God in His Infinite Wisdom Gave His Children Everything Needed to Sustain This Life

(Genesis 9:3)

God, in His infinite wisdom, gave His children everything needed to sustain this life. I have always maintained that the Bible contains everything we need for every aspect of our life. That includes what we eat. In the study I have done in regard to Biblical diets, I have to admit that the dietary laws found in the book of Leviticus are perfect for sustaining our bodies and health throughout this life. God made us, He should know best what it takes to run these human machines we use during this lifetime.

Now, I have to be the first to admit that I DO NOT eat according to the dietary laws found in the book of Leviticus. I don’t see a trip through the McDonald’s drive thru, drinking a liter of Coke to wash down hot dogs and pizza, or even a pint of Haggan Daaz ice cream anywhere in the Bible. I have made up my mind to do better. God has blessed me with great health throughout my life. I have been able to eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, and never worry about gaining weight. I have just been blessed.

That still gives me no excuse for abusing my Temple the way I do, and by not taking the proper care of it that I should. Over the past 6 years, I have done a much better job in eating a balanced and nutritional diet that has enabled me to do what I do for the Lord 24/7/365.

As you know from reading these Devotionals, our purpose in this life is to serve and glorify God. Only God knows when our work here is over and we graduate to Heaven. So it is our responsibility during this life to maintain our bodies to the best of our ability, so that we are at maximum efficiency in our ability to serve the Lord. That means getting the proper exercise, and eating the right foods. There is enough research on the books to tell us that how we feel each day, our immune system, many infirmities we get, even major diseases can be greatly affected and influenced by our diet.

That being the case, it is then incumbent on us to research and discipline our eating habits so that we are putting into our bodies the best things possible. It is amazing how much more we can accomplish each day when we feel good and when we have energy. It becomes our responsibility to be the best we possibly can be each day to serve God, and that means eating the things that will keep our bodies healthy and strong.

I really do love you and care about you. I have been involved long enough in the nutritional world through my study of the Word, to know that it does make a big difference what we put into our bodies each day. I received so many wonderful emails after my Devotional on gluttony, thanking me for talking about something that is clearly defined as sin in the Word, yet seldom discussed. While I do my best each day to prepare you and try to encourage you to be the best servant of God you possibly can be, today it has been necessary to point out an obvious, but often overlooked aspect of our service.

It is difficult for God to use us when we are always tired, when we are always sick, and when we have neglected ourselves to the point we have trouble just getting around each day. I want to challenge you today to pray about this part of your life and ask God to help you to have the discipline to take control over your Temple. Ask Him to give you the discipline to exercise regularly and to eat the right things, so that you are in the best health possible. I will be praying for you in this area.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Is There Something In This World That You Love More Than God

(1 John 2:15; Titus 2:12; Galatians 4:3; Colossians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 5:15-17 )

After writing the Daily Devotional every day for just over 64 months now, I already know when I am going to catch lots of grief from what I write. This is going to be one of those days so I am prepared for it. Let me start today by asking you a fair question. Is there something in this world that you love more than God?

I have no doubt some people will pause as they think of the love they have for their spouse, for their parents, for their children. As much as we may love those special people God blesses us with during our brief journey through life, our love for God MUST always be first. This is a truth most people are able to understand and accept.

More to the point however, is there some THING in this world that you love more than God? We say we love God, we say God is first in our life, but is He really? Let me be a bit more specific. Is God first in your life, ahead of your career? Is God first in your life, ahead of your hobbies and special interests? Be careful now, we know what the RIGHT answers to these questions are, but are they the TRUE answers?

Even though I know you don’t want to, let’s go a bit deeper. Does your work or career take priority over God in your normal day to day life? Do you invest as much time each week into God as you do your hobbies and special interests? One of the profound statements Jesus made was, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Since that is a great measuring stick of where our heart is, how much of your treasure goes to God as opposed to the pleasures of this world?

Listen, PLEASE do not misunderstand what my message to you today is. I am NOT saying that your career is not important. After all, it was God who gave you the gifts and talents you have to be successful in your career, it was God who opened the doors for you to be where you are at, and it is God who gives you favor and blessings each day in your career. I am also NOT saying that your hobbies and special interests are not important. Again, it was God who gave you the desires and passions for the things you enjoy in this life. Nor am I saying you should not use some of the resources God has entrusted to you to enjoy the abundance of this life.

What I AM saying is that we have to take inventory of our life from time to time and ensure that we are keeping God first at all times, in all things. We can fall into patterns at times and slowly ease God out of our day to day life. Not consciously, but often without even realizing it put other things in our life ahead of God. This is a subtle trap of the enemy since once God is no longer first in your life, you are wide open to be attacked. This becomes an open door for satan to enter your life and harm you.

I love you and care about you so much. It is out of that love that I am sending you this warning today. Simply take a moment and ask yourself the tough questions in regard to where God fits in your life. Is He first in ALL areas of your life? Don’t play games with yourself, since this is for YOUR benefit, not Gods. This is to protect YOU from giving the enemy any room to operate in your life.

I will be praying for you today. Praying that you will never forget that God MUST be first in your life at all times, in all things. We can never allow any person, our career, our hobbies or interests to become more important than God. He has got to be our first priority and our first love at all times. God gives us special people to share this life with, He gives us gifts and talents to use in our careers, and it is God who gives us passions and desires for the things we enjoy in this life. We must never fall into the trap of loving the things of this world more than we love God.

In His love and service

The One Word that Describes the Successful Victorious Christian Life is Steadfast

(1 Corinthians 15:58)

Probably the one word that describes the successful, victorious Christian life is the word steadfast. It means not moving. Not letting the winds of day to day life blow you off course. Consistency. As I have said many times, this Christian journey we are on is a marathon, not a sprint. It is a daily walk, where each day builds upon the previous day. That is why the daily time with the Lord is so critical. That is why living what you say you believe each and every day is critical. After a while, you begin to know deep down inside that the Lord is so real. That His Word is true. That His promises really are for you.

After a while you begin to have total 100% confidence that everything you have put your faith in is very real, and that your faith is not in vain. You see the destroyed lives, the pain, the heartache, the emptiness in so many people around you each and every day that have rebelled and tried to live life their way. You start to understand that doing it God’s way really does work. As the days turn into weeks, and the weeks into months, and the months into years, you start to become steadfast in your relationship with Christ and in your faith.

The element of being steadfast is an element missing in the Christian walk of most new believers. They are still treading water trying to understand it all, and have yet to develop the confidence and total faith in the Lord. For those who have been walking with the Lord for many years, and have learned over time how to be steadfast, I want to challenge you to reach out and help a young believer learn this important element of our life with the Lord.

It is difficult for us to bear fruit in our life for the Lord when we do not have that consistency day in and day out. It is difficult for the Lord to use us to touch others when we aren’t steadfast in our walk. Let the Lord use you to teach a young believer how to live that consistent life the Bible calls us to live. It is the responsibility of those who know the Lord and are mature in their relationship with the Lord, to help the new believers develop that same maturity.

I love you, and I care about you. Becoming mature in our Christian experience is extremely important so that we can be the best servant to our God as possible. Being steadfast in our daily life is critical to getting to that place in our life with the Lord. I will be praying today that you will find the strength and courage to be steadfast and not wavering to the right or left as you serve the Lord.

God has a great plan for your life, and being able to count on you each day is important to see that plan unfold and know the fullness of His blessings. Make this a priority in your prayer life to work daily to get to that point where you are steadfast, unmovable in your life and commitment to Christ. May His richest blessings be with you today as you work towards being a steadfast, unmovable servant of the living God!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Let Your Light Shine Before Men

(Matthew 5:16)

One of the commands that Jesus has given His children is to go out into this world that we live in and “let our light shine before men.” This was NOT a suggestion of something we can do on a Saturday afternoon when we are bored. This was a direct command to LET OUR LIGHT SHINE in this dark, lost, and sin-filled world that we live in. Today, I simply want to reiterate that order Jesus gave to His children 2000 years ago. To fulfill our God-given purpose in this life, we have to serve and glorify HIM with our lives. Ultimately, that is what the life of EVERY believer is all about.

I will never forget back January 1996 when the National Religious Broadcasters held their annual convention at the huge downtown convention center in Indianapolis. One evening at about 5:30 p.m., I left the convention center by a side door. As those who live in the Midwest know, 5:30 the afternoon in January, it is getting dark, it is cold, and it is very dreary. The moment the door to the convention center closed behind me, there was a moment frozen in time when everything stopped.

The Holy Spirit spoke to me as plain as I am speaking to you now. He told me that behind that door, inside the convention center, was a collection of some of the most gifted men and women on the face of the earth. There were hundreds of millions of commerce involved in the Christian broadcast world. Yet, with all of those incredibly gifted people of God, with all of those vast resources, outside that convention center was a dark, dreary world that for the most part, DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THEY EXISTED!!!

For the most part, all they were doing was trading dollars with each other, enjoying the fellowship Christians enjoy together, and simply self perpetuating the Christian broadcast world to survive one more year! Rather than letting their light shine before ALL men, they were content with keeping their light in the safety of the world that they had established. And as guilty as the Christian broadcast world is of this, the church is just as bad; stay within the safety of the four walls and keep the doors locked!!!

Now, you know a little about where my passion comes from for the work that is being done every day through Liveprayer. I loved my time of preaching in churches all over the country, but knew deep inside this was not where God wanted me long term. I loved my time in the Christian t.v. world, but knew that this wasn’t really where God wanted me long term. Why? Because in both cases I knew that the light of Christ in me was not being seen by the majority of those who needed it the most. Those in the world who were lost, looking for answers, trying to find just a tiny piece of hope to hold on to. I HAD THE ANSWER THEY WERE LOOKING FOR!!!

That is why I am more committed then ever to make Liveprayer VISIBLE in a world where the majority of God’s work is INVISIBLE!!! One of the things that has frustrated me for so long is how bold satan is in getting out his message that leads to the death and destruction of so many every day. Yet the people of God, who have the only REAL answer to life, are so afraid to be just as bold. Well, I am not afraid, and I have no idea how much work God has left for me to do, so I am going out each day and giving 100% of all that I have to let the beacon of light that is Liveprayer shine bright enough for the entire world to see!

The enemy has boldly used the Internet to do his work, well, we are using it in just as boldly to proclaim the hope and love of Jesus Christ, and will continue to increase the amount of people that we can reach each day. The enemy boldly uses television for his purposes. The Liveprayer television program has been a vehicle for nearly 7 yrs that is JUST as bold as anything satan does! This is EXACTLY what we need to do. Find ways of packaging the Gospel and get it to the mainstream public!!!

You see my friend, the strategy of most Christian organizations has always been to operate within the confines of the walls of the Christian world. It is safe there, they don’t have to deal with the endless attacks the lost world will bring on them, AND it is very expensive to try and compete in the secular world. BUT IT IS OUT IN THE LOST WORLD WHERE OUR LIGHTS WILL OUR NEEDED THE MOST! We have created a synergy between the Internet and secular TV to BOLDLY proclaim that there is hope, that there are answers, in the name of Jesus!

To me, THAT is what Jesus meant when He told us let our light shine before men. That is what He has called YOU to do, and that is what He has called ME to do. Now, more then ever this world needs the hope that we have and know in Jesus. It is time to let our lights SHINE AS BRIGHT AS WE CAN UNTIL THIS ENTIRE DARK WORLD IS LIT UP LIKE IT IS HIGH NOON ON A SUNNY DAY IN FLORIDA!!!

I love you and care about you so much. I pray today that you not only take this message to heart for your own life, but that pray for me as God brings together all of those people and resources necessary to let Liveprayer be a powerful beacon of light in this world. The Bible says that people perish for lack of vision. Well, people in the world we live in are perishing every moment, being lost for eternity. One major contributing factor is the lack of vision among God’s people. For reasons only God knows, He has given me the vision of how to play a small part in taking His message of hope to the masses.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE LIGHT OF LIVEPRAYER TO SHINE BRIGHTLY IN THIS DARK WORLD. NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOUR LIGHT TO SHINE BRIGHTLY!!! May you and I always be faithful to honor what Jesus asked us to do!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Are Pornographic Movies Okay for a Husband and Wife

(Matthew 5:28)

Are pornographic movies okay for a husband and wife? This is a question I get hundreds of times every week. The answer is NO. The reason is because pornography involves sexual fantasies with someone OTHER than your spouse. THAT is why it is a sin. This Devotional will spark the natural question, “What is acceptable between a husband and wife?” God created sex. It is beautiful and perfect when enjoyed in the CONTEXT GOD CREATED IT. That context is a man and a woman who are married!
I have always held that whatever a husband and wife enjoy sexually is fine as long as it is done in private and they BOTH are open to it. No spouse should be forced to engage in sexual acts that they are not comfortable with. Also, the line is drawn when it gets into fantasies involving other people. THAT is why pornography is not acceptable for a husband and wife since by its VERY nature, pornography is fantasizing about other people. FIND YOUR FULFILLMENT IN EACH OTHER!

Pornography is a problem many men AND women have battled for a long time. With the advent of the Internet, it has made accessibility to pornography incredibly easy and has now become a very real societal problem. As with all problems in society, many Christians also end up caught in the traps the enemy has laid to destroy people’s lives. Let me say up front, DO NOT underestimate the destructive power of pornography.

Like all sin, it starts almost innocently, but always escalates. One day you are browsing through X-rated pictures, and the next you are actually involved in a real physical relationship. One day you are chatting with someone, the next day your chat becomes more graphic, and then you are actually sitting next to them. Like all sin, there is a seductiveness that eases you into it, and one day you wake up in total bondage to that sin.

The reason pornography is a sin is because God’s plan for sexuality is for one man, with one woman, for one lifetime. Our sexual thoughts are to be only about that person God gives us to share our life with. ALL other thoughts are impure. Fantasies take our mind to places we shouldn’t be going. Even if we never act on them. The reason is Jesus said if you lust in your heart, you have already committed the act. Is it a high standard? Yes! But God has called us to live at a high level in our life. We are to live above the low standards of this world.

We are to find our sexual satisfaction in the mate God gives us to share our life with as our husband or wife. That means very simply this. First of all, if you are NOT married, you need to keep your thoughts pure and save not only your body, but your mind for the one God has for your life. If you are married, your sexual thoughts and activities are to be ONLY with your husband or wife. Anything else is not God’s plan and is sin!!!

Now that we know what God expects, let’s talk about real life. Read, and re-read the second paragraph. There is to be NO compromise. This is what God expects from us. Now, how do we get to that point. The best case is you are still young, have not been exposed to pornography, you have the warning of this message to guard yourself against it. For those who have been exposed in the past to pornography, the key is to “renew your mind” and flush it out. We do that each day using the spiritual detergent of God’s Word. Stay away from pornography. Guard your thought life.

There are those who are currently involved in pornography at some level. It is bondage. Before you can get victory over it, you have to want to quit. Once you get to that point, then realize it is a battle. Like any battle, to see victory you need a battle plan. You need one or several people in your life to be accountable to. You need the strength each day only the Lord can give you. There is victory over pornography just like any other sin.

I love you and will be praying for you. I realize this is hitting home with many of you. Let it be a special tap on the shoulder from God that now is the time to deal with this issue in your life. It isn’t going to change until YOU decide to change. As you know, any time we pervert the original plan of God, things never really work. We always get cheated out of the best God has for us when we settle for what the world offers. You can only know the true blessings of God, the fullness of what life can give, when we are in His will, living life His way.

God is in the deliverance business, and I know that He can deliver you from the bondage of pornography. I will be praying for those people fighting this sin in their life and believing God to touch their heart, bring them under conviction, and help them to have the courage to take the steps necessary to walk away from this sin and live a victorious life. He is able, and can set you free. God is STILL in the deliverance business!!! God gave a man and woman who are married the gift of sex. God is the giver of all good and perfect gifts. Don’t pervert it or abuse it, but enjoy this wonderful gift by not polluting it with pornography.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

This is Simply Another Day in Your Life

(Hebrews 11:13 )

For the great majority who will read these words today, this is simply another day in your life. The simple fact is, it is a day that will come and go like most days in your life do. Some will celebrate this day because it is your birthday. For others it will be special because it marks an anniversary of some sort. However, for most, it will simply be another day in this journey we are on called life.

If there is one thing that God has called me to do each day, is to use this Devotional to share the very real day-to-day life experiences that we all face on our journey, put it in the context of our faith in Christ, and share the love and hope that we have in the Lord. Most days will be like today. Nothing special. Nothing of any great significance. Just another day.

My desire today is two fold. First, to help you realize that NO DAY is “just another day.” Second, to help you get through days like today despite the trials and tribulations you may be facing in your life.

It is important to realize that NO DAY is “just another day.” IT IS SPECIAL! It is a day like never before, and never again. Let me break it down this way. IF you live to be 100, you will have 36,500 days to live. If you are 16, you have already lived 5,840 days, and have 30,660 left. If you are 25, you have lived 9,125 days, and have 27,375 days left. If you are 40, you have lived 14,600 days, and have 21,900 days left.

The point is, our life is over MUCH faster than we ever expect it to be. When we are 40, we look back and “wish” that we had made different decisions. When we are 60, we look back and wonder where all of the years went. The point is, LIFE IS SHORT! DON’T TAKE EVEN ONE DAY FOR GRANTED!

More on point, the Bible tells us that tomorrow is promised to NOBODY! We take most days for granted because we have “tomorrow,” “next week,” “next month,” and “next year.” The fact is, only God knows that for sure and HE SAID, tomorrow is not promised to anyone! So don’t let this day pass, don’t let this day just be “another day.” MAKE IT SPECIAL IN SOME WAY. MAKE IT COUNT!

The second point is that while it is just “one more day,” many of you are facing huge issues in your life dealing with the trials and tribulations of day-to-day life and facing incredible challenges. How are you supposed to handle the challenges of life each day? Most find avenues of escape like tobacco, alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, t.v., food, shopping, and a myriad of other things to help you “cope” with life’s problems.

Let me tell you today. There is only ONE WAY to “cope.” That is through the strength and direction that you can only get from God Himself! Everything else is just temporary diversions and not answers to the problems that you have. In fact, these diversions ultimately become entire new problems. ONLY God can help you deal with the day to day issues that we all face along this journey called life.

I love you and care about you so much. The key point today boils down to what I share with you so often. Your day to day walk with Jesus is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING that you will do today. Your time with Him in prayer, your time with Him reading the Word, is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING that you will do today.

Why? It is your time to connect with the One who loved you so much that HE died for you. It is your time to “hear” from Him on things that He is asking you to do. It is your time to share with Him your problems. It is your time for Him to give you wisdom and guidance to handle those problems. THERE IS NOTHING MORE SPECIAL, NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAT YOU WILL DO EACH DAY THAN THE TIME YOU SPEND WITH JESUS!!!

I will be praying for you today. Praying that you will realize that today is NOT just “another day.” Praying that in spite of whatever challenges that you have, you will find your strength and hope in the Lord to see you through. It is no accident that God woke you up this morning. It is no accident that you are alive today. HE has a specific plan and purpose for your life today.

Take the time to have a chat with the Lord, and ENJOY this wonderful day. It is NOT just “another day,” but it is the day that the Lord made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! When today is over, it is never coming back, you will never be able to live it again, so enjoy it for what it is . . . a gift from God!!!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Facing Major Life-Changing Obstacles

(Matthew 17:20)

We all face major life-changing obstacles throughout the course of our life. The loss of our job, financial difficulties, the break-up of our marriage or an important relationship, a problem with our health, the death of a family member or close friend, the battle with some sort of addiction, are just some of the major life-changing obstacles most everyone deals with over the course of their journey through this life.

HOW WE RESPOND TO THESE LIFE-CHANGING OBSTACLES IS THE CRITICAL ISSUE I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT TODAY. These are sentinel moments in a person’s life that can shape and determine the balance of your days on this earth. You can either allow the obstacle in your life to keep you from fulfilling your purpose of serving and glorifying God with your life, robbing you of the peace, joy and abundance this life can offer, or you can move forward in HIS strength past that obstacle and live in victory.

***THIS IS A CHOICE THAT YOU AND YOU ALONE HAVE TO MAKE!!!

I was praising God for the story of 13 year old surfing sensation Bethany Hamilton of Hawaii. Here is an incredibly gifted young lady that was already competing in international surfing competitions with the goal of one day going professional. Back a few years ago while practicing, Bethany was attacked by a shark that ripped her left arm off just below the shoulder. Now here is a young woman just into her teenage years, her whole life in front of her, dealing with a major life-changing event. Just 10 weeks after this horrible accident, Bethany was back in a surfing competition!

That is what I am talking about when I say that when you face a major life-changing event, it is YOUR CHOICE to either allow that event to destroy the rest of your life or to move past it and on with your life. Bethany made the choice that she was not going to let losing her left arm stop her from living her life, or even from doing what she loved and was so gifted at. It should also be noted that Bethany had a strong faith in Christ prior to this incident and is committed to using her tragedy to share the hope we have in Christ with others.

I love you and care about you so much. I want to give you this word of exhortation and encouragement today. No matter what the mountain is that you are facing in your life today, through your faith and God’s strength you can make that mountain disappear!!! If you are a child of God, you have the authority to say to that mountain “be gone” and it will BE GONE! Jesus said that if you have only as much faith as the size of a mustard seed you can cast that mountain into the sea. I

I tell you today that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, you do not have to let the mountain in your life crush you, but through your faith you can cast it into the sea and keep moving forward with your life.

I will be praying for you today. Praying that you will not allow the life-changing obstacles we all face in this life keep you from God’s blessings and fulfilling your purpose to serve and glorify Him with your life. God has a perfect plan and purpose for your life.

Why did He allow cancer to cause Alyson to lose her leg? Why did he allow a shark to take Bethany’s arm? Why did God allow what has happened in your life? I wish I had those answers but I don’t. But I can tell you that God will give us the strength to overcome whatever obstacles life can throw at us, and still know His joy and peace in the midst of the storms of life.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller
