We all Get so Bogged Down in the Day-to-Day Activities of Life

(Luke 12:16-21)

We all get so bogged down in the day-to-day activities of life, we can lose sight of the big picture. One of the goals I have each day is to help you stay focused on the “big picture”. The ultimate “American dream” is to win several million dollars, buy a huge home, new cars, quit your job…then? That becomes the big question. When you have all those things you ever dreamed of, when you have accomplished all of the things you strive for…then????

In today’s scripture, we read about a man who could have easily been living in the year 2000. Obviously very talented. Obviously very goal-oriented. He had his plan, followed it through, got everything he wanted….then, the Lord says, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you.”

You see my friend, this Devotional in no way is meant to tell you that your goals are not important. It is in no way meant to tell you that you should not strive to have the best things this life can offer. There is nothing wrong with that at all. What I am trying to get you to hear this day is that you MUST keep your goals prioritized and in perspective. To simply let your goal be “get all I can now” is a bad goal.

The Bible says, “what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose his soul.” That of course is for an unsaved person who wants everything, but eventually must realize that there is an eternal life when this one is over, when all of those things you accomplish and gain in this life have no meaning. While we work on our worldly goals, we MUST keep focused on our eternal goals.

Those things we gain in this life will be gone the instant our life is over and we pass into eternity. At that point, the ONLY thing that matters is our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have said it often and will continue to remind you of this fact. The ONLY thing we take from this life into eternity is our personal relationship with Christ.

That is why I harp constantly on that intimate daily walk with Him…through the Word, through prayer. At that instant when this life ends and eternity begins, that personal relationship with Christ is all that will matter. With that being the case, why do we spend so much time on striving to accomplish things in this world that will one day be meaningless, and so little time on our walk with Christ, which one day will be all we have?

I love you and care about you so very much. Each day I do my best to open my heart to you and allow God to pour through me meaningful things that will help you in your daily life. My challenge for you this day is to not get so focused on the goals of this world, that you lose sight of your eternal goals.

Work just as hard on your relationship with Christ, as you do in your day-to-day work here on earth. Don’t let the things of this temporary world consume you to the point you miss the eternal goals we all should be working on. We need to be careful. The media and our culture pushes us daily to “have it all”. We get so consumed with that message, that we forget we can never have it all, unless we first have Jesus.

Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Halloween – Part 2 of 2

(Isaiah 43:10; Acts 18:9-10; Titus 2:15)

Halloween – Part 2 of 2

A Christian’s response to Halloween. As I was in prayer six years ago about Halloween and what God wanted me to share during that time, part of my focus was on satan and how he operates. The Bible calls him an “angel of light.” He is a great imitator. He takes the perfection of God and perverts it. So as I was praying, God poured into my spirit that it is time for Christians worldwide to rise up on the most important day of the year for satan, Halloween, and claim that day for God!

The first step, is to make it a special day for Christians worldwide. If Hallmark cards and candy companies can make up holidays to sell greeting cards and chocolate, why can’t the church? I am proud to announce that until our Lord returns, October 31 will now be “Witnessing for Jesus Day.” This holiday was started eight years ago by the 2 million worldwide who are part of Liveprayer, and we will continue to promote it as well as follow through to make this a legitimate, recognized holiday every October 31!

The goal is for Christians to share their faith in Jesus Christ with at least 3 people during the day. If every Christian worldwide shared their faith in Christ with 3 people, it would literally turn the world upside down over night. The world will be “witnessing” their rebellion of God with their Halloween parties, their costumes, and satanic services. THIS IS THE PERFECT DAY for Christians to witness to this lost world that we live in, that Jesus Christ is “The Way, the Truth, and the Life.”

What else can Christians do on our new holiday? PLENTY! Every community needs churches to put on “Hell House” or “Judgment House” productions to counter the haunted houses the world promotes. Make sure your home is well lit and inviting for children out trick or treating. In addition to candy, give them a gospel tract or a little “Gospel of John” booklet. Also, pray with each group of kids before they leave. Your church should have the resources to get tracts and the Gospel of John booklets at a very low cost.

For those with children, take them out trick-or-treating! Have them dress up as Bible characters. Let them go door to door for candy, BUT, in return for the candy, they should give the homeowner a tract or a Gospel of John booklet. GOD CAN USE THESE CHILDREN TO HELP SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF CHRIST TO PEOPLE THAT WILL NEVER GO TO CHURCH!!!

Churches, instead of holding an alternative to Halloween party at the church, should get the children involved in evangelizing their neighborhoods! They have the perfect excuse to go door to door on this night. God can use these children to share the hope and love of Christ with people that will never hear the message any other way. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE HOW GOD CAN USE THE CHILDREN ON THIS NIGHT!!!

So, let’s review. We now have a new Christian holiday. It is, “Witnessing for Jesus Day,” and will be celebrated every year on October 31st. It will be a day for Christians worldwide to witness to others what Jesus Christ has done in their life. We will have churches in every community putting on “Hell House” or “Judgment House” productions as an alternative to the haunted house productions of the world. Christians will make their homes inviting for children out trick or treating, and in addition to candy, give them a Gospel Tract or Gospel of John booklet. Children of ALL AGES will become mighty witnessing agents for the Lord. They will dress up as Bible characters and go out into their neighborhoods to get candy, BUT, will give the homeowner a Gospel tract or Gospel of John booklet.

I love you and care about you so much. There is no reason a Christian should have to fear Halloween, nor is there any reason a Christian should have to participate in the way the world celebrates Halloween. It actually is a perfect opportunity to go on the offensive and make this a day to celebrate witnessing our faith to this lost and dying world. What better day than the day the world celebrates rebelling against God–HALLOWEEN!!!

I will be praying for you. I pray that you become bold and part of the eighth annual “Witnessing for Jesus Day.” For the Christian, sharing our faith is not an option, but is a commandment from God. It is something that we should be doing EVERY day. But there is no better day of the year than Halloween for Believers worldwide to share their faith in Jesus Christ with this lost world. THAT, my friend, needs to be a Christian’s response to Halloween!!!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Halloween – Part 1 of 2

(Romans 12:1-2; Titus 2:12)

Halloween – Part 1 of 2

Should Christians celebrate Halloween? No! What the world will celebrate on October 31 is not anything that a Christian should be part of. The origin of what we know of as Halloween began in 5th century B.C., Celtic Ireland as a holiday marking the end of summer on October 31 known as Samhein (sow-en).

The pagan Celts believed on that day, the disembodied spirits of all those who had died throughout the preceding year would come back in search of living bodies to possess for the next year. It was believed to be their only hope for the afterlife. The Celts believed all laws of space and time were suspended during this time, allowing the spirit world to intermingle with the living.

Naturally, the still living did not want to be possessed. So on the night of October 31, villagers would extinguish the fires in their homes, to make them cold and undesirable. They would then dress up in all manner of ghoulish costumes and noisily paraded around the neighborhood, being as destructive as possible in order to frighten away spirits looking for bodies to possess.

The Romans adopted the Celtic practices as their own. But in the first century A.D., Samhain was assimilated into celebrations of some of the other Roman traditions that took place in October, such as their day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple, which might explain the origin of our modern tradition of bobbing for apples on Halloween. The thrust of the practices also changed over time to become more ritualized. As belief in spirit possession waned, the practice of dressing up like hobgoblins, ghosts, and witches took on a more ceremonial role.

The custom of Halloween was brought to America in the 1840’s by Irish immigrants fleeing their country’s potato famine. At that time, the favorite pranks in New England included tipping over outhouses and unhinging fence gates.

Since the eighth century, the Catholic Church has celebrated All Saints’ Day on November 1 to celebrate the known and unknown Saints whom the Church has canonized. The night before the celebration of All Saint’s Day is known as All Hallow’s Eve (“Hallows” mean “saints” both mean “holy ones” as in “Hallowed be thy name”). So, Halloween means “the evening before All Saint’s Day.”

You can see from the pagan roots of Halloween why this has become the most important day to those who worship satan or choose to live in rebellion to God and the TRUTH of His Word. There is NOTHING about this day that honors God, remembers God, or has anything to do at all with God. It is, quite honestly, a celebration of those who oppose God and all that He stands for. THIS is why it’s a day Christians should NOT celebrate nor be part of in any way.

I love you and care about you so much. Tomorrow, Part Two of this series is titled, “A Christian’s Response to Halloween.” Do we hide in our homes with the lights off? Do we all go to church and hide in the basement so the devil doesn’t get us? What exactly should a Christian be doing on Halloween? I will give you a hint. It will be a bold call to action. I can think of no better night to see souls won for Christ than on Halloween.

In Over 11 Years of Writing the Daily Devotional this is the Very First Time I have used This forum to Simply Ask You to First Pray and Second, Sacrifice What You can Today to Help Me

(1 Corinthians 16:2)

In over 11 years of writing the Daily Devotional, this is the very first time I have used this forum to simply ask you to first pray, and second, sacrifice what you can today to help me. Over these many years, less than 1/4 of 1% of those we minister to ever give to help us. I understand that. First, this is not the “church” for most of you. Second, everything we do at Liveprayer is free. Lastly, it becomes easy to just assume a ministry this large will always be here and someone else will cover the operational costs.

Up until 2009, we always struggled month to month since I refuse to bribe people with gifts to give. I will never take Scripture out of context to induce you to give. I will also never promise you something the Bible DOESN’T SAY to tap into the greed we all have in order for you to give. Oh, I have also never once, and never will, ask you to pledge what you don’t have. But today, we are in a crisis and I need you to help me.

Sadly, with the economic meltdown in our nation the past several years, along with the homegoing of some wonderful men and women of God, a special group of 30 people who I could always call on in a time of need for $10,000-$50,000 is down to just 2. Tens of thousands of churches and non-profit organizations have had to close their doors in the last 24 months from a lack of funding. I need a few people God has blessed to take up this mantel and be my armor-bearer.

After cutting everyplace we could to keep operating and by God’s grace, we have really not missed a beat despite being down over 30% in our annual giving since the end of 2008. However, on the verge of seeing a great breakthrough in not only reaching tens of millions of souls more around the world each day and possibly leading this nation back to God and His Truth, we are under attack like never before in the area of our finances.

I understand it. Very few people could ever understand the level of attacks I deal with each and every day and have for over 11 years now. It is the very reason so many back down, compromise their faith, refuse to take satan on in the marketplace for the souls of men. I get it. However, I am not discouraged…I am ENCOURAGED. I

***Today, I need a handful of people God has blessed to help me. I need one person who can wire $10,000 to our bank by the end of business. I need 3 people who can make a one-time special gift of $5,000 by Friday. Lastly, I need 35 people who can send in a special one-time gift of $1,000 so that we receive it by next Monday. I am under attack and I need a small army of people to stand with me and help me immediately as I take on satan for the souls of men and this nation literally 24/7!

We have done great work here the past 11+ years. It has been the prayers of millions of you and the sacrifce of thousands who have made it all possible. I can’t stop now as we are so close to fulfilling all God has called us to do!!!

We just finished off covering our operational budget for September. That means I need to cover the $40,000 we need for this month, the last $15,000 of our 2009 shortfall, and the last 3 weeks of our $7,000 weekly budget for the new “9-11 Christian Center at Ground Zero.” That is $76,000 I need to bring in by the end of this month.

I am asking everyone to pray, and for a few who are able, to help me with a special one-time gift to help me cover as much of this as we can in the next 5 days. I refuse to let a few thousand dollars stop our work here, and am asking you to help me. I am sorry that I have no building to name after you, or other type of acknowledgement, but can assure you that God knows your heart, your sacrifce, and it will be the greatest investment you will ever make!

The time is short, the spiritual state of this nation hangs in the balance, the souls of hundreds of millions of people are at stake. It is time to act!!! THE ONLY WAY SATAN CAN KEEP ME DOWN IS BY LIMITING OUR FINANCES!!!

I love you and care about you so much. I have been on the front lines, taking the bullets, for nearly 20 years now. I refuse to retreat to the safety and profitability of the “Christian trough” while this nation is destroyed by satan and his minions and souls needlessly end up in hell.

I have but one life, and when it was over, I want to be able to stand before God and know that I gave everything I had for the Kingdom. I want to take my last breath knowing my life’s work is complete and I held nothing back in my service for the Lord.

I have only been able to fight this fight these past 2 decades because of dear friends like you. Now more than ever I need you to stand with me. Pray, give as you are able in accordance with what the Bible teaches, and take your stand with me.

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Satan isn’t Playing Games but Sadly Most Christians Are

(Matthew 10:28)
Audio link: http://liveprayer.com/deaththreat1.mp3

Note: It is funny that the FBI is looking into people putting bacon strips in front of mosques as a “hate crime,” yet Muslims can threaten my life and it is OK!

Satan isn’t playing games, but sadly, most Christians are! It is a shame that most who have accepted the Lord as their Savior by faith, are not as serious about souls as satan is! Jesus clearly told us that the enemy’s goal is to, “kill, steal, and destroy.” Satan fights for each soul to join him in the lake of fire for all eternity. Unfortunately, most Christians have neither the zeal or concern for the fact that each person who dies without Jesus will literally burn in hell for ever and ever.

This fact, that the eternal destiny of a person’s soul, is what has driven me the past 20 years. It is the reason I will never back off those who sell out the faith or are more worried about their personal fiefdoms than the eternal souls of men. It is why I go into the marketplace, despite the persecution and vitriolic hatred I receive, to warn people about the tools of satan who are out to take their souls to hell! THIS IS NOT A GAME!!!

Jesus said, “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Sadly, most Christians have no clue what it is like to have someone threaten your life for simply preaching the Truth of God’s Word. For the past 11 years, I have received an average of 6 death threats a month. I use the common sense God gave me. Unfortunately in most public appearances I have to have armed security accompany me. However, I realize it’s simply part of the price I gladly pay each day to serve the Lord on the front lines in the public square outside the four walls of the church.

Today, I decided to share with you a call left on my cell phone the other day. It will give you some perspective of the reality of what this battle we engage in daily is all about. There is a very real enemy who will stop at nothing to accomplish his goals, while sadly, we are so quick to back down and compromise the Truth of the Bible and the Gospel because it makes those who reject Christ uncomfortable. Well, I will NEVER back down and will proclaim with my dying breath that Jesus is Lord!

This call I am sharing with you has been reported to the local sheriff’s office who have forwarded a copy to Homeland Security. It represents everything I have always told you about this “religion of peace” known as Islam. They have NO DESIRE for peace, only domination. As you will hear, I was called an “infidel.” I was told Muslims everywhere would rise up against me and I would face jihad, or holy war. In many different ways they threatened to kill me. Why? In their eyes I disrespected “allah” and their murdering, pedophile prophet Mohammed. For that, I should be killed. In many other countries around the world, I would have already been dead.

I love you and care about you so much. My friend, this is the “religion of peace” that is Islam. This is how they react to those who oppose them and have the guts to expose their lies. If I was not committed 100% before to our evangelistic efforts in New York City at Ground Zero, I am now 1,000% committed! Obviously, I have made satan angry. Good! Satan angers me every time a person dies and ends up needlessly in hell. THIS IS A WAR FOR SOULS AND I PRAY GOD’S PEOPLE WAKE UP!

It is a bit disheartening to see the tens of millions people pay to build a new church building, or the tens of millions people give for a given political activity. I understand people need buildings to meet in and their political ideology represented, however, it is sad that people don’t have the same zeal and passion for the eternal souls of men!

From an email I recieved the other day: “Thank you for your service and your dedication to reaching souls for Jesus. I especially want to thank you for what you are doing in NYC. I attend a very large church. Recently our pastor announced that they have decided to raise 22 million dollars to build 2 new campuses (in addition to the three campuses we currently have). My heart sank. I immediately thought of you and your work and the devotionals that you’ve written regarding the $$ spent on big, beautiful church buildings. That being said, our tiny little family of three (soon to be four!) recently received an unexpected refund from the IRS in the amount of $300. While my first thought was of our car repair bills & hospital bills I was immediately convicted to give it all back to our Lord, who has so graciously provided for us each step of the way. It’s not the big number that I know you need, but please accept this prayerful donation from a heartfelt family. Thank you for taking a stand and for preaching, unashamedly, the truth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.”

Liveprayer doesn’t raise money for buildings, or private planes, or huge staffs, or mansions, or new luxury cars. The money I raise is to bring God’s Truth to the lost and hurting masses in the marketplace and tell people their only hope now and for all eternity is faith in Jesus. I have and will continue to put my life literally on the line to fulfill my calling. Today, I am asking YOU to help me!

As we enter into the last few weeks of October, we are moving forward in all we do each day, trusting the Lord to provide for our needs. We still need $8,000 to cover the balance of our September operations, plus $40,000 for this month. In addition, we need just 3 more people to send a special one-time gift of $5,000 to pay off the balance of our 2009 operations shortfall. Lastly, we need 3 people who can help us cover our $7,000 weekly expenses for the last two weeks and for this coming weekend at the new “9-11 Christian Center at Ground Zero.” That is a total of $84,000 we need to bring in over these final 17 days of the month. OUR GOD IS ABLE!

—>I really need several people who have the ability to help me today. If you can overnight or wire to our bank $5,000 or more, please contact me for the instructions at: bkeller@liveprayer.com

—>You can make a gift to Liveprayer on your major credit card at our website http://www.liveprayer.com under the “Donation” button, or you can give from your PayPal account by using my email address, bkeller@liveprayer.com , or you can mail a gift to: Liveprayer 6660 46th Avenue North St. Petersburg, Florida 33709 *For a gift to the 9-11 Christian Center, please mark 9-11 on your check, or put (9-11) next to your name on the credit card or PayPal form. Thank you for standing with me and for your love and prayers. Together, we are reaching and impacting lives, many for eternity that nobody else is reaching out to. The greatest mission field in the world in 2010 is right here in the United States. People are needlessly dying and going to hell for all eternity every day, the cast majority, simply because they never knew they could be saved through faith in Jesus Christ.

May the Lord continue to open the doors so we have the platform to tell this nation and world Jesus is our only answer and hope now, and for all eternity!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

One of the Greatest Tests of Faith is When We Pray About an Issue and Nothing Happens

(Luke 18:1-8)

One of the greatest tests of our faith is when we pray about an issue and NOTHING happens. We pray some more and still nothing happens. We pray until we simply can’t pray any longer. Let me say up front, there are some schools of thought that praying for something more than once shows a lack of faith.

I disagree with that conclusion, since we have passages like today’s scripture that shows us persistent prayer is encouraged. There is no RIGHT formula for prayer. It is not magic or some sort of mystical formula.

The fact is, prayer is simply a conversation we have with our Heavenly Father. It is like talking to our best friend, which He is. When we have a close relationship with someone, we may ask them to do something for us and it is done. We might only ask once and it gets done. There are some things, especially when it comes to husbands and wives, or children, that we have to ask 5 . . . 10 . . . 20 . . . even 100 times to get it done. I am sure we have all been there.

So it is with our relationship with God. We may share a need with God and almost immediately it is taken care of; however, there may be some issues we pray about over, and over, and over, for a long period of time before it is taken care of.

But there are also some issues that we pray about for long periods of time that are NEVER resolved. It is at these times that we must allow our faith to become real and trust God. While the Bible clearly tells us to ask God for the desires of our heart, and we SHOULD do that, we must always pray with the heart Jesus did. He said, “Yet not my will, but thy will be done.”

Jesus understood that His life was totally surrendered to God. It was God’s life to use as He saw fit. God’s plans may not always be our plans. It is at those times that we MUST set aside our desires for His. As we grow spiritually, we actually come to the place Jesus was when we understand each day that our life belongs totally to God, and our desires must be His desires. Hear this one more time-

I love you and care about you so much. I will be praying for you today, praying that when you have to, you are like the widow and not be afraid to remind God over and over of the great needs that you have in your life. There is nothing wrong with reminding God.

I will also pray that you come to the place in your walk with the Lord where you can say, “Lord, not my will, but Thy will be done,” that place where we trust God enough to not worry when He is “silent,” but have a peace that what God wants is what we want. After all, God’s plans are ALWAYS better than our plans. While our plans don’t always work out the way we expect, God’s plans ALWAYS work out perfectly.

The fact is, God is NEVER silent or ignoring our prayers. He is simply waiting for His perfect timing to show you the right plan to meet your needs.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Some of My Fondest Memories as a Young Boy Growing up in the ’60s

(Genesis 1:1; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalm 19:1; Romans 1:20)

Some of my fondest memories as a young boy growing up in the ’60s was getting up very early in the morning, turning on the television set, and watching the late Walter Cronkite announce the latest blast-off of a manned rocket into outer space. From the initial single man Mercury rockets, to the two-man Gemini missions, to the three-man Apollo series that was highlighted in July of 1969 by Neil Armstrong walking on the moon, to the current era of the Space Shuttle flights and a manned space station, the space program has been one of man’s great accomplishments.

I also remember the horrible reminders of how dangerous space travel can be. I remember watching in tears as a fire in the capsule of Apollo 1 that was still on the launch pad, killed astronauts Virgil Grissom, Roger Chaffee, and Edward White. I remember 23 years ago seeing the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger just 73 seconds after lift-off, killing all 7 aboard. The past 40 years of space travel has been very exciting to witness, has contributed greatly to advancing our existence in this life, and in the future will continue to help us find answers to some of the great questions that we have about our world.

Perhaps the greatest question ever asked is, “Does God exist?” With over 2.4 million subscribers and having many subscribers forward each day’s Devotional to their friends and family, having it posted on hundreds of other websites and message boards each day, I get hundreds of emails daily with that very question. Anyone that has ever taken a Theology 101 course knows that right after the Table of Contents, the very first chapter is on the “Existence of God.” I could spend hours proving the existence of God because belief in the existence of God is intuitive, it is assumed by the Scriptures, and it is corroborated by various arguments. But I am not going to.

Instead, when anyone asks me “does God exist?” I tell them ABSOLUTELY. When they ask me to prove it, I tell them to do two things. First, go look in a mirror, and second, go outside and look into the sky. When you look into a mirror and see yourself, YOUR EXISTENCE is one of the greatest proofs there is that God exists. After all, one of the questions all men throughout human history have asked themselves is, “where did I come from?” Evolution and other theories have all proven to be impossible. There is only one plausible, legitimate explanation, and that is GOD CREATED US. If God created us, then God must exist.

When you go outside and look into the sky, the EXISTENCE OF THIS WORLD is one of the greatest proofs there is that God exists. Man from the beginning of time has asked “how were the heavens and earth made?” There have been numerous theories put forth, but all have fallen woefully short of even coming close to explain how the world in which we live was created. There is only one plausible, legitimate explanation, and that is GOD CREATED IT.

Of course those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ and know that the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant Word simply go to Genesis Chapter One. The existence of God is a given fact. Those who have made the choice to reject Christ in the their life, will in many cases also reject the existence of God. It is easier for them to live with themselves by believing that there is no God, that Jesus is a story like Santa Claus, and that the Bible is just a book of fables.

This way, they can live their life however THEY choose, free in their own mind from being accountable to anyone. These people will rely on incredible arguments, unproven scientific studies, and anything that they can find to deny God exists so that they can feel better in their rejection of Him. For people like this, you will never convince them God exists through arguments. The best thing to do is to pray for them, since the God they reject is able to open their hearts to His reality and love for them.

I love you and care about you so much. Only a fool would ever doubt the existence of God. As a matter of fact, it would take greater faith than I could ever dream of having, to even question whether God exists. Let me leave you with some quotes by former astronauts about the existence of God:

“I am convinced of God by the order out in space.” Astronaut Eugene A. Cernan:

“But when you leave the earth, in a spacecraft, I personally think there’s a real motivation to look toward God. After being in space, I certainly have a much greater appreciation for the world God has made, the universe He’s created. It’s very clear in my mind that this universe couldn’t have happened by chance.” NASA Astronaut Col. Jack Lousma

“To look out at this kind of creation out here and not believe in God is to me impossible. It just strengthens my faith. I wish there were words to describe what it’s like…” Astronaut John Glenn

Bill Keller
