Ten Years of Liveprayer

(John 3:16, 14:6, 15:5)

Ten years of Liveprayer! It is easy on a day like today to reflect back on these past 10 years. Since that time, Liveprayer has become by far the world’s largest interactive Christian website, ranked in the top 20 out of 117 million prayer sites by Google. We helped to pioneer live video on the Internet. We’ve sent out just under 3700 Daily Devotionals that began going out to a handful of people and are now are received by over 2.4 million people worldwide every single day. We have received and responded to over 70 million email prayer requests. We have accumulated a Praise Report archive with over 4 million testimonies of God’s faithfulness.

We’ve broadcasted the uncompromised Truth of God’s Word and the fact Jesus is the ONLY way on 1645 “live” TV programs on major secular network TV stations, seen by millions of people in Florida and around the nation since it debuted in March of 2003. Most important of all, just over 300,000 souls we know of who have come to faith in Jesus Christ through Liveprayer!!!

All of this has been made possible over these past 120 months by the dozens of faithful prayer hosts who manned the “live” video feed on the Internet each day, the wonderful group of over 700 retired pastors nationwide who help me get personal responses back to every email we receive for prayer, my head tech Mike and his team who keep the Liveprayer.com Internet site operational 24/7 despite the never-ending attempts from all over the world to stop our work (we’ve been down less than 48 hours TOTAL in 10 years), and the crew who physically sorts thru the 40,00 incoming emails we receive each day.

It has all been made possible by my bookkeeper and her staff, my personal assistant Susan, the men and women who faithfully work on my TV crew each night, the Board of Directors of Bill Keller Ministries who oversee the ministry and are my counsel and the ones I am accountable to, and my precious wife Nan who has literally sacrificed her life these past 9 years. Without her love, 100% support, and daily sacrifices I would have never been able to give my life so completely to the Lord’s work here. It has been the faithfulness and dedication to God’s work by all of these dear people literally 24/7 that has made Liveprayer possible for millions of people all over this world each and every day without fail for these past 10 years!

Of course, ALL honor, glory, and praise goes to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Jesus said, “Without me you can do NOTHING!” That powerful reminder from John 15:5 is on the mirror in my bathroom and the first thing I see every morning. I have been most blessed of men to be given the honor and privilege to serve our Lord in such a meaningful way each and every day. It was literally 19 years ago this month that I sat in a Federal Prison cell and rededicated my life back to Christ and finally gave the Lord the one and only thing He ever wanted from me, and the one and only thing He ever wants from you…my life completely, fully, and wholly surrendered to Him!

Whatever has happened at Liveprayer these past 10 years is NOT because of Bill Keller, it is because of Jesus Christ. Bill Keller is simply a vessel God has chosen to use at this moment in human history in the fulfillment of His overall plan and purpose. All I did was give my life completely to the Lord and surrender myself to whatever His will for me is each day. I spent nearly 10 years PRIOR to the start of Liveprayer doing my best to serve and follow God faithfully. Whatever Liveprayer has become after these 10 years, is the result of serving and following Christ obediently and faithfully for over 18 years. It was God who has called me to do what I do today and I am simply doing my best to follow His voice as I walk by faith each day.

While today is a day for reflection, I am very thankful for all that God has allowed us to do for Him here at Liveprayer over these 120 months. However, my focus is not on yesterday but dealing with today and tomorrow. As incredible as these past 10 years have been, I know deep down in my heart we are only scratching the surface of the impact we can have in this world for Christ and in the lives of literally billions of people who live on this planet. I truly believe that we are in the last days, that Jesus is coming at any moment, and that we have the privilege of helping to bring in that last great harvest of souls before the final chapters of human history play out. God has allowed us to marry the two greatest communication tools man has ever known, television and the Internet, to reach the lost and hurting masses throughout this world.

It is because of what we have done these past 10 years that I have the incredible passion for what we can do in the years to come should Jesus tarry. What drives me each day is the fact that I know Jesus may return at any moment, that tomorrow is promised to none of us and I need to be faithful each day to the work God has called me to do, and that every second of every day someone is dying and going to hell that could be in Heaven if we had been able to reach them with the hope of Christ. Thru the internet and secular television, we have the ability to reach the lost and hurting masses and not only help them find real answers in their hour of need, but the eternal hope we have in Jesus Christ.

Seeing the lost won for Christ is what I have given my life to do. With every waking moment, every breath until God calls me home, my only objective and goal is to reach the lost with the Gospel. That passion, that drive, that determination has not waned over these past 120 months, it has intensified. I refuse to let the personal abuse I take each day stop me. I refuse to let the continual threats on my life stop me. I refuse to let the daily challenges of living in this fallen world stop me. I refuse to let finances stop me. I refuse to let anything keep me from giving the Lord everything I have every day. I know that I fall short every day, fail the Lord every day, but I am thankful He knows my heart. Jesus gave His very life for me, how can I give Him anything less?

I LOVE YOU AND CARE ABOUT YOU SO MUCH! I really mean that each day! The greatest joy of all these past 10 years is this new family God has blessed me with. Every day I cry with those in the Liveprayer family who lose those they love, and I rejoice with those in the Liveprayer family as they bring new life into this world. I remember today the many dear and faithful friends who have been part of Liveprayer over the years, many who helped lay the foundation for God’s work here who have gone on to their rewards in Glory. I also am excited by all the new additions to the Liveprayer family as they grow up to become the men and women of God He has called them to be.

It has been a privilege to stand with so many young adults as they have gone thru high school, college, started their first job, and gotten married. I’ve been honored to stand with those in the Liveprayer family who have lost their job, gotten new ones, faced health issues, struggled with their finances, gone through a divorce, had legal issues, bought and sold homes, moved, dealt with children and grandchildren living apart from the Lord, those how have battled with different addictions, and all the rest of the daily challenges we face along our journey through this life. I’m grateful to be here each day to help bear your burdens. It’s an honor to speak to people about God, it’s an even greater honor to speak to God for people.

All I can say in closing is THANK YOU! Thank you for your love. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for your financial support of God’s work her at Liveprayer. I tell you often that without you there would be no Liveprayer. That is true. YOU make this all possible each day for millions of lost and hurting people worldwide. Your love and prayers and gifts have made an eternal impact in the lives of millions of people around this planet. Please continue to pray for me and for all those who labor here so faithfully each day to make this all possible. For those who God leads and have the ability, please continue to prayerfully give as the Holy Sprit leads you as we meet our financial needs.

I’m looking forward to the day my work here is complete and I am able to go to Heaven and hopefully catch up on some sleep. I know that at some point, there will be a great reunion of all those people who were part of the Liveprayer family. It is such an honor and great joy of mine each day to be able to actually meet those who are part of Liveprayer. Sadly, I know that I will never get that opportunity to shake hands and give a hug to the vast majority of those in the Liveprayer family during this life. So I look forward to that day in Glory when we will all be together.

In the meantime, God still has much for us to do. While it would be easy and tempting to sit back and be content with what we have accomplished these past 10 years, we can’t because there is still too much work left to do. The Jonah Project is a calling by God to help lead this nation back to God and Biblical values. So it is time to keep pressing on towards that prize, being obedient and faithful each day to serve and follow the Lord, and declare to this lost world the Truth of God’s Word and tell the lost of the eternal hope they can have in Jesus Christ. May God continue to pour out His favor and blessings on Liveprayer as we remain faithful to our calling!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

I Want to Give Parents Out There Some Encouragement Today

(Proverbs 22:6)

I want to give parents out there some encouragement today. Often we get to a point where we wonder if anything we are doing is really making a difference. Let me assure you, the most important job God has given you to do is laying a spiritual foundation in the lives of your children. I know many of you have been diligent in getting your kids to church, involving them in activities at church, teaching them at home how to pray, the importance of the Bible, and talking to them about Jesus.

That great promise in Galatians 6:9 tells us that if we aren’t weary in well doing, we will one day reap. We are so used to this day of instant gratification, that we may forget that the things of God happen in His timing and not ours. We may not be able to see the immediate affect in our kids lives, and even more disappointing, may watch them actually turn away from the Lord as they get older.

Can you imagine how disappointed the father in the story of the Prodigal Son must have been when his own son wanted to get his inheritance and leave home? This father had the wisdom to know that God gives each of us free will to make our own decisions, and there will come a time when our children must make choices for themselves. He also had the faith in God to trust Him to watch over his son. Lastly though, He put his faith in God’s word that promised him that the spiritual foundation he laid in his son’s life would sustain him in the dark moments of that young man’s life.

Let me just interject a personal note here. In my darkest hour, having watched my world destroyed before my very eyes, ending up in Federal Prison, it was the spiritual foundation my parents laid in my life that sustained me, and upon which I was able to rebuild my life (
http://www.liveprayer.com/TMony.html ). Mom’s and dad’s….it works, I am a living testimony.

The key point today is don’t get frustrated, don’t get angry at God when your kids aren’t doing what they should, just keep being faithful to lay that spiritual foundation in their life each day. There is no greater gift you can give your children, there is nothing you will do for them that will have a greater impact upon their life. Don’t forget, the most important decision any of us make in this life is about our eternal destination. The spiritual foundation you lay in the lives of your children gives them the opportunity to one day make that personal decision to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts by faith.

No one has a greater impact on them than you, since each day they will make hundreds of decisions. Those decisions are influenced by their environment, what they are taught, and how they see you act in your daily life. I will be in prayer for you today to re-commit yourselves today to taking the job God has given you very seriously. THERE IS NO GREATER JOB HE HAS GIVEN YOU THAN LAYING A SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION IN THE LIVES OF YOUR CHILDREN.

I love you and care about you so much. I realize that your children are your life, as they should be. Trust God’s Word today, and know that the efforts you make in raising up your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord are not in vain. One day, maybe after you have gone on to be with the Lord, those efforts will bear fruit. As I say often, you can not control the actions of another human being.

But as parents, you have the best chance of influencing the lives of your children, planting seeds that will be there for the rest of their days on this earth. Be diligent about the work God has given you to do, than pray, trusting God that He will do the rest. I will stand with you in prayer today for your children. The only one who loves your children more than you do is God Himself.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

A Few Months Ago, the Internet was Hit with Several Major Viruses

(Mark 4:35-41)

A few months ago, the Internet was hit with several major viruses that affected millions of users worldwide, took down the mail servers of many smaller ISPs, and cost tens of millions of dollars in damage to computers, loss revenues, and employee down time. Sending out the Daily Devotional to over 2 million email accounts worldwide each day, receiving over 40,000 prayer requests by email daily and sending a personal response to each one, Liveprayer literally operates 24/7/365. Issues like viruses, hackers, and the myriad of technical problems on the Internet are things that we have to contend with each day. It is simply part of being in that world.

Another issue that I have to deal with each day are people in the world that simply hate God, reject Jesus Christ, and think of the Bible as a book of fables. In addition to the over 2 million that receive the Devotional directly, it is posted on Liveprayer.com every day, on about 100 other websites that we have given permission to, and forwarded by our subscribers to another 2-3 million daily. Obviously dealing with the real life issues that I do, taking a Biblical stand on those issues upsets many people who read what the Holy Spirit leads me to write each day.

One of my main goals each day is to share the hope and love of Christ with the lost and hurting of this world. We have been successful in doing that both here on the Internet each day and 5 nights a week LIVE on secular television. But one of the prices you pay in taking the truth of God’s Word to this lost world is the hateful mail and emails many send. I know that God is watching over me and I fully realize that these people are lashing out at God, not at me.

Add to the technical issues, people that are hostile to the work of God, you also have the financial demands that have to be met, problems in the lives of those who work in the ministry, plus the endless list of daily problems that come out of nowhere. ALL OF THESE THINGS CAN BE A DISTRACTION TO DOING WHAT GOD HAS CALLED ME TO THAT DAY!

You see my friend, one of the things that we MUST do to live a victorious life in Christ, is to keep our focus on HIM at all times. As long as you keep your eyes focused on Jesus, you will be OK despite what the circumstances may be. The reality of this life is that we will ALWAYS have problems. There is no way to live this life without dealing with the day to day problems of life. It is inherent to living in this sin-filled world. But we can never let the problems of this life distract us from what God has called us to do. No matter what, we must always keep our eyes focused on Jesus.

I love you and care about you so much. It hurts me to know that in facing the daily problems of life, many of you have allowed those distractions to keep you from being all God has called you to be. They have kept you from serving Him in the capacity that He has asked you to serve Him. That means you are allowing the distractions of life to keep you from fulfilling your purpose which is to serve and glorify Him with your life.

When we are fulfilling our purpose in life, THAT is when we can know the true joy, the true peace, the abundance that this life can offer. I know many of you today are having major problems with your health, with your job or school, with your finances, with your marriage or other relationships, and with many other very real and pressing issues. I want to encourage you today to not let anything distract you from what God has called you to do for Him today.

I will be praying for you today. Praying not only for the needs in your life, but that God uses this word today to help you not be distracted in your service to Him by what is happening around you. Our purpose is to serve Him, and we can never let anything distract us from fulfilling that purpose. Too many people are like the disciples in today’s passage of scripture. They are focused on the storms in their life instead of on the One who can calm the storms. The Bible teaches that if we will be about our Father’s business, He will be about ours. Stay focused on Jesus, and don’t let anything distract you from what He has called you to do with your life.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Immutable is One of Those $5 Theological Words that Describes an Attribute of God

(Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8)

Immutable is one of those $5 theological words that describes an attribute of God. It is one of those attributes that allows us to keep our faith and trust in Him daily. It simply means “without change”. That is why we can boldly say that the same God who brought you through the storm 3 months ago is the same God who will bring you through the storm today. He doesn’t change. That is why we can have confidence each day that God loves us. He doesn’t change. It is the fact that God never changes that gives us the ability to go to John 1:9 when we sin and KNOW that He will forgive us and cleanse us. Part of the foundation of our faith is this wonderful truth that GOD NEVER CHANGES.

The point I want to focus on today, however, is that WE do change. Living in Florida these last 5 years, my wife and I often get away for a few hours and drive just a few miles from our home to the Gulf of Mexico. We often sit and talk, watching the tide roll in and out. I think how our lives are like the tide. Always moving, always changing. The challenge I want to give you today is this.

Take a few minutes and get alone in a quiet place. Get some paper and a pen. Make a list of the following categories. DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST – CHURCH FELLOWSHIP SERVING GOD, SPOUSE (if applicable), CHILDREN (if applicable), MOM, DAD, BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND (if applicable), FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS, SCHOOL/WORK, FINANCIAL, HEALTH, RECREATION/HOBBIES, BONDAGES (such as alcohol, drugs, pornography, gambling, etc.). Now in each category, simply jot down notes as to where you were in this area 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago, and where you are now. Be honest, this is between you and God.

The point of this exercise will be apparent very quickly. WE change. We are not immutable. Unfortunately, much of our change is for the worse and not the better. It doesn’t happen overnight, but over a period of time, just like the tide that slowly rolls in. It isn’t even something we notice most of the time. Looking over your paper when you are done will clearly focus you on those areas of your life that you need to work on and make some changes in.

This may seem like a waste of time, but trust me, God is speaking to you loud and clear as you read these words. He is trying to get your attention. The 10 minutes it will take you to do this can be the difference between your relationship with Christ being all it can be or having little life in it. It can be the difference between a better marriage or divorce. It can be the difference between having good health, or constant battles in that area. I am not trying to be over-dramatic, but the way we change over time, the subtle ways we change without even being aware of it, can lead to many of the problems you are dealing with today. These could be some of the most profitable minutes ever as the Lord reveals to you those areas of your life that need to be worked on.

I love you, and I care about you so much. I realize many will resist this exercise for many reasons. Ultimately, though, it is because the enemy will try to stop you from having to face in black and white those things in your life that need changing. We get comfortable in our lives, even when they aren’t the way they should be. We get comfortable living with sin. It is like having a mouse in your house.

You can’t catch it, and it may even get to a point where you will try and live with it. My friend, it is time for a Holy Ghost extermination of those things in your life that shouldn’t be there. The only thing keeping you from all the wonderful blessings God has for your life is YOU. I will be praying that you will take the time to pray, put your life on paper, see those areas where you have moved away from God, and give yourself a real and precise focus.

I talk about game plans as a way of overcoming sin in our life. Once you complete this, you will then have identified those areas that need work, The next step is to formulate a game plan in order to get where God wants you to be in every area of your life. It won’t be easy. It won’t happen overnight. But over time, working faithfully daily and in the strength He can supply, you will see victory.

We can be thankful today that our God NEVER changes. We do. Now is the time to see the areas of our life that need to be changed for the glory of God!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Being Bombarded by Problems and Evil that Exists in our World

(Deuteronomy 8:10; Psalm 100:4, Psalm 107:22)

You cannot turn on the news or pick up the newspaper without being bombarded by all of the problems and evil that exists in our world. Each day you are confronted by family members, friends, those you work with or go to school with, that are hurting and going thru a difficult time in their life. Ninety-nine percent or better of the over 40,000 prayer requests that come into Liveprayer every single day are people who are in pain, fighting the battles everyone fights during the course of their life. The fact is, we are all dealing with problems every day, that is simply part of life.

The worst thing that can happen is when we allow our problems to overwhelm us to the point we forget to be thankful to God. Never forget, no matter what your problems may be today, without God you would have no hope. He is your source of strength when you feel like you can’t go on. He is your source of encouragement when you don’t see any answers. He is your source of hope that tomorrow will be better than today. It is God who loves you when nobody else does, and it is God who will never leave you when everyone else has. In the midst of whatever your battles may be today, don’t forget to simply say, “Thank you God!”

I know this message today may seem very elementary, but it is amazing how when we are under the pressures of daily life, we can often forget the most basic truths. No matter what may be going on in our lives, God deserves our thanks because of who He is. He is God! He is the Creator of the heavens and earth. He is OUR CREATOR! He loves us unconditionally and cares about us so much. He has given us so many wonderful and special promises in His Word that we can count on. So never let the cares of this brief life keep you from taking the time each day to thank Him.

I realize as you read this, you may be facing a serious health issue, or your marriage may be in trouble, or you are dealing with a huge financial problem, or you need a job, or someone you love has recently died, or you are battling with some sort of addiction, or a myriad of other problems. It doesn’t matter what your problems may be. Take a few minutes right now, forget about your problems, and simply focus on God. Now, say THANK YOU GOD! Say it again. Again. Again. Tell God you love Him. Tell God you worship and adore Him. Forget about everything else for a few moments and simply concentrate on God and thank Him!!!

Listen, thanking God is not going to make all of your problems go away. What it will do is bring joy to your heart, peace into your life, and give you a renewed sense of hope as you face the day to day trials life may bring your way. Facing your problems, dealing with your problems become 100 times easier. You get blessed when you thank God! By getting so wrapped up in your problems and not taking the time to thank God you are missing blessings.

I love you and care about you so much. I am guilty so often of not taking the time I should each day to simply stop what I am doing and just spend some time thanking God. It is so easy to focus on what is wrong with our life, that we often forget how much is right with our life. We get so bound by our problems that we forget the simple act of saying thank you to God. Without Him, there would be no answers, no solutions to our problems and this life would have no purpose and be meaningless and hopeless.

I will be praying for you today. Do me a favor. No, do yourself a favor. Stop whatever you are doing right now. Take the next 3 minutes. That is 180 seconds. Use those 3 minutes to do nothing else but say thank you to God. Thank Him for His love. Thank Him for all the wonderful blessings He bestows on you each day. Thank Him for caring about you. Thank Him for all that He does for you each day. I can assure you that you have MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR! Take the next 3 minutes and spend it thanking God.

The Bible only gives us a brief glimpse of what our eternal existence will be like. One thing we know is that we will be worshipping God our Creator. Now is a good time to start doing that. Each day, we must take time out of our busy lives and simply spend it thanking God. We will always have problems in this life. That is simply a fact of living in this dark and evil world where so many people live their lives in rebellion to God. But the Bible tells us that when this brief journey is over, “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Make sure that no matter what your problems may be, that you never forget to take the time each day to say thank you to God!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

We Live in a Society Where being Beautiful is Such an Incredible Asset

(Psalms 49:14)

It is amazing to me, how we live in a society where being beautiful is such an incredible asset. Women who have been blessed with natural beauty have incredible advantages in most areas of life. Because of the importance our society places on beauty, it has become an all-consuming drive for too many. In recent years, this has now also become a very big issue for many men. The problem with chasing beauty, is the same problem people who crave money have. It is an unquenchable thirst that can never be satisfied.

There will always be someone who is more beautiful, more perfect. This drive to be beautiful powers multibillion dollar a year industries like cosmetics, clothing, hair, and cosmetic surgery. There is an insatiable drive to be beautiful that many women chase throughout their entire lifetime. This is a problem not only for women who are without Christ, but also for women who know Jesus as their Savior. In many cases it is actually a sin since it takes priority over a person’s relationship with Christ.

We have all heard many times that beauty is only skin deep, and true beauty is what is on the inside, not the outside. That sounds good, and is actually true. But in reality, it is not how we live.

Let me say right here, that men are as much to blame for this problem as women are! Men have put incredible pressure on women to look a certain way, to be beautiful at all times. If men were as concerned about a woman’s inner beauty as her outer beauty, I believe women would not be as fanatical as many are to be “beautiful.” This problem must be addressed by men as well as women.

Of course, the answer to this problem lies in the realization by women and by men of who we are in Christ. We are new creations, beautiful in God’s sight, not because of our outward appearance but because our hearts have been cleansed and sin washed away. It is amazing how we can get consumed by something like beauty during these short years we have this life. These clay bodies we are using for this time came from the dust of the earth and will one day return to the dust of the earth. I hate to be so blatant, but that is exactly what we are trying to make and keep beautiful.

Listen, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to look nice, have a good appearance, and maintaining ourselves the best we can during this life. As a matter of fact, I believe the Lord wants us in good shape, looking our best so that we can be the best servants for Him possible during this life. The problem though is the insatiable consuming desire for beauty that this society has pressured many women into trying to attain and maintain. If the same effort went into our service for Him, it would be incredible all the additional work for the Kingdom that would be accomplished!!!

I love you and care about you so much. I want to encourage you today to honestly ask God today if you are putting too much emphasis on your outward appearance, and not enough on your inward relationship with Him each day. I love you and pray for you, and have never even met most of you. I love you because the Lord has placed love in my heart for you, not because of what you look like, but because of who you are. His creation, someone He loved enough to send His son to die for, someone He loves and cares for.

God loves you not because of what you look like, but because you are His child! Let that truth take hold in your heart today, and go forward knowing you are truly beautiful in God’s eyes. Would you rather be beautiful to a world that will one day not exist, or to your God who you will be spending eternity with? Make sure your drive to be beautiful is in God’s eyes first.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Muslim Girl from Ohio Converts to Christianity then Flees to Florida in Fear of her Life

(Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

Fathima Rifqa Bary is a 17-year-old Muslim girl from Ohio who converted to Christianity and fled to Florida in fear of her life. I praise God the courts in Florida have allowed her to stay, since we have already seen a rash of “honor killings” on US soil in recent years. Remember the Muslim man in Buffalo who decapitated the his wife for wanting a divorce? Or the Houston cab driver who shot to death his two daughters in the back of his cab for simply becoming “too western.” I have tried to tell you for years that Islam is a relgion of hate and death, and according to Islamic Law, Fathima would be put to death for leaving Islam and converting to Christianity.

This is an important story because Muslims who have come to this country have not sought to assimilate themselves into the American lifestyle, but they have sought to force people here to follow their laws and beliefs. Many US banks have entire departments set up to follow Shariah Law for Muslim account holders. Some airports have been pressured into providing footbaths for Muslims. As most people go about their daily lives, Muslims in this nation are working tirelessly to turn the United States into a Muslim country!!!

Will Islam be the United States Babylon? All throughout the Bible and human history, God has used human instruments to do His work and fulfill His plan and purpose. We read all throughout the Old Testament how the children of Israel would turn away from God, follow the false gods and idols of the world, live in open rebellion to God’s commandments, and eventually He would have enough and pour out His wrath upon them. This was usually done in the form of allowing the enemies of Israel to take them captive and enslave them. As you can imagine, that got their attention real quick. Eventually, after a period of time and due to His never ending love, grace, and mercy, God would free the children of Israel, give them their land back, and begin blessing them again. Of course it was in this time of captivity that the children of Israel would repent and ask God to forgive them. They would be in a place where God was their only source of hope and strength. They began to worship Him again, trust Him again, obey Him again. The amazing thing is once He set them free, it was like they got amnesia. Almost immediately they would be back worshipping the false gods and idols of the world. They would be getting involved in every kind of sin you could name. Worshiping God, trusting Him, living in obedience to His commandments were all forgotten.

It was like when you were a child and you disobeyed your mother. She would make you go stand in the corner for a period of time. After the time was up, you were allowed to go back to playing and doing what you wanted. During the time you were standing in the corner, you were sorry for what you did. You promised your mother that you would obey her from now on. As you stood in that corner you appreciated the freedom you had to play and do what you wanted. But what happened when the punishment was over? It wasn’t long before you were not listening to your mother any more. You began to do things you knew you weren’t supposed to. What your mom had to say and her rules didn’t matter any more.

Like I tell you often, man has never really changed since the Garden of Eden! Go read the Book of Judges. What a classic illustration of this cycle of sin-> punishment-> repentance-> restoration-> and sin again, you will ever find. You read the Book of Judges and you start screaming at your Bible every time God frees them from their enemies and they immediately fall right back into the same pattern of sin that forced God to punish them in the first place. Over and over and over this cycle is repeated and you think to yourself how stupid these people are! At that moment, most of us have one of those sobering moments when the Holy Spirit says loud and clear, YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT!

Before I deal with our nation, let me deal first with each of us as individuals. We are all susceptible and at different times in our life fall into this pattern of sin. This is why I implore you each day to stay in the Word, pray, keep close to the Lord, be in church on Sunday or some day during the week, and find ways to serve the Lord. You see, all of these things working together insure that you are never far from Christ. It keeps you constantly focused on the Lord and your faith. It makes it very difficult to fall into the many traps satan lays for you each day to tempt you and lead you into sin and away from God.

You know and I know that the first thing you do when you allow sin into your life is that you stop reading the Bible as much, usually stop reading it period. You stop praying as much, again, you often stop talking to God at all. You quit going to church regularly, if you even go at all. You are like Adam who after he sinned, ran and hid from God and we see that great scene of God in the Garden asking, “Adam, where are you?”

Of course, as I tell you often sin always has a very high price tag. You NEVER sin and get away with it. There is always a high price to pay when we choose to sin against God. Eventually the time to pay, to suffer the consequences of our rebellion is upon us. We then go through that season of chastisement, of punishment, and it is during this time that most turn back to the Lord. We ask Him to forgive us, repent of our sins, and in the season of punishment find our relationship with Christ again. Eventually the season of punishment ends and we are back to living our lives again. Hopefully we learned our lesson and have strengthened our walk with the Lord and will do all we have to do each day to stay close to Him, live in obedience to His Word, and enjoy the blessings of that relationship with Jesus.

*Hear my word for you today! The United States is no different than the children of Israel. We are a wicked and rebellious people who have forsaken our God. We have squandered His many blessings and have turned this blessed land into one that is cursed. We have turned to every false god, idol, and philosophy the world has dreamed up in opposition to the God of the Bible and His Truth. We proudly and legally practice infanticide in this nation, slaughtering 4,000 babies every 24 hours. We have embraced, celebrated, and accepted as normal deviant sexual choices that God never intended man to engage in. We have opened the floodgates to allow pornography and every kind of sexual sin man can imagine to exist without any restraint.

As Paul told his young disciple Timothy in 2 Timothy 3, men have become ” lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- having a form of godliness but denying its power. ”

Just as God spared not His wrath on his own chosen people, punishing them for their rebellion, so will the wrath of God be felt on this nation for our rebellion. In the past God has poured out His judgment on nations by allowing their enemies to take them captive. I believe today as I type these words that unless this nation immediately repents, turns back to God and to His Truth, ISLAM WILL BE OUR BABYLON!!! Amen.

I love you and care about you so much. For those who have been reading the Daily Devotional for any length of time, you know that I am probably about the most positive person you will ever meet. However, I am also one of the most realistic. I can’t read the Bible and read about God’s judgment on the children of Israel for their cycle of sin and not understand that we are facing His judgment for our rebellion. The Bible is also very clear that even amongst God’s choice servants, when they sinned there was always a price to pay. Why would we think for a second we can sin and get away with it?

My prayer for you today is that you will realize that there is a huge price to pay when we sin. Our rebellion to God always brings consequences. Likewise, God blesses us for our obedience. So it really boils down to a choice between consequences and blessings. I have to tell you as someone who has experienced both, blessings are MUCH better! It really makes sinning not only an act against God, but really stupid since we know we aren’t going to get away with it. I pray today that the Lord will speak to your heart and each time you are confronted with the choice to sin, you will remember that you pay a huge price for that sin at some point. It is just as easy to OBEY God, and instead of dealing with the pain of whatever consequences arise, you can enjoy the blessings that flow from your obedience!!!

As for this nation, I sense our time is very short. I sense in my spiritual gut that at any moment God could unleash His wrath on this land. We are not only due His judgment, we are long OVERDUE! As I see the events of this world unfolding, I clearly see that Islam could very easily be God’s instrument of judgment on this nation for our rebellion, just like Babylon was His instrument of judgment on the children of Israel for their rebellion. I only know the glimpses we get from the Word what being taken captive and enslaved by a hostile people would be like. None of us can even begin to fathom it. I do know that it will be horrible. I also know that it can be avoided IF we act now.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller
