eternity in a mansion in Glory. My challenge for you today is to examine the fruit of your life often and allow the Lord to use you to bring His Truth, love, and hope to those you meet along your journey each day.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

A 50 Million Year Old Fossil

(Genesis 1-2:3)

A 50 million year old fossil? News broke last week that they had discovered a 50 MILLION year old fossil. Every time I hear one of these stories I cringe, since it only reinforces in the minds of the masses that this world did NOT come into existence the way God, the Creator Himself, said it did in the Bible. It only bolsters the myth generations who have now grown up in schools have been taught, that we “evolved” from a drop of pond scum and that we are little more than a genetic accident with no meaning or purpose.

Of course, to believe there is a 50 million year old fossil means you believe in the scientific dating method used to make that determination. Here is why carbon dating and all other methods used for dating these types of archaeological finds are flawed. When God spoke the earth into existence, it was created in a mature state. Unless you knew the mature age at the moment God spoke the world into existence, it is IMPOSSIBLE for any dating methods to be accurate!!!

There is probably nothing that angers me more than Christians, followers of Christ, who don’t have the guts to stand up for the Truth of the Bible. Believers who feel the pressure of this lost world we live in to compromise the immutable truths of the Bible. A new term we have created to talk about Biblical creationism is “intelligent design.” I get livid every time I hear that word used since we have created it solely for the purpose of being able to share our beliefs on how this world we live in and we came to exist. I submit to you today that “intelligent design” is simply a gutless word for those too afraid to say we believe what the Bible teaches about creation in Genesis 1-2:3!

There are two competing views on how this world and how we came to exist. One is the theory of evolution that suggests over millions of years we evolved. This is the position held by those in the scientific community that reject the notion of “God.” The other view is that there is a Supreme Being, a God who created everything. This is the position people of faith and those in the scientific community who accept the reality of a “God” hold. Let me end decades of arguments on this issue right now and tell you exactly how this world and we came to exist. GOD TELLS US IN GREAT DETAIL IN GENESIS CHAPTER ONE THROUGH CHAPTER TWO VERSE THREE!

My friend, this world and all that is in it, including us, came into existence EXACTLY how the Bible tells us in Genesis 1-2:3! For every child and young adult out there that is in school, your homework assignment today is to read the first chapter of Genesis through the first 3 verses of chapter 2. Now you will never have to wonder or guess again how we came to be or how this world and all that is in it came to exist. GOD SPOKE IT INTO EXISTENCE EXACTLY AS THE BIBLE SAYS! GOD CREATED MAN FROM THE DUST OF THE EARTH AND MADE HIM IN HIS IMAGE EXACTLY AS THE BIBLE SAYS! PERIOD! END OF DEBATE!

First of all, the theory of evolution is just that, a theory. A completely foolish one I might add. Not only have a large percentage of those in the scientific community abandoned it, the only reason it is still taught is because those who reject the existence of God have to have some explanation how this world came to exist and how we came to be. That is why I pity those who champion this theory, since even they have no explanation when you take what they believe back to the very beginning.

They say we evolved from monkeys. As you walk them backwards all the way to the very beginning, you are still left with the unanswered question of where did that first cell come from? It is the same problem those who try to explain the existence of the earth and all that is in it without there being a “God.” You take them back to the very beginning and you are still left with the unanswered question of how did that first event come to be without the involvement of a “God.”

The biggest problems with those who hold to a position that this world, we, came into existence without a “God,” is that it means this is all an accident and we exist by mere chance with no real plan or purpose. If you believe we evolved from pond scum to monkeys, then our lives are utterly meaningless and this life has no purpose to it at all. For those who truly believe this, they are to be pitied among all men. What a sad existence if you go through this life believing you were an accident and your life has zero meaning or purpose.

That leaves us with the position held by those who do believe there is a “God” who created the earth and all that is in it, including us. I spent several semesters in seminary studying all of the various theories put forth to explain Biblically how the Bible could be correct and there could still have been million of years involved in the creation process. Theories that accepted the existence of a “God,” but not exactly how the Bible describes creation.

After many hours alone with the Holy Spirit and God’s Word, I came to one conclusion. THE ONLY ACCOUNT OF HOW THIS WORLD CAME TO EXIST AND HOW WE CAME TO BE WAS GOD’S ACCOUNT IN GENESIS CHAPTER 1! God literally spoke the world and all that is in it into existence in 6 literal days. and this world we live in is less than 7,000 years old!

Here is the problem if you take any other position. Once you start making excuses for what God’s Word says, once you start finding ways for it to say something other than what it clearly and literally says, you are now playing a dangerous game. If the Biblical account of creation is not exactly as God says, what else isn’t exactly as God says?

Did the walls of Jericho really come down the way the Bible says, or is there another explanation? Did the Red Sea really part as the Bible says, or is there another explanation? Did Noah’s ark really exist as the Bible says or is their another explanation? Did Jesus really rise from that tomb on the third day as the Bible says, or is there another explanation? ARE WE REALLY SAVED BY FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST AS THE BIBLE SAYS, OR IS THERE ANOTHER EXPLANATION?

You see the problem? Once you start to doubt one part of God’s Word, you have to start to doubt other parts of the Bible. My friend, you are free to believe whatever you want about the creation of this earth and all that is in it, about how we came to exist. I am NOT going to argue with you. There are many great ministries out there that deal with these issues. There are tons of great books that go into great detail on this subject. I choose to put my faith and belief in God’s Word alone. I believe in BIBLICAL CREATIONISM. This world and all that is in it and we came to exist EXACTLY how God says in His Word!

I love you and care about you so much. One hundred years ago, even those who rejected God and His Word knew that God created the heavens and earth and created them as well. Fifty years ago, those in the scientific community that rejected God was doing its best to propagate this laughable theory of evolution even though the vast majority of people thoroughly rejected it. Now, in 2009 after 40 years of no prayer and Bible teaching in school, having allowed society to take God out of every aspect of public life, those who hold to the Biblical account of Creation are laughed at as narrow-minded mental midgets while those who “know how to think” hold to a theory that says we came from pond scum and makes our life nothing more than an accident with no purpose.

For those who know the Bible to be God’s inspired, inerrant Word, representing Absolute Truth and our final authority in all matters, we have NOTHING to apologize for and nothing to be ashamed of. We certainly have no reason to be trying to hide our beliefs by creating terms like “intelligent design” so we appear to be more intellectual to this nonbelieving world. The fact we are even discussing what is so clear from God’s Word only shows how void of God and His Truth our society has become.

The last thing those who know Chris as their Savior and hold to the Truth of His Word need to be doing is compromising or minimizing the power of that Truth. The world is HUNGRY for the truth we possess. The next time someone asks you how the world came to exist, how we came to be, tell them the answer is exactly as described in Genesis 1-2:3. God Himself tells us the answer and that is good enough for me!

The Battle in the Heavenlies for the Soul of our Nation

(Ephesians 6:12)

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12

The battle in the heavenlies for the soul of our nation. Today, I am going to do something I rarely do, and that is share with you the raw insight of what God has been showing me since the summer of 2007 about the spiritual battle being waged for the soul of this nation. Over these past 10 years, I have, without hesitation, shared with you what the Holy Spirit has shown me no matter what people thought. I empathize with many in the Bible who reluctantly shared what God had told them to tell the people, since in the natural it was going to make them look like fools.

Sadly in today’s world, most high-profile Christian “leaders” choose to play it safe and simply tell the people what they want to hear. Others, “sell for profit,” what they claim God has told them. So we have been left with a generation of Christians, many who have come to the church through the watered-down seeker/purpose-driven/emerging church marketing strategies that compromise the Truth of the Bible and the Gospel, while others follow the prosperity pimps of our day who sell God’s Word like a cup of Starbucks coffee, perverting passages to make false promises of health and wealth.

One thing those who have been part of the Liveprayer family for any time know, I have a nearly 10-year-track record of faithfully writing this Daily Devotional every day. I have never held back the Truth of God’s Word despite knowing that it would cause people to unsubscribe and others to withhold their financial support. If I was doing this for fame and fortune, I would have taken the safe and profitably-paved path most are on and simply gone into the Christian media and targeted those who were already Christians.

Instead, I have gone outside the four walls of the church into the “highways and byways” to bring God’s Truth and the hope and love of Jesus to the hurting and lost masses who will never go to church or be touched by the Christian media. We have the better percentage of two full generations who have never even been to church, masses who will die and end up in hell without Jesus. Most don’t want to hear the Truth and they aren’t going to send in “love offering,” or buy books and tapes, nor come to events. It is not good business to preach to these people, which is why major ministries stay within the Christian trough.

However, God says His desire is that all come to repentance and none be lost. Jesus died for their souls just like He died for yours and mine. These are the people who need the hope and love of Christ more than anyone. So despite the death threats, the never ending personal attacks, the always present financial challenges, I press on to bring His Truth to the marketplace while sharing Christ’s love with those who need real answers and hope in their life.

Ephesians 6 talks about the fact our battle is not against flesh and blood; it is a spiritual battle. God has shown me that there is an incredible battle taking place right now in the heavenlies for the soul of our nation. It is a battle that is very close to coming to an end. The end result will be that our nation either turns from God never to return, or at least one more
time, gets on its knees, repents, turns back to God like the people of Nineveh did, and we will see an outbreak of God’s Spirit and revival like we have never seen before.

If I didn’t believe that this was still possible, I would not be doing what I do literally 24/7/365. I also believe that after 10 years, God’s work at Liveprayer is coming to an end, however, we still have one task left and that is to lead this nation back to God and His Truth and usher in this great revival. It will not only be the culmination of our work at Liveprayer, but my life’s work as well. While we still do all that we do daily to impact millions of lives around the world, my all-consuming passion and focus is on this last task God has given me before He calls me home.

I love you and care about you so much. You can read this today and simply pass it off as another Daily Devotional. I pray that you will take the time to pray for this nation as the battle for its soul is being waged in the heavenlies, and is about to come to a conclusion. We still have several million faithful followers of Christ who have not bowed their knee to Baal and are willing to sacrifice their lives for the Gospel. It is my goal to gather this last days remnant together to take our stand for Christ, make our voice heard, and lead this nation back to God and His Truth.

I can only encourage you today. God has raised up Liveprayer for this moment in human history. God gave me the vision for the Jonah Project last July. It is in place, we are adding people daily, and now it is your opportunity to take
a real stand for Christ. God is calling you today, wants to use you today to help bring revival to this nation. yes, eventfully we will be judged for our sins and wickedness, but I believe we can stay God’s hand of judgment just like Nineveh did.

Over 120,000 souls were saved in Nineveh because they turned to God! I believe that we can see millions repent and turn to God in the wake of this revival. You can keep living your life, taking care of yourself, or you can sacrifice your life and allow God to use you for His glory. When you come to the end of your life, it is not what you did for yourself that will matter, but what you did for God. Read that again. When you come to the end of your life, it is not what you did for yourself that will matter, but what you did for God.

Please pray today about signing up and being part of the Jonah Project, God’s vehicle to lead this nation back to Himself, to His Truth, and millions to faith in Christ. Go to: and watch the 7-minute vision video, get sign up. Also, get this Devotional to everyone that you know and share the link to the Jonah Project with every person you can communicate with. This is the answer for this nation and for millions of people who are looking for answers and hope in their life. The battle for the souls of this nation is not lost yet, and by turning back to God and His Truth it can be won!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Michael Vick was Released from Federal Prison to Spend the Remaining Months at Home

(Genesis 2:7; Job 31:15; Psalm 22:9,10; Isaiah 44:2)

Michael Vick was back in the news as he was released from Federal Prison last week to spend the remaining few months of his sentence on home confinement. In December 2008, former Atlanta Falcon QB and NFL superstar Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in Federal Prison for dog fighting. While he broke the law and is being held accountable for his actions, I couldn’t help but to think of the many abortion doctors in this nation who go to work every day, slaughter innocent babies, and go home at night to their families without ever being held accountable for their actions. Today’s Devotional is a sobering look at where we are as a nation and a people.

In the United States, the life of a dog is worth more than the life of a human being! The nation was riveted and closely followed the story of NFL superstar quarterback Michael Vick in 2008. It came to light that Vick financed and was an active participant in running a dog fighting enterprise. Fighting dogs is illegal in all 50 states. Additionally, hundreds of thousands of dollars were illegally gambled on these dog fights, and what has enraged most people, was the inhumane treatment of these animals including killing them in numerous brutal ways. Vick was not only been linked to financing this dog fighting operation, but gambling on the fights and personally killing several of the dogs who didn’t perform well.

Today, I want to bring a whole new perspective to the Michael Vick story that you won’t hear on the news or read about in the papers. In the United States in the year 2009, it is illegal to kill a dog but legal to kill a baby! Let me say that one more time since I want this FACT to really sink in. In the United States in the year 2009, it is illegal to kill a dog, but legal to kill a baby! WOW! Does that put the whole Vick story in a different light and show just how spiritually bankrupt we are as a nation? Want more? Michael Vick went to prison for 23 months for killing dogs, yet every single day all over this nation, “doctors” are slaughtering 4,000 babies and going home to their families at the end of the day.

Michael Vick was been kicked out of the NFL and went to Federal prison for killing dogs, but the “doctors” who are paid very well to kill over 4,000 babies EVERY SINGLE DAY in this nation are free!

Another aspect of the Vick case that I have watched closely is the across-the-board outrage by people regarding what he did to these dogs. You will be hard pressed to find anyone who even tries to support, let alone, condone what Vick did. It has virtually been a universal response of condemnation for what he did to these dogs. What baffles me is where is that same universal condemnation over the fact we kill 4,000 babies in this nation every day? How can the masses get so riled up over the inhumane treatment and killing of a handful of dogs, yet sit back in silence as every 24 hours another 4,000 babies are slaughtered?

Here is an interesting side note that can’t go unnoticed. PETA, the ultra liberal People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, was front and center in calling for Vick’s hide and exploited the Vick story to raise millions of dollars for their cause. The hypocrisy is that the vast percentage of people who follow and support PETA also support a woman’s right to kill her baby. So you have this animal rights advocacy group who takes every opportunity to bully and intimidate people who have anything to do with animals, all the way from how cows and chickens are slaughtered to the way animals are killed by fast food restaurants to the killing of animals to make fur coats, leading the charge against Vick for fighting and killing dogs, yet this same group supports the killing of babies!

The real story of the sad and sickening Michael Vick dog fighting/killing tragedy is that in this nation we clearly put more value on the life of an animal than we do a human. It is clear that the life of a dog is more important to society than the life of a baby. This is the only conclusion you can draw since it is illegal to kill dogs but not babies, and someone like Vick who is found guilty of killing dogs is going to prison while the “doctors” who kill babies live in freedom. Society has determined that the life of a dog is more important than the life of a baby.

This is so critical since now it is easy to understand why we are in the spiritual abyss we find ourselves in. The Absolute Truth of the Bible has been replaced by “every man doing what is right in their own eyes.” You see, it is no longer God our Creator who determines Truth, each person is deciding that for themselves. That is why people now accept homosexual relationships that God clearly calls a sin, redefining what God said marriage and the family were to be, all of the false gods of the world, and every other form of rebellion to God and His Word that you can name. When men determine what truth is, that is how you end up with the mass outraged over the death of a few dogs, yet no response at all to the daily slaughter of 4,000 babies!

I love you and care about you so much. In nearly 10 years, all of the warnings I have been sharing with you are coming to pass. I remember getting emails telling me I was paranoid, the things I shared would never happen, yet here we are in May of 2009 and this nation is in spiritual freefall. I see a very small window that could allow us to reclaim this great nation for Christ, but with each passing day that window gets smaller.

The nation has turned to the false gods of the world, the man-made idols, and has chosen to live in complete rebellion to God and the Truth of His Word. Most of Christendom has retreated behind the four walls of the church into the “Christian trough” where they have virtually no impact on the world at large. We have relegated ourselves to what amounts to a modern day leper colony. Christians have become the 21st century lepers. We are treated like outcasts. Despite having the power of Almighty God, we have chosen to hide in our Christian subculture while the world we live in is sinning its way into obliteration with souls dying and going to hell on conveyor belts!

Nothing more exemplifies this than the Vick case. Let me clearly state that I believe those who treat animals in an inhumane way should be punished. Dog fighting is a barbaric sport that should be against the law. Those who kill dogs for sport should be prosecuted. I don’t feel sorry for Michael Vick at all and whatever he got he deserves.

However, the point I want you to understand today is that as heinous and horrible as Vick’s actions were, the disconnect comes when heinous and horrible acts on a human being are not only legal, but supported by millions of people. Many of the same people who have gone ballistic about what Vick did to a few dogs, go equally ballistic if you talk about outlawing the killing of babies.

If you ever needed a reminder regarding the depth of spiritual decay in this country, the Michael Vick case is that reminder. The reality is that in this country, the life of a dog is more precious than the life of a baby! God have mercy on us all.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

The Biblical Case for War

(Deuteronomy Chapter 20)

The Biblical case for war. As we have been engaged in war against those who would love to destroy our nation, the debate continues as to whether war is a proper response. The proponents of “peace without war” use the Bible as their key defense of their position, even though many in the “peace without war” movement are avowed atheists and find the Bible to be little more than a book of stories. Interestingly, these same people run to God’s Word to defend their views.

However, many Christians also adopt this view of “peace without war”. I realize that this is a very divisive issue, and my goal is never to divide, but unite the Body of Christ. However, I cannot shy away from the tough issues, and ultimately we all must find peace on each issue, not in our own thoughts and ideas, but from the Word of God. That MUST be our final authority in ALL matters. Please pray as you read these words today.

To properly discuss war from a Biblical perspective, we have to understand the theological context from which war exists. God created man in perfection. Man was perfect, never to die. The creation God made for man to exist in was perfect. However, man’s sin changed all of that. We have to understand that war is a byproduct of man’s sin. God did not create war. God does not approve of war. God even prevented David, a man after His own heart, not to finish the Temple because he was a man of war.

War stems from man’s sin and became part of the human condition from the very beginning. Because of man’s sin, because of the sin that is in every part of our world, until God brings this world as we know it to an end, war will ALWAYS be part of the human experience. THERE WILL BE NO PEACE UNTIL THE PRINCE OF PEACE HIMSELF RETURNS!!!!

We are then faced with this situation. War is a result of man’s sinfulness. It will be part of this world until Christ returns and God brings this world as we know it to a conclusion. The question becomes, what is the proper response of a Christian to war. We all know that one of the 10 Commandments is “thou shalt not murder”. War involves killing. On the surface, the issue seems to be pretty simple. As Christians, we should not be involved in war since it involves killing. However, God Himself, ordered His children to war and specifically ordered them to kill on many occasions. This seems to be a gross contradiction. No matter what anyone leads you to believe, the Bible does NOT contradict itself…EVER!!

The 10 Commandments were given to people, to individuals. In every case where God ordered His people to war, it was against an enemy who had no desire for peace, had no desire to settle their disputes amicably, and actually had the goal of destroying God’s people from the face of the earth. War became a defensive measure against the destruction of God’s people. There are many examples I can use, but does anyone think Adolph Hitler would have been stopped had it not been for the military effort that defeated his armies?

When studying the Bible, context is critical. When studying the Bible, taking the whole counsel of God into consideration is vital to properly understand it. That is why I share often that you have to read the entire book so you get a feel, an understanding for the nature of God. There is no doubt God is a God of peace. Peace was the perfection into which we were created. However, God is also a God of judgment, and often, God uses His people as instruments of His judgment.

We can never know completely the mind of God, or fully comprehend His plans, but it is clear in reading the Bible God often used His people in acts of war to preserve them from destruction. He also used His people to exercise judgment on those who were the enemies of God, and further His plan that all who would believe might know the gift of everlasting life through their faith in Him.

That brings us to today and our current situation. As Christians, how should we respond to the fact our nation is involved in war, which includes the killing of innocent men, women, and children. This of course, is the key argument of those who say we should not be involved in war, since innocent people will die. It is impossible to understand this issue without accepting God and His plan. It is impossible without accepting the Bible as God’s inspired, inerrant Word. You must realize that life is everlasting.

This time here on this earth is but for a brief few years. In light of eternity, whether we live 1 day, 1 year, 10 years, 20 years, 50 years, or 100 years, really makes little difference. Our purpose is NOT to see how long we can live, but find our faith in Christ and fulfill our God-given purpose to serve and glorify Him with whatever time we do have. The fact is, we all will die. Some through natural causes in old age. Some by disease. Some by accidents. Some through war. Regardless of how, we ALL will die one day. Which is why I try to remind you often, tomorrow is promised to nobody. We must treat each day like the gift from God it is. That is why the Bible says “today is the day of salvation”. You may not have the chance to repent and come to know Christ tomorrow.

It is very sad that people are dying from this conflict we are in. But the fact is, over 3,000 innocent people died on U.S. soil on September 11th. The fact is, people in this world die each day because of wars between nations and people who disagree with each other on a wide array of issues. That is why we must all do our part each day to share the love and hope we have in Christ so that people worldwide have the opportunity to accept Him by faith so their eternal home with God is insured.

My personal belief through the study of the Scriptures is that God hates war, but allows it much like He allows other evils born out of the sin in our world. Romans 8:28 tells us that “ all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Does God enjoy the evils that exist in this world due to sin? NO!!! Never forget that God is ALWAYS on His throne and always in control. Nothing happens that God does not allow. He can take the evil of man, and use it to fulfill His plan and purpose.

Also, don’t forget that while we look at events in relation to time, God is not bound by time and the events of this world are but a blip in eternity to Him. One day, very soon, God will step in and bring to a conclusion this world as we know it. In the meantime, because of sin, there will always be evil and the byproducts of evil. However, God will always use events, even horrible events to further His plan and purpose for man to know Him by faith.

***We as a nation have every right, and even responsibility to defend ourselves from those who would destroy us. Much like the children of Israel had a right and responsibility to defend themselves from those nations that would try to destroy them, there are evil forces in this world who would love to see the United States cease to exist. Thankfully, our forefathers understood this and defended our country to their death so that we could enjoy the great freedom and liberty we enjoy today. It is now our turn to defend this nation from its enemies to insure that our children have the same freedoms should the Lord tarry in His return.

God has used our nation in a great way in the fulfillment of His plans and purpose. Should we continue to honor Him, and glorify Him as a nation, I have no doubt that we will continue to be part of His plan. That is why I am sure God will be with this nation in this war on terror, since we are simply defending ourselves from people in the world who would see us destroyed. *People who have no desire for peace!

I love you and care about you very much. I realize out of the over 2,400,000+ who get this Devotional worldwide, many will disagree with what I have said today. All I can do is implore you to dig into the Scriptures. Read throughout the Old Testament those passages that involve wars. Be careful in many of the passages both in the Old and New Testaments, to insure the context of the passage is referring to individuals or to nations. There are many places God is speaking directly to nations, and others, where He is clearly speaking to individuals. I know that there will continue to be division on this issue.

The fact is, no matter how you feel, war is with us until God decides to bring things to an end. There will be no real peace, until the Prince of Peace returns. As a nation, we must defend ourselves from those who would destroy us. But in so doing, we must insure that we remain a nation that honors and serves the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. As individuals, we must get serious not only about cleaning up our own lives, but doing so in order God can use us to minister to the lost and hurting. I believe deep down time is very short. We must take advantage of whatever time is left do be about our Father’s business.

May God continue to richly bless the United States, and all the nations of the world that honor Him. May God bless and instill wisdom in our leaders. May God bless and protect the men and women of the armed services from all the nations who support us in this action to rid the world of terrorism. May God bless those people who will be caught in the middle of this conflict, and may they find peace as they look to Him for comfort. Lastly, may God pour out His love to those who have turned their hearts against Him, that they may know His love and by faith receive the gift of everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller
