“Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen.” Romans 1:24,25
Sadly, the two biggest news stories of the last couple weeks have both been sex scandals. One involved GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain, the other, former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. It was just a few months ago that Christian TV superstar Bishop Eddie Long and pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in suburban Atlanta, was also embroiled in a sex scandal involving homosexual relations with five young men who were once in his church. Today, I want to deal with these various scandals, but from a place you will never hear in the media. I want to look at these scandals in light of the atmosphere that has been created in this nation over the past 20 years by the homosexual community.
Let me start by saying that sex scandals have been part of the human condition since the beginning of man. We read about numerous sex scandals in the pages of the Bible, from Abraham, to the rape of Dinah, the serial womanizer Samson, David’s adultery with Bathsheba, Solomon’s thousand wives, to the woman at the well confronted by Jesus. So sexual sin is nothing new, and has been going on long before these recent scandals broke. However, I think it is very legitimate to look at the climate that has been created over the past 20 years by the homosexual lobby in this nation that has made sexual sin much more accepted and tolerated, often without the stigma that used to be attached to such sinful activity.
A few weeks ago, I dealt with the suicide of a 15-year-old Canadian boy who said he was gay. I put the blame for his suicide directly at the feet of the homosexual community, media figures who promote and cheer for the radical homosexual agenda like Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, along with virtually all in the news business while demonizing anyone who dares speak out aginst the sin of homosexuality, the world of entertainment that has glamorized this perverted choice of sex, and the radical homosexual lobby which has spent decades trying to make their unnatural choice of sex acceptable and mainstream in our culture.
While the pro homosexual forces in this nation were directly responsible for the climate in which a 15-year-old boy who doesn’t even know what sex is about becoming so confused and hopeless that he took his own life, they are indirectly responsible for the current sex scandals, by creating an atmosphere for which they are more prevalent and tolerated.
The latest and current scandal involves former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, who over the course of at least a decade, is accused of having sexual relations with at least 8 boys 13 and younger, with another 10 new boys coming forward just this morning. If these charges are true, Sandusky is nothing but a pedophile who deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I can tell you from dealing with dozens of these types of crimes over the 12 years of Liveprayer, the easy access of porn on the Internet, the lax attitude towards deviant sexual behavior the homosexual lobby has helped to create, has fueled and made it easier for sick men like Sandusky, as well as women ( How many examples of female teachers engaging in sex with underage students have we had in the past few years? ) to fulfill their perverse sexual desires.
As a side note, it was the stated goal of Penn State President Spanier to become the most gay-friendly campus in America. Penn State had the first all gay fraternity and officially sponsored events like “QueerFest” and Become a Lesbian for a day.” Additionally, in 2006 they fired their National Championship winning woman’s basketball coach who had been there for 27 years for telling a parent she would not tolerate homosexuality on her team. I submit that it is against this backdrop of tolerating unnatural, unhealthy, and perverted sexual conduct that if nothing else, created an environment for a sexual predator like Sandusky to operate!
The allegations against Herman Cain are a bit different. Sexual harassment by men AND women is very real and needs to be taken seriously. Sadly, since these are usually one-on-one situations, it usually ends up being a he-said, she-said situation that is hard to prove what really happened. I do know this however. Men or women who have truly been sexually harassed and choose to file formal charges, rarely take a nominal payoff to settle. In speaking to many lawyers who deal in these types of cases, they told me that in this litigious society, it is cheaper for a business or organization to settle such claims for $20,000 or something in that range with no admission of guilt, since fighting the charges can bring lots of bad publicity, but more important, end up costing hundreds of thousands in legal fees.
I don’t know the truth about what happened with Mr. Cain and the 4 women who made these allegations, but I do know that the settlements by the two women who did file charges were not the type of settlements that would infer there was a legitimate case of sexual harassment. For example, Paul Crouch, the head of TBN, several years ago was charged with having sex with a male employee. The male employee was going to write a tell all book about the affair, but Crouch ended up paying him $850,000 out of donations to keep him quiet. Why would anyone, especially someone in a position like Crouch, give someone nearly $1 million dollars unless something really did happen?
Also, earlier this year, 5 young men who were members of Bishop Eddie Long’s church in suburban Atlanta, gave graphic details about homosexual acts with Long. All five were consistent and credible in their stories. Long ended up settling the cases out of court with money, money of course he raises from donors and members of his church. No details were ever given, but if I was a donor to Long’s minsitry or a member of his church, he would not be able to hide behind a confidentiality agreement. I would want to know the exact dollar amount of those settlements, since if he ended up giving these young men $20,000 each, that would clearly indicate they may have been simply making up their stories. However, if they each got $100,000 or more, it would tell me that something really did happen and Long was able to make it go away with donor money.
I love you and care about you so much. Sadly, sexual sin is part of the human experience and something a large percentage of people fall into at some point in their life. It is a byproduct of our frail, human condition. I am asking you to pray for Jerry Sandusky, since if he is truly guilty of these heinous acts he needs the Lord’s forgiveness. Pray for those young men whose live would have been inextricably altered if Sandusky did what he is accused of, that they may find healing. Likewise, pray for Herman Cain, his family, and the women who have accused him. Also, please pray for Bishop Long and the 5 young men. Anyone who has committed sexual sins, or been sexually abused in any way, needs our prayers.
I also want you to understand that there is NOTHING GOOD that has come from the explosion of easy access pornography and the climate which has been created by the pro homosexual lobby in this nation. In pushing acceptance for their unnatural and deviant form of sex upon our culture, they have helped create this atmosphere where sex is no longer seen as a sacred and special gift from God for a man and women in the bonds of marriage, but simply a sport to be enjoyed by anyone, with anyone, at any time, in any way, anywhere, and if someone objects to their behavior, they are called haters and bigots and out of touch.
Well, their wish has come true, and we now have a nation that embraces and accepts every type of sexual perversion you can name. Satan has clearly won this battle and we are just beginning to see the life-destroying results of that victory!
