The Manhattan Declaration: A Call to Christian Conscience or a Gutless Publicity Stunt

(Exodus 3:10; Judges 6:14; Isaiah 6:8; Acts 26:16)

The Manhattan Declaration: A Call to Christian Conscience or a gutless publicity stunt??? Let me say up front that I support 100% every word in the Manhattan Declaration. I also have great admiration for the contribution to the Kingdom many of the men and women who signed this document have made. But the fact is, it is little more than a publicity stunt by some very high-profile ministries that they can use to raise millions of dollars for their next building or jet plane, while NOTHING THEY DID will change the spritual course of this nation!!!

LET ME TELL YOU WHAT IS BETTER THAN THE MANHATTAN DECLARATION……THE BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Without question, the greatest problem we have in Christendom in the year 2009 is a void in real spiritual leadership. A true spiritual leader is one who has the courage and intestinal fortitude (guts) to take a stand for God’s Truth regardless of what people think, say, or do. A true spiritual leader is never going to win any popularity contests since the masses live in rebellion to God’s Truth. A true spiritual leader is not concerned with the temporal things of this world, so he can’t be bought. A true spiritual leader will be hated, reviled, attacked in every way, and literally give his very life for the Faith. A true spiritual leader is accountable to and answers to only one person…GOD!!!

It was sickening a few months ago to see Pastor Rick Warren on “Larry King Live” say, “I wrote to all my gay friends – the leaders that I knew – and actually apologized to them.” For what? For taking a Biblical stand on one of the issues that is literally ripping out the soul of this nation and causing the judgment of God on our land? I tried for years to warn people about this man who enters into unholy associations for his own benefit. Warren is more concerned with the feelings of men than the feeling of God. He is more concerned with advancing his global social agenda than the agenda of God. He actually bragged about not being an anti-gay activist and that this issue was not important to him. He said battling homosexuality was not part of his agenda.

*Note: It is always interesting to see men like Warren, Jakes, and Osteen boldly declare Christ in their pulpit, but when given the opportunity to go into the marketplace, on a mainstream secular program with the lost world watching, they parse words, become cowards, and for fear of losing their earthly position, refuse to declare the Truth of God’s Word and the FACT that Jesus is the ONLY hope and the ONLY answer for this world and for each person!

Verbal and physical violence is the usual response against those who have the courage to tell the Truth. Let me be blunt. The number one reason YOU don’t witness your faith like you should is the fact you don’t want to be verbally assaulted by your unsaved family members, friends, co-workers, classmates, neighbors, or simply those God allows to cross your path. It is much easier to simply say nothing than to take the verbal abuse that often comes with sharing your faith. Let me ask you a serious question, one that I want you to pray about today. Are you more worried about what someone will say to you or pleasing God? That is a question only you can answer, but one you need to pray about.

Since Christians virtually abandoned the culture decades ago, the voices in the world today are all voices who deny God, reject His Truth, and mock His Son. Turn on any secular television program, radio program, read any secular publications, and what you get is a steady diet of images and messages in rebellion to God’s Truth. Let me give you a great example. Political satirist Bill Maher has a program on HBO that deals with the political and social issues of our day. He openly mocks Christianity and uses his “pulpit” to blast Believers and mock the Truth. TEN TIMES more people read the Daily Devotional each day than watch his program, yet Maher has been given a HUGE VOICE in the marketplace by the secular media to spew his hatred for Christ, God’s people, and the Truth of God’s Word he has rejected.

This is why those who God raises up in leadership positions have got to be true spiritual leaders. Not leading people in our self-created “trough,” but boldly and visibly leading people in the marketplace. I know personally of 3 current programs on TBN that have had to change their programs to comply with TBN’s “Muslim friendly” requirements. I have told each of them personally they are gutless cowards to let anyone stop them from telling the Truth. They are more worried about being on TBN so they can generate donations, product sales, and attract people to their public appearances than they are telling the Truth.

The few who have ventured into the marketplace have done so with a watered-down, politically correct, “positive” message that insures nobody is offended. The problem with that is the Bible itself states that the Truth is offensive to those who reject it. How can you preach the unadulterated Truth of God’s Word and not offend people? The goal is not to offend but to tell the Truth as God has clearly stated it, however, the result of telling the Truth is that people will be offended. Look at what happened to those who heard Stephen simply state the Truth. They got so “offended,” they literally took him to the edge of the city and stoned him to death!

The word I have for you today is this. Don’t wait for someone to lead you. You already have your marching orders from the commander-in-chief Himself! We have been ordered to go out into the highways and byways and bring in the lost. God ordered us to go into the world and preach the Gospel. Don’t wait for someone to lead you, as the Nike commercial says, JUST DO IT! Go forth knowing that the arm of the Lord is with you. Know up front that you will be attacked as you enter the battle field. However, God told us in Ephesians 6 that our battle is not with flesh and blood, that it is a spiritual battle. He also has equipped us with all needed to fight and win!

Let me give you a personal testimony. Since Liveprayer began over 10 years ago, more than 5 million subscribers to the Daily Devotional have unsubscribed. There are a multitude of reasons, but from the feedback we receive well over 90% of them unsubscribed because they disagreed with what God said in His Word on a particular issue. You see, I could simply play the game, tell everyone how wonderful things are, give them a nice positive message every day, not deal with the hard realities of life, and probably have over 4 million subscribers. But I don’t do this every day for numbers, or to make people laugh, but to bring God’s Truth into people’s lives.

Less than 1/4 of 1% of the people we reach EVER give a dime to support God’s work here. I know from feedback a huge percentage will NEVER give to the work here because of the Biblical stands I take on the issues of the day. Again, I am not here to see how much money I can raise, but to bring God’s Truth to people’s lives. Out of the 40,000 plus emails we get each day, several hundred are some of the most vile and hateful things you can ever imagine. 8 to 10 times a month I have people literally threaten my life for simply sharing the Truth of God’s Word in the Daily Devotional or on the television program. The point is, you get used to the attacks, they are simply part of taking a stand for Christ. You can’t let it bother you. You have to have faith God is watching over you, and ultimately, you can never forget you aren’t here to please men but please God!

Don’t forget, you have the TRUTH of God on your side. Your job is simply to share that Truth with the lost and hurting. What those who hear the Truth do is than between them and God. You can’t save anyone. You can’t force someone how to think. You can’t make a person act a certain way. Your job is simply to go forth and present the uncompromised Truth of God’s Word. Never forget, you don’t have to apologize for telling the Truth!!!

Even as I type these words, God is already raising up men and women who will without shame or fear or compromise, lead His people in these last days. They will be men and women above reproach, not dazzled by the trinkets of this world, but only concerned about serving their Lord. They won’t be interested in the applause of men, only the “well done” from God Himself. They won’t be preaching a “feel good” message to tickle the ears of the masses, but the hard Truth of God’s Word. You won’t find these men and women in the “trough,” they will be in the public square, taking on the mouthpieces of satan who seek to lead the souls of men into eternal damnation. They won’t have to ask you to follow them, you will WANT to follow them because you will know they are from God!

In the meantime, know that despite those who God raises up to lead, ALL of His children have been called to serve Him. As a follower of Christ, you don’t have the option of sitting home and watching, you have been commanded to serve. Know that God will guide you each day in your service, use you right where you live, work, and play. The greatest thing a servant of God can do is simply be a vessel of God’s Truth. Now more than ever, there is a void of Biblical Truth in the marketplace. If each follower of Christ would simply do their part in sharing that Truth, the world won’t just be hearing the lies of satan, but also the clear Truth of God’s Word.

I will be praying for you today. Praying that you will open your heart and hear God speaking to you today to step up and make a difference with your life. EVERY CHILD OF GOD HAS BEEN CALLED TO SERVE, AND EVERY CHILD OF GOD CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Know that you will be attacked for taking a stand for Christ, but that God will watch over you. Know that people may dislike you, even hate you for telling them the Truth, but your goal is not to please men, it is to please God. Go forth and tell the lost and hurting the Truth, and please, DON’T EVER APOLOGIZE FOR TELLING THE TRUTH!!!

However, this time we have the critical financial component through the Jonah Project and the Liveprayer Church. I have no doubt the Christians in the audience, and even many non-Christians who want to see this nation come back to traditional values, will not only sign up to be part of the Jonah Project, but support it financially. Also, many in the TV audience will be people who are looking for a church home, and no doubt many will become part of the Liveprayer Church. A portion of the donations to the Jonah Project and the tithes to the Liveprayer Church will go to pay for the airtime for the national radio and TV programs.

Here is the fleece I have laid before God and what I need you to pray for. There are many major secular TV networks willing to air the Liveprayer TV program live, 5 nights a week. We were told by one network after another that air the most disgusting programs you can imagine that our “content was too controversial” but are willing to air our program. I was getting very discouraged when God opened a door with a major secular network who has agreed to air the Liveprayer program “live” every Monday-Friday from Midnight-1am EDT all across the nation.

It will cost us $45,000 per night for the airtime, and we have to pay each quarter (13 weeks, 65 programs) in advance. That is $2,925,000. We can start any time. My friend, I am certain that if we can cover this first quarter worth of programs, we will be able to attract enough viewers to join the Jonah Project, as well as the new Liveprayer Church, to generate the funds we need to keep the program on the air.

I love you and care about you so much. Listen, you know my heart after all of these years. I could have taken the easy road and simply become another occupant of the Christian trough, generating millions of dollars, living a life of ease and luxury like so many others. I could have become part of the “Christian elite,” played the political games, run around with the “giants” whose name everyone knows like those who singed this Manhattan Declaration.

I am not interested in fame, or money, only SOULS! I am not interested in talking about souls, but SAVING SOULS! I am not interested in acting like we are doing something while men are dying and going to hell because nobody reached out to them and told them how to be saved, while our nation is in spiritual freefall. I am only interested in making sure ALL hear the Gospel and in turning this nation back to God. I don’t have any desire to be part of the religious establishment, only serve the Lord!

I am coming to you today to ask you to pray for God to move on the heart of one person, maybe two, maybe three or four, who have the resources and the heart for God to make a bold move and help me put together $3 million dollars by the end of this month. In addition to the airtime costs, we will need about $75,000 for the production costs for those 13 weeks.

The Liveprayer TV program is not some “good idea.” We have done over 1650 programs over the past 7 years and have the track record to prove it is successful. We only need to have 100,000 viewers a night, a minimal number we averaged the 10 weeks we were on nationwide in 2006. Only 1% of those viewers needs to sign up for the Jonah Project and make a $40 donation, and only 1/4 of 1% need to join the Liveprayer Church with only 20% of those people tithing $100 a week, for us to cover our nightly airtime costs. That is why I am CERTAIN we now have the model in place to cover the ongoing costs of the program if we can raise the $3 million we need for the first quarter.

I know there are some very talented, gifted, and resourceful people who are part of the Liveprayer family. People God has gifted in the area of finances. I need your help! Some of you have the resources and contacts to put together a small group of 3, 5, 10, 20 people. Others have great contacts with people who love the Lord and would be excited about a real opportunity to make a difference with some of what God has entrusted into their care. IT IS GOING TO TAKE ONE PERSON GOD HAS GIFTED AND ORDAINED TO SHARE MY BURDEN, MAKE IT YOUR BURDEN, AND HELP ME PUT THIS $3 MILLION TOGETHER. PLEASE PRAY AND SEEK THE LORD IF HE IS CALLING YOU TO HELP ME!

I am well aware that $3 million is an incredible commitment, however money is all relative. President Barack Hussein Obama raised $66 MILLION IN ONE MONTH! There are people willing to pour millions into a political ideology, I know there are those who can make that same financial commitment for the eternal souls of millions and to help lead this nation back to God. The fact is, there is NOBODY that has a live daily TV program on secular TV. It is hard to put into words the incredible impact such a program can have in the hearts and lives of the millions of people who will view it each day. I assure you that this TV program can not only help lead millions of souls to faith in Jesus Christ, but be a loud voice in the marketplace of God’s Truth that can lead this nation back to God and Biblical Truth.

I realize satan will stop at nothing to keep this program from airing and will cause many to dismiss this message. That is OK. It takes eyes to see and ears to hear. I am asking everyone today to please pray for the Lord to send the person or people who can help me put together this $3 million by the end of the month. Nothing on Christian TV is going to impact millions of lost souls or this nation because very few lost souls watch Christian TV, and after 40 years, the nation is in a worst spiritual condition than it has ever been in. It is clear that Christian TV has had virtually ZERO impact on our culture!

However, I know the impact the Liveprayer TV program has had over the years we have been on in Tampa and around Florida and across the nation. Even in just the 10 weeks we were on nationally in 2006, we still hear from people whose lives were impacted. It is a simple, yet powerful vehicle that can literally turn this nation back to God and His Truth. This is no doubt the last window we will have, since as the culture deteriorates, the ability to do such a program will be lost. As much money as $3 million is, it is nothing in the economy of this world. That $3 million can be the seed that helps to turn this nation back to God while helping to lead millions and millions of souls to faith in Jesus Christ.

As we head into the last day of the month, we still need to bring in right at $25,000 to cover the balance of our November financial needs, and $80,000 to cover the monthly shortfalls we’ve incurred since January. Please pray about making a special year-end gift to Liveprayer that may also help your tax situation. God has sustained His work here for over 10 yrs now, and there has never been a more critical time for our voice to be heard. Sadly, while so many churches and ministries stay out of the line of fire, the culture around us is in a spiritual freefall. I will keep sharing the unadulterated truth of God’s Word each day while reaching out to the lost and hurting, sharing with them the hope we have in Jesus. YOU MAKE THAT POSSIBLE and I need your help today. Please pray and simply be obedient to give as the Holy Spirit prompts you. Thank you for caring aobut others and the eternal souls of men.

As we are in the last day of the month, it would be a great help to me if you are able to send a gift of $1,000 or more, to send it via FedEx or wire it to our bank. If you are able to do this, please email me at: bkeller@liveprayer.com and I will be happy to give your our FedEx account or bank wire instructions. I Have No Respect for Satan Whatsoever

(John 10:10)

“Lately you have chosen to come down in fierceness regarding the Episcopal Church, Mormons, Oprah, and Satan with a vengeance that is ravaging. Your gloatings about getting in the face of Satan also greatly disturb me as a believer. There is an arrogance and violence toward Satan in your messages that are deeply troubling to me. I sense neither gentleness nor respect (when talking about satan) in your words.”

Sadly, the above are comments from an email I received the other day. However, the person is correct, I have NO respect for satan whatsoever. I allowed satan into my life at one point and I am only here today, doing what I am doing, by the grace of God who rescued me. I will do everything I can with every breath I take to stop him from accomplishing his true goal.

Sadly, people of all ages underestimate satan’s goals even though Jesus clearly told us what they are in John 10:10. He is out to steal, kill, and destroy. Satan’s desire is to steal your hope; steal your joy; steal your peace; steal the abundance that this life can be. Satan wants to kill you. He wants you dead in your sin so that you will be forever separated from God, your Creator, and destined to spend eternity in the Lake of Fire that will be his eternal home. Satan wants to destroy you. If you are already a Christian, he wants to destroy your testimony, to destroy your ability to serve God, to destroy the plan and purpose God has for your life. My friend, satan is NOT playing games; he is deadly serious!!!

That is why I am so passionate each day in what I share with you in regard to sin. Each day, I receive over 40,000 prayer requests from all over the world. Literally 7 days a week I am dealing with the very real lives, of very real people, that due to sin have had their lives turned upside down. I get to see daily the destruction sin does in people’s lives. Satan is an equal opportunity destroyer. He doesn’t care if you are young or old, if you are male or female, if you are white or black. Satan doesn’t care if you are rich or poor, where you live, how intelligent you may or may not be. SIN IS A UNIVERSAL ISSUE THAT ALL MEN AND WOMEN DEAL WITH EVERY DAY!

I realize that I can’t force you to follow God, or to obey Him. I understand that you have to make your own choices. What God has called me to do is simply share the TRUTH of His Word with you each day. It really boils down to this. When you obey God, you will be blessed. When you rebel against God, you will face the consequences. Obeying God brings blessings, disobeying God brings consequences. This is true whether you are 10 or 100, and every age in between.

I love you and care about you so much. Satan is NOT some cartoon character created by Walt Disney. Satan is a very REAL force in the world for this short season. He is not to be feared, but understood. We must never forget that for this brief season, he is very much on the loose, with the clearly defined goal to steal, kill, and destroy the lives of real people. However, there is no reason to fear satan because 2000 years ago Jesus Christ rose out of His tomb and sealed the enemy’s eternal fate. He is a defeated foe! The Bible proclaims that, “Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.”

I will be praying for you today. I pray that you will not take sin lightly, or the potential consequences of sin in your life. Satan is a LIAR. John 8:44 tells us, “He is the father of lies”! God gives us a great promise in 1 John 1:9, “If we will confess our sins, He will forgive us, and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.” It does NOT say that we will escape the consequences of our sins, but that God will forgive us and give us the grace and strength to deal with whatever they may be.

The good news is that YOUR life is not over, simply because you have sinned. The key is to go to God, confess your sins, receive His forgiveness, and move forward with your life. God is a God of grace, mercy, and restoration. Satan will lie to you and tell you that you are worthless because of your sin and that you have no hope. The truth is that God never stops loving you and that your hope is in Him. Satan wants to destroy you, God wants to bless you. Satan wants you to die, God wants you to live. May you choose the God of hope, blessing, and life!

SATAN IS NOT YOUR FRIEND, HE IS NOT YOUR BUDDY, HE IS YOUR ENEMY. Treat him like your enemy! He is out to destroy YOU! Any chance you get, KICK HIM AS HARD AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!!!

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Major Corporations Pay Thousands of Dollars to Come in and Motivate Employees

(Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8)

Major corporations and businesses pay tens of thousands of dollars each year to men and women to come in and “motivate” their employees. “Life coaches” are paid 5-figure fees by company CEOs and top executives to help them through the day to day grind of managing their professional and private lives. The fact is, if these corporations and key executives simply got the FREE Daily Devotional from Liveprayer each day, they would not only save a huge amount of money, but the employees and top executives would get the best motivation and coaching possible right from God’s Word!

Today, I am going to “coach” you in what many may see as a simple issue everyone deals with in life. However, for those who are successful and prosperous it is a HUGE hurdle that most who have “made it” by the world’s standards fail to clear. That is being able to say “I am wrong” when you make a mistake. It is the ability to admit your mistakes, humble yourself, and take responsibility for your choices and actions. This is a critical issue everyone has to deal with every day.

You see my friend, the Bible clearly tells us that we have all sinned and come short of God’s glory. In the book of 1 John, the Word actually says that we all sin, and if we say we don’t we are liars! During the course of each day, we sin, we make mistakes, we exercise poor judgment, we make horrible choices. Nobody, NOBODY is immune from this. The key is how do we handle the mistakes we make during the course of a day?

There was no better example of how NOT to handle your mistakes than Martha Stewart. If you listened to her statement on the courthouse steps after being sentenced several years ago, if you saw her interviews with Barbara Walters and Larry King, you saw a woman who was defiant, unrepentant, showed no remorse, no contrition, and instead of accepting responsibility for her actions, was still blaming everyone else but herself.

If you never pay attention to anything I say to you, please pay attention to this. When you make a mistake, say you are sorry, accept responsibility for your actions, make whatever amends you need to, and move on! When you refuse to acknowledge your mistakes, when you blame others for what you did, when you become defiant and unrepentant, a single mistake in the course of a given day can end up destroying your very life!!!

You see, satan wants to hold your mistakes over your head. When you refuse to acknowledge what you did was wrong, when you allow satan to help you find excuses for your mistakes you have played right into his hands. Instead of getting beyond your mistakes, your mistakes take on a life of their own and literally becomes an anchor around your neck. Rather than putting your mistakes behind you, your mistakes become part of your daily life.

I love you and care about you so much. As basic as this word is, it is an issue EVERYONE deals with because we all make mistakes in life every day. The more successful you are by the world’s standards, the more difficult saying “I was wrong” becomes. As people fall into the traps of pride and ego, the great justifier satan will always help you find an excuse for YOUR mistakes so that you can say you were right. My friend, that is a lie from the pits of hell itself. We all sin, we all make mistakes, and nobody is right all the time…..except Jesus!

I will be praying for you today. Praying that these words will find fertile resting place in your heart. Listen, it should be the goal of every follower of Jesus Christ to not sin, to live life perfectly. That MUST be our goal and why our daily time with the Lord in prayer and the Word is so critical. It helps us to stay connected to Christ and make Christ-like decisions during the course of the day.

But the reality is, only Jesus went through this journey without sin. As hard as we try, we will sin, we will make mistakes along the way. God knows this and gave us that great promise in 1 John 1:9 that tells us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

My word for you today is simply this. When you sin, when you make a mistake during the course of your day, don’t start trying to figure out an excuse for what you did, don’t try to cover it up. Instead, go to God and ask His forgiveness, admit your mistake to those you need to, make whatever amends might be necessary, and move on. We all sin, we all make mistakes, that is a fact. How we respond to our sins and mistakes is critical. There is only one correct response, “I was wrong!”

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

The Widow Gave Out of Obedience and an Understanding of How God Works

(Luke 21:1-4)

As most people were making their offering from the abundance that they had been blessed with, here came a widow with no wealth, with no possessions, who was just getting by day to day. Yet, Jesus took the time to point out that her offering was greater than the others because she was giving out of her need. How could that be? You see my friend, it was not the greatest offering in the amount that she gave, but it was the greatest offering because of the heart that she gave it with.

The point of this passage today is that the widow gave because she not only had faith that God would meet her daily needs, but just as important, she gave out of obedience and an understanding of how God works. You don’t “give to get.” You give as an act of obedience. You give as a form of worship. You give to bless others, and because you give with a pure heart, God in turn blesses you. Never forget that His blessings come in many forms. Not just in money, but in things like health, safety, daily provision, and many blessings that we simply take for granted.

What I want you to take from this word today is that the amount that you give is not important. It is being obedient to give what God tells you to give! It is the heart and motivations that you give it with. When you give sacrificially, you are saying to God that you trust Him to provide for your needs as He has promised to, and that you are more concerned for others than yourself. Nothing touches the heart of God more than giving of yourself to others, much as He gave His own Son for the sins of this world. God understands sacrificial giving!!!

I love you and care about you so much. Every day I get so many emails from people on the subject of giving. How much to give. Who to give it to. Never forget this. ALL, 100% of what we have belongs to God and is simply on loan to us. So whatever you give, you are simply giving back a portion of what He has entrusted to you for this season. That is why you can’t outgive God, IT IS HIS ALREADY! My counsel is to get alone with the Lord, pray, and let Him give you direction in how much to give and who to give it to, then be faithful to do it and do it cheerfully. HE WILL BLESS YOU FOR YOUR FAITHFULNESS, AND HE WILL BLESS YOU FOR YOUR OBEDIENCE.

In His love and service,

Your friend and brother in Christ,

Bill Keller

Thanksgiving Day

(1 Thessalonians 5:18)

On this day we celebrate as Thanksgiving, we have so much to be thankful for. I want to point out an aspect of this great verse in Paul’s letter to the church at Thessalonica that is usually overlooked and almost never preached on. While we are so thankful today for all of God’s blessings, this verse requires a great amount of maturity because it says give thanks in ALL things. How quickly we run over those words without ever thinking about the true meaning. In this society where we are so focused on winning, so focused on the positive, so focused on things being in a state of perfection….God tries His best to help us be realistic about this sinful world we live in.

Aside from our own sinfulness, we live in a world that is infested with sin in every nook and cranny of our existence. Jesus, trying to prepare His disciples for the reality of living in this world without Him, trying to make them understand that despite the close intimate relationship they had, told them that in this world they would have problems and things would not always be perfect. This verse tell us that every day we should give thanks in “all” things.

Spiritual maturity comes in when you understand that this verse is actually telling you to give thanks not only for those things you look at as good, but also the bad things that happen to you as well. That is hard for us to understand why we should be thankful for those terrible things that happen to us along life’s journey, but we have no way of knowing the mind of God, we have no way of understanding completely His plan or purpose, we just can’t comprehend all of the things God does in the situations we live through. It is hard to imagine giving thanks for things like marriage problems, divorce, the death of a loved one, financial difficulties, health problems, strife with friends, problems in your local fellowship, difficulties on the job, and any other bad things we experience in life. Hard to imagine.

But when you realize that God is still on the throne, that He is still in control, then you by faith, have to thank Him and trust Him even in those bad situations. He is working on your behalf and will not let you down. As painful as the experience must be, we have to thank Him because He is often perfecting us for work in the future. We give thanks out of obedience, and out of faith that God knows what He is doing in allowing those bad things we live through in our life to occur. Remember a man named Job?

I realize that today would be a great day to just say some warm and fuzzy things to make us feel good. It is a holiday, many are with family. The Christmas season is upon us. We have so much to be thankful for. But the job God gave me was not to give you something each day to just make you feel good, but to challenge you to a closer daily walk and to help you grow spiritually. Many problems that I see each day occur because people have been given too much “feel good” talk, and not adequately prepared for the reality of this life in relationship to their life in Christ. When the storms come, they just aren’t equipped to handle the onslaught.

The one thing that I will never do is hold back, compromise the Word of God, or tell you something just to make you feel good. Some Encouragement for Parents

(Proverbs 22:6)

I want to give parents out there some encouragement today. Often we get to a point where we wonder if anything we are doing is really making a difference. Let me assure you, the most important job God has given you to do is laying a spiritual foundation in the lives of your children. I know many of you have been diligent in getting your kids to church, involving them in activities at church, teaching them at home how to pray, the importance of the Bible, and talking to them about Jesus.

That great promise in Galatians 6:9 tells us that if we aren’t weary in well doing, we will one day reap. We are so used to this day of instant gratification, that we may forget that the things of God happen in His timing and not ours. We may not be able to see the immediate affect in our kids lives, and even more disappointing, may watch them actually turn away from the Lord as they get older.

Can you imagine how disappointed the father in the story of the Prodigal Son must have been when his own son wanted to get his inheritance and leave home? This father had the wisdom to know that God gives each of us free will to make our own decisions, and there will come a time when our children must make choices for themselves. He also had the faith in God to trust Him to watch over his son. Lastly though, He put his faith in God’s word that promised him that the spiritual foundation he laid in his son’s life would sustain him in the dark moments of that young man’s life.

Let me just interject a personal note here. In my darkest hour, having watched my world destroyed before my very eyes, ending up in Federal Prison, it was the spiritual foundation my parents laid in my life that sustained me, and upon which I was able to rebuild my life (

The key point today is don’t get frustrated, don’t get angry at God when your kids aren’t doing what they should, just keep being faithful to lay that spiritual foundation in their life each day. There is no greater gift you can give your children, there is nothing you will do for them that will have a greater impact upon their life. Don’t forget, the most important decision any of us make in this life is about our eternal destination. The spiritual foundation you lay in the lives of your children gives them the opportunity to one day make that personal decision to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts by faith.

No one has a greater impact on them than you, since each day they will make hundreds of decisions. Those decisions are influenced by their environment, what they are taught, and how they see you act in your daily life. I will be in prayer for you today to re-commit yourselves today to taking the job God has given you very seriously. THERE IS NO GREATER JOB HE HAS GIVEN YOU THAN LAYING A SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION IN THE LIVES OF YOUR CHILDREN.

I love you and care about you so much. I realize that your children are your life, as they should be. Trust God’s Word today, and know that the efforts you make in raising up your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord are not in vain. One day, maybe after you have gone on to be with the Lord, those efforts will bear fruit. As I say often, you can not control the actions of another human being.

But as parents, you have the best chance of influencing the lives of your children, planting seeds that will be there for the rest of their days on this earth. Be diligent about the work God has given you to do, than pray, trusting God that He will do the rest. I will stand with you in prayer today for your children. The only one who loves your children more than you do is God Himself.

Being Bombarded by All the Problems and Evil that Exists in Our World

(Psalm 107:22)

You cannot turn on the news or pick up the newspaper without being bombarded by all of the problems and evil that exists in our world. Each day you are confronted by family members, friends, those you work with or go to school with, that are hurting and going thru a difficult time in their life. 99% or better of the over 40,000 prayer requests that come into Liveprayer every single day are people who are in pain, fighting the battles everyone fights during the course of their life. The fact is, we are all dealing with problems every day, that is simply part of life.

The worst thing that can happen is when we allow our problems to overwhelm us to the point we forget to be thankful to God. Never forget, no matter what your problems may be today, without God you would have no hope. He is your source of strength when you feel like you can’t go on. He is your source of encouragement when you don’t see any answers. He is your source of hope that tomorrow will be better than today. It is God who loves you when nobody else does, and it is God who will never leave you when everyone else has. In the midst of whatever your battles may be today, don’t forget to simply say, “Thank you God!”

I know this message today may seem very elementary, but it is amazing how when we are under the pressures of daily life, we can often forget the most basic truths. No matter what may be going on in our lives, God deserves our thanks because of who He is. He is God! He is the Creator of the heavens and earth. He is OUR CREATOR! He loves us unconditionally and cares about us so much. He has given us so many wonderful and special promises in His Word that we can count on. So never let the cares of this brief life keep you from taking the time each day to thank Him.

I realize today as you read this, you may be facing a serious health issue, or your marriage may be in trouble, or you are dealing with a huge financial problem, or you need a job, or someone you love has recently died, or you are battling with some sort of addiction, or a myriad of other problems. It doesn’t matter what your problems may be. Take a few minutes right now, forget about your problems, and simply focus on God. Now, say THANK YOU GOD! Say it again. Again. Again. Tell God you love Him. Tell God you worship and adore Him. Forget about everything else for a few moments and simply concentrate on God and thank Him!!!

Listen, thanking God is not going to make all of your problems go away. What it will do is bring joy to your heart, peace into your life, and give you a renewed sense of hope as you face the day to day trials life may bring your way. Facing your problems, dealing with your problems becomes 100 times easier. You get blessed when you thank God! By getting so wrapped up in your problems and not taking the time to thank God you are missing blessings.

I love you and care about you so much. I am guilty so often of not taking the time I should each day to simply stop what I am doing and just spend some time thanking God. It is so easy to focus on what is wrong with our life, that we often forget how much is right with our life. We get so bound by our problems that we forget the simple act of saying thank you to God. Without Him, there would be no answers, no solutions to our problems and this life would have no purpose and be meaningless and hopeless.

I will be praying for you today. Do me a favor. No, do yourself a favor. Stop whatever you are doing right now. Take the next 3 minutes. That is 180 seconds. Use those 3 minutes to do nothing else but say thank you to God. Thank Him for His love. Thank Him for all the wonderful blessings He bestows on you each day. Thank Him for caring about you. Thank Him for all that He does for you each day. I can assure you that you have MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR! Take the next 3 minutes and spend it thanking God.

The Bible only gives us a brief glimpse of what our eternal existence will be like. One thing we know is that we will be worshipping God our Creator. Now is a good time to start doing that . Each day, we must take time out of our busy lives and simply spend it thanking God. We will always have problems in this life. That is simply a fact of living in this dark and evil world where so many people live their lives in rebellion to God. But the Bible tells us that when this brief journey is over, “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Make sure that no matter what your problems may be, that you never forget to take the time each day to say thank you to God!
