When God repeats Himself

( Romans 15:4 )

When God repeats Himself. One of the things that you have to look for when you read the Bible, is when God repeats Himself. Repetition is one way God is saying to you, “THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!” Since God’s Word is complete, it is within the context of His presentation to us via the Old and New Testaments, that we must study to know His will and plan for our lives. His way of EMPHASIZING a point is through repeating it in several different places in the Bible.

There are days when God leads me to write on a certain issue. Sometimes, it is an issue that I have previously written about and there is really little more to add. Due to the fact that each week we have thousands of new subscribers to the Daily Devotional, the Holy Spirit will sometimes lead me to repeat a Devotional from 9 months ago or longer.

The point that I want you to grasp today is this. Many times, I have read a verse of scripture before, and it said one thing to me. Then I will read it again on a different day, and based on how God is speaking to my heart, it will say something entirely different! It is the same thing with these Devotionals. Even though some readers may have seen a certain Devotional in the past, based on where you are at TODAY, it can speak to your heart in an entirely different way!

There are times when we read a verse of Scripture, and based on where our life is at that exact moment, it says one thing to us. However, if we read that VERY SAME verse 4 months later, depending on where we are at THAT VERY DAY, it may say something entirely new us. Since it is God through the Holy Spirit, and NOT Bill Keller writing of these Devotionals each morning, what you read today may have a VERY DIFFERENT meaning to you 9 months from now…reading the VERY SAME WORDS!!! So don’t ever take each days Devotional for granted, even if you have read it before!

I love you and care about you so much. One of my desires is that you receive ALL that you can possibly from God for your life each day. One way is through His precious Word. Another is through those resources God has placed in your life like this Devotional to encourage you in your day to day journey.

The thing that most fail to comprehend is that God’s Word is a LIVING WORD. IT IS ALIVE! It literally lives in your heart and soul. That is why you read a passage of Scripture one day, and a week later, read the very same passage and is speaks to you differently. What you may not pay attention to one day, is the most meaningful verse the next. That is because His Word is ALIVE.

I spend hours each day in prayer, talking to and trying to hear from God. Every morning after my time in the Word and prayer is when I write these Devotionals. I honestly believe that when I am typing, it is not me, but the Holy Sprit that is speaking through me to you. I honestly read a Devotional I wrote 2-3 days later, and often think, “this is good stuff.” The Holy Sprit will respond, “yes, because I WROTE IT!”

So know that God can speak directly to your heart, to your life, to your circumstances through these words each day. One way He gets His point across to us, especially those like me with extra thick skulls, is by repetition. God repeats this in His Word ON PURPOSE. Often, God may have you read a Devotional that you saw 6 months ago. Remember, it is NO ACCIDENT. There is a reason for it. God will repeat Himself so that you take notice that THIS is important.

May He richly bless you today, and my prayer is that each and every day you will have a hunger for the Word of God. I pray that you will not only have a hunger for the Word of God, but for all that God puts in your life each day, like this Devotional, to give you hope, to encourage you, and guide you to be all that He has called you to be. Pay attention when God repeats Himself!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

The starting line of a relationship

( 2 Corinthians 6:14, James 2:17, 1 Timothy 6:19 )

The starting line of a relationship. Probably 1/3 of the emails we get at Liveprayer each day are concerning relationships. Men and women who have gotten into bad relationships that not only affect them short-term, but for many, their entire life. Because it is so important to use not only your common sense, but spiritual sense when getting into a relationship, I thought today I would share with you my BIG THREE for starting any relationship. Please understand, that by meeting these BIG THREE, it does not insure you will have a successful relationship, or that it is God’s plan for your life. However, I can guarantee you that if these BIG THREE don’t exist, there is no chance that this is part of God’s plan for your life.

Please take a moment and pray as you read these over. This is no accident you are reading these words today. If you are already in a relationship, ask yourself these three question about the one you are involved with. Again, God gave you the freewill to make your own decisions, but if the answer to any of the BIG THREE is NO, I would take some time and pray seriously to see if this is really what God wants for your life.

THE BIG THREE. Number one, is the person you want to enter into a relationship with saved? I have done an entire Devotional in the past, that I will re-air very soon, on being “unequally yoked.” The warnings in God’s Word are like stop signs. It is up to you to stop, or you can just ignore it and keep going. We all know that if you run stop signs, you are putting yourself at extreme risk, and the consequences could be deadly. I have to tell you that a large percentage of the emails I get from men and women with relationship problems, are because they have ignored this warning and entered into a relationship with someone who was not also a believer. It simply does not work. God knows that, and that is why He put that warning so clear in His Word.

Number two, if the person is saved, do you see evidence of their relationship with Christ in their day to day life. The Bible clearly tells us in Ephesians chapter two that salvation is by God’s grace and our faith. No amount of good works can save you. However, anyone who is truly saved should have good works flow from their life because of that relationship. One of the best verses in the Bible is that “you will know a tree by the fruit it bears.” What that is basically saying is that if you profess to have a relationship with Christ, it should be evident in your day to day life. Anyone who is truly saved, should have the evidence of their salvation visible in how they live.

Number three, is building a spiritual foundation to your relationship. One of the big catch phrases on our college campuses, and even high schools is “hooking up.” It basically means to have anonymous sex with someone. NO feelings are supposed to be involved. Just have sex and go, kind of like a McDonald’s drive thru. If this isn’t one of the most hideous perversions of God’s plan for a man and woman, I don’t know what is. The sad fact is however, most couples build a foundation together based on their looks, sadly in many cases on sex, based on many things, other than their faith. If you can’t build a real spiritual foundation to your relationship, then that relationship will have little chance of standing the test of time. You build it by praying together, reading the Word together, worshipping together, and finding ways to serve the Lord together. These are ways to build that spiritual foundation to your relationship that can carry you through the most difficult times all relationships experience.

I love you and care about you so much. I will be praying for you. I pray today that if you are looking to start a new relationship, or are even in one now, that you will read and pray over these BIG THREE. Again, they do not insure a wonderful and happy relationship, but they are instead a starting point. They are actually what I would call pre-requisites, since if they don’t exist, you are on very dangerous ground. God loves you very much. He only wants the best for your life. That is why He has given you some guidelines.

While relationships are very emotionally packed, He has given you some clear guidelines so that you don’t allow your emotions to get you into problems, some of which could follow you the rest of your life. Again, it is no accident God has allowed you to read this today, so open your heart and know that He is speaking directly to you today. Make the BIG THREE your starting point, and DON’T COMPROMISE!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Is evil real?

( Micah 7:2, 2 Timothy 3:1,2 )

Is evil real? Most people want to dismiss evil as a fairy tale, but what happened in the United States on 9/11 was an example of evil. The sniper incident last year that held the entire Washington DC area in terror for 3 weeks was an example of evil. The tens of thousands of babies aborted each day worldwide is an example of evil. Men and women around the world who plot to kill other people for whatever reason are an example of evil. EVIL IS NOT A FANTASY…IT IS REAL…IT IS A SAD PART OF THE HUMAN EXISTENCE!!!

First, understand that God is NOT the author of evil. Evil stems from the rebellious hearts of man. Man has to make choices throughout each day, to either obey God, or rebel against Him. Evil is a manifestation of that rebellion. Those who choose to follow God, make choices that build people up, advance the cause of God on this earth, are positive. Those who choose to reject God, make choices that destroy people, oppose the plan of God for this world, and are negative. To be blunt, those who follow God are good, those who choose to reject God are evil. This may sound harsh, but evil can ONLY come from those who are in rebellion to, and reject God!

Satan is the embodiment of evil. He rejected God and was cast out of Heaven, and his entire purpose is to oppose the work of God. Satan is the poster boy for rebellion against God/evil! The simple fact is that any time that you rebel against God in your life, any time that you reject His way, you contribute to the evil that is in this world. Evil ONLY EXISTS because of the rebellious hearts of man. As hard as this may be to accept, the fact is, every time that you reject God, every time that you choose to ignore God, YOU ARE SIDING WITH SATAN AND ARE CONTRIBUTING TO
THE EVIL THAT IS IN THIS WORLD!

I love you and care about you so much. The motivation for this Devotional today was the way our society has tried to down play the existence of evil in our world. The way our society tries to make every excuse in the book to call evil anything but what it truly is….EVIL! The point I want you to understand today is that every time that you rebel against God, every time that you choose to reject God and not follow His way, YOU are contributing to the evil that is in this world.

I pray today that you keep your heart open to the Lord, and His guiding influence in your life. This is why I emphasize so often how important it is to read the Bible each day, since THAT is how we better understand exactly what God expects from us, how He has asked us to live our lives. That way, we can follow Him in all of our choices, and we don’t have to be in rebellion. We don’t have to contribute to the evil that already is rampant in our world today.

The good news is this. The Bible tells us that in the end, God will wipe our ALL evil from this world. It will no longer be part of this existence. But until this time, we have a responsibility as His children to not only fight against the evil that exists, but to not contribute to it through the choices that we make each day. God is greater than evil, and one day, very soon, He will wipe evil away!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

God -vs- satan

1 Kings 18:21-40

God -vs- satan. God versus satan is like the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing against the best high school football team in the nation. As good as that high school team may be, they are over-matched in every area and have NO CHANCE to win. There is one scenario however, in which the high school team is able to win. That is if the Bucs don’t show up for the game and lose by a forfeit. If you read the last chapters of the Bible, you know that in the end God will defeat satan and send him into the Lake of Fire for eternity (Rev. 20:10). Until that time, satan is a very real enemy that can only win when God is not present.

Sadly, this world that we live in, our culture, is NOT going to ever get better. The social issues that we fight like divorce, abortion, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, declining morals and ethics, drugs and alcohol, are never going to get better…only worse as time goes on. What has helped to feed this steady decline in our culture is the media. Radio, television, the Internet, movies, music, and publications. What fuels the media is advertising.

Satan is the “prince of the power of the air,” and has slowly but surely WON the battle for the media which he uses to feed his lies to the masses worldwide 24/7. Satan has WON the battle in the advertising world which is the fuel the media machine runs on. As each day, each week, each month, each year passes, satan becomes more bold in using the media to fulfill his mission which is to kill, steal, and destroy the lives of people!

The reason satan has won this battle is simple, THERE NEVER WAS A BATTLE! Instead of going head to head with satan, Christians decided to not fight. What Christians have done in the last 40 years is like Moses not trying to cross the Read Sea. What Christians have done in the last 40 years is like David running from Goliath. What Christians have done in the last 40 years is like Stephen keeping his mouth shut. What Christians have done in the last 40 years is RUN FROM satan. We set up our own TV stations and networks, set up our own radio stations and networks, wrote our own books and magazines, made movies and music for ourselves.

We decided to NOT FIGHT for the mainstream vehicles that the people of the world are plugged into every day. Instead, we set up our own vehicles that are geared to only reach those who are already in the church. If people outside the church were “accidentally” reached that was fine, but these are vehicles clearly designed to take the message of Christ to the people of Christ and NOT to the world at large in which we live.

Being a huge sports fan, I have always loved I Kings chapter 18. There are lots of rich battles in the OT, like David and Goliath, the children of Israel against those people who denied the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But the account in 1 Kings chapter 18 of God versus the prophets of Baal is THE BEST! This was bigger than the Super Bowl. It was literally God -vs- satan. If it was a football game, it would have been 77-0! God wiped satan out. The great lesson here is two-fold. First, the people of God must be bold enough to pit God against satan like Elijah was, and second, God will NEVER lose!

I love you and care about you so much. As you can tell even from these written words, this is something that I have great passion about. We as the people of God have got to become more bold and not be afraid to take God outside the four walls of the church and into this lost and sinful world. Head to head with satan, God will win EVERY TIME!

I will give you a small, but perfect example. Every Mon-Fri from 1-2 am EDT I do a “live” television program on the UPN affiliate in Tampa, Florida. Even though this is a Christian program where I pray for people’s needs on the air, I do it on a secular network since that is the audience I am trying to reach. Over 92% of my audience is not saved or in church. They are just normal people, going thru the day to day struggles of life, looking for hope.

Each night we have incredible testimonies of people reaching out to God in their time of need and having their lives changed. I have led over 50 people to the Lord, LIVE, on the program. What a great thrill that on the same network that is carrying so many of the negative messages of satan to the world, people are getting saved!!!

My friend, time is short, the trumpet will blow at any moment, what are we waiting for? Yes, we are saved and we know where our eternal home is, BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE IN THIS WORLD THAT ARE LOST? I will pray for you today to open your hearts to these words today. God is calling YOU to be like Elijah on your job, at school, where you recreate, whatever you do in the normal course of your day. HAVE NO FEAR since we serve a God that will answer by FIRE!!!

When we put God against satan, God will win every time. THE ONLY WAY GOD CANNOT WIN IS IF WE ARE AFRAID TO LET HIM!
Throughout our daily lives, there will always be opportunities to pit God versus satan. My challenge to you today is this. DON’T run from these opportunities. Be like Elijah and have the courage to stand up and CHALLENGE satan. OUR GOD WILL WIN EVERY TIME!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

God’s watchman

(Isaiah 62: 6-9)

God’s watchman. When I committed my heart and life to go into full-time ministry over 12 years ago, I accepted God’s challenge to become one of His watchmen. In ancient days, the watchman was the person who occupied a tower overlooking the city and its walls. It was his job to announce to the city when the enemy was preparing to attack. The majority of the Old Testament prophets felt that as spiritual watchmen to the people, their warnings were for the most part ignored. They lamented the fact that the people never listened despite their prophetic insight and warnings from God.

I am sure that many of today’s spiritual leaders feel like those Old Testament prophets, as they sound the warning from God for people to turn from their sin and embrace God. That message of course is largely ignored. Early in my ministry, after feeling that same frustration, God showed me that it was not my job to “make people change.” It was my job to share with them the fact that God loves them, that there is everlasting life through Jesus Christ, and that the answers they are seeking are found in Him. Period. I was to sound the alarm, blow the trumpet…that was my job. Only God can change a person’s heart. That is a divine work, one only He can accomplish.

Once I came to that realization, it became easier for me to focus on what my job was and to do it to the best of my ability. God told me that I was to be a loud, and bold watchman in this new medium called the Internet that is able to reach more people, quicker than anything that has been known to man. My
friend, I try my best each day to be a “watchman” here on the Internet. I will continue to tell those on the Net that God is real, He is alive, and it is only through His son Jesus that we can enjoy a purposeful life here on earth and know God’s free gift of everlasting life.

I love you and care about you SOOOOO much!!!! Let me encourage you today. Everyone that knows Christ as their Savior has been called to be God’s watchman. Just remember, God has given you the job of sharing His love and the truth of His Word. That’s it. The changes, the miracles, those will all come from God himself. You are His instrument to touch a person, He is the one that actually does the work.

Think about that today and take the pressure off yourself if the person you have been praying for isn’t getting healed, or won’t accept Christ, or their marriage isn’t restored. God is the one who will bring about the actual change. We are simply called to be faithful to share His message of hope and love in Jesus Christ.

Be one of God’s watchmen in these last days!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Living with a rat

(2 Timothy 2:26)

Living with a rat. Because I do a live TV program every Monday thru Friday from 1-2 a.m., my main sleeping hours each day are from app. 5:30-10:30 p.m. My “morning” is at 10:30 p.m. each night. As I was in a deep sleep the other night, I heard my wife scream downstairs. I jumped up and ran down the steps to see what was wrong. She told me that she heard a noise in the food pantry by the kitchen and when she opened the door, a rat came running out into the living room.

Now I need to stop right here and say something. Ever since I was a very young boy I have played sports. I have had my fair share of sports injuries, played often in pain, and it never bothered me. But there are three things in this world that I really do not like. One is the dentist. I force myself to go twice each year, but don’t look forward to it. Also, that movie starring Corbin Bernsen called, “The Dentist” didn’t help matters. Second is needles. I always tell me wife the worst part of our 20 years of marriage was the blood test to get the license. I simply have NEVER like needles. Third is snakes, insects, and rodents. I don’t consider myself any less a man to declare publicly I not only do not like them, I am afraid of them.

I share that with you so you understand there really could be nothing worse in my mind than a rat loose in my home. Of course, the first thing I did was get the phone book and start calling pest control companies. I quickly found out that they don’t make house calls at 10 p.m, at night, so it would be the next morning before they could come out. Sadly, my expectations of what these pest control companies could do were unrealistic. I assumed they would come to my home, bring their “rat finding” equipment, locate him, and get him out. You can see how naive I am.

When they came out I was very disappointed to find out there was no “rat finding” equipment. They did locate a small hole in my utility room where he had chewed his way in from the outside. I was told this is common when the weather turns cooler, as they try to find a warm place to live for the winter. I was then told the only thing we could do was to lay traps in key locations throughout the house to try and catch him.

Even though this was the only answer, I was not happy since this meant he would still be living in my house, until he made the mistake of stepping into one of these traps. That of course presented another problem since if we did catch him, there was NO WAY I was going near that trap. I was quickly reassured that for a fee, they would be happy to come out and dispose of the rat.

I am sure by now, you have got to be thinking, “poor Bill has written too many Devotionals, answered one too many emails, and has finally fallen off the deep end.” Oh ye of little faith! You had to know I was going to bring this rat story full circle and apply it to your daily life. The fact is, EVERYONE at some point in their life has a “rat” they have to deal with. For some, their “rat” may be alcohol. For others, it may be drugs. Still others it may be smoking, or gambling, or overeating, or shopping, or illicit sex. EVERYONE, at some point in their life has a “rat” that chews his way into
their life.

The key is how do you respond? Do you immediately take measures to get rid of the rat? Do you become friends with the rat? Do you try to get rid of the rat, but after a while, learn how to live with the rat? There are some people that don’t have any problems at all with having a rat in their life. They literally become friends with the rat. Some will try to get rid of the rat, but after a while, learn how to live with him. This is where most people are at in regard to the “rat” in their life. You know he is in the house, but you make a deal with him to stay out of your way, and you will leave him alone.

I call it being a “functioning addict.” You go to school, go to work, go to church. You live a pretty normal life on the outside. But you are in bondage and have simply learned how to “live with the rat.” You are a FUNCTIONING ADDICT! Let me give you a word of encouragement today. You need to get serious about getting rid of the “rat” that is in your life. If you don’t, it will eventually ruin your life.

I love you and care about you so much. I will be praying for you today. Many people reading this are “functioning addicts.” You have some “rat” that is in your life and this is a word from God to GET RID OF IT NOW BEFORE IT DESTROYS YOU! Chances are you will need professional help. There is nothing wrong with that. There are people that can help you get victory over whatever your bondage is. Use every possible tool you can to “catch the rat” and get it out of your life once and for all.

God loves you very much. He has a plan and purpose for your life. Whatever bondage you have in your life is keeping you from fulfilling your God-given purpose of serving and bringing glory to Him through your life. You are missing the true joy, true peace, true abundance this life can offer. I am praying that you get serious, TODAY, about getting rid of the “rat” that is in your life. While there are many great pest control companies that can help you get rid of a rat that may get into your house, God has men and women that serve Him to help you get rid of the “rat” that is in your life.

IT IS TIME TO QUIT LIVING WITH A RAT, GET RID OF HIM!!!

p.s. After 24 hours, the rat is still in the house. Pray with me that he will be caught, TODAY!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Loving the things of this world

(Colossians 3:2)

Loving the things of this world. The enemy is so subtle in the way he works. One of my goals from time to time is to expose his tricks so that you won’t be fooled and have to live through the consequences of falling into one of his many traps. How easy we get distracted from our eternal mission and goals, and get focused instead on the meaningless things of this temporal world that will one day be gone.

I think about a few years ago, when millions were glued to their TV sets watching that horrible perversion of God’s plan for marriage, “Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire.” Most laughed at the show, but what a horrible message it sent to so many without any kind of Biblical foundation about how God’s sacred institution of marriage was little more than a way for TV networks to get ratings. Or professional wrestling, one of the most popular programs on TV. Entertainment? Is it really entertaining to watch a huge man body slam a woman through a table? Is that what our “entertainment” has deteriorated to?

The reason I address these issues today is to share that even Christians can get out of focus in their daily lives. It would be nice to assume that everyone watching these types of programs, everyone going into adult bookstores, everyone that buys drugs, everyone that is engaging in so many ungodly activities each day, were simply “the lost.” But unfortunately that is not the case.

Many good, saved, churchgoing people get caught up in the things of this world because they have allowed the temporary, short-term allure of sin to capture their mind. They have focused on the things of this world instead of on the things of God. For most, it happens slowly over a period of time. But by continually focusing on the things that this world has to offer instead of the things of God, they have ended up on roads that they never thought they would be on.

I am not telling you that you should stop having fun. I am however, issuing a warning to you today that when you start focusing too much on the things of this world and not enough time on the things of God, you are inviting major problems into your life. Remember, in the world there is no right or wrong, there is no absolute truth. That is a lie from the pits of hell and why I encourage you daily to stay in the Bible, because God’s Word IS ABSOLUTE TRUTH. IT IS RIGHT AND WRONG.

The world’s goal is to be politically correct and not to offend anyone. The truth in God’s Word is highly offensive to many because it lays out clearly what is right and what is wrong, and those living in rebellion to God are then reminded that the free will choices they have made are not in God’s will. I guess my question for you today is, are you more concerned with pleasing the world, or pleasing God?????

I love you and care about you. I will be praying for you today to keep your focus on God, and not get distracted by the things of this world. I am so thankful for those of you who have been able to stand with me in this work here at Liveprayer. One day in Heaven you will get a tap on your shoulder and someone will tell you how they gave their life to Christ, or got through a difficult time because of Liveprayer. YOU help make that possible each and every day with your prayers and support of this ministry. Thank you!

Let me close today again with a simple question, “is your mind focused more on the things of this world or the things of God?” Pray about that today.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller
